Walking all day in the snow in semi-snow boots was not ideal. I stopped in trend to buy a new pair…read moreof boots that were water and snow proof. The selection was fairly large, and I found the right pair of boots for the weather. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a bit expensive, but I guess that is to be expected when shopping on Newbury Street.

The staff was particularly unfriendly. I came in looking for a specific shoe right off the bat…read morewhich they had so I wasn't a difficult customer at all, but the person that was "helping" me was very rude. They were repeatedly sighing when I asked ONCE for a different size of the same shoe, and were most definitely trying to get a quick sale out of me. They told me the first size I tried on was an excellent fit despite it clearly not fitting at all. They were overall very pushy and not patient at all which is required for shoe sizing. The pricing seemed pretty typical for the shoes I was looking for, but I'm sure for the experience alone it would be much better off just going somewhere else...

I have followed this company on social media for a few years now and am a real fan of their shoe…read moreand boot designs. Freebird is a company which started in 2009 in Denver Colorado. They are known known for making shoes and boots with distinctive design, beautiful leathers, hand-finishes, rich colors with a western heritage look. They are like pieces of art for your feet. Sadly, while Freebird has a large online presence they have few brick and mortar stores and until now, none anywhere near where I live. Buying shoes online doesn't work well for me. I need to try shoes on and be able to walk around the store a bit to get an idea of how they fit. I sometimes toggle between sizes depending on shoe. So although there have been a number of Freebird styles I was interested in, I didn't want to go through the hassle of ordering them, trying them on at home only to find out I needed another size or that they really weren't comfortable and then having to return them. It's just not a good use of my time. But that is all in the past since Freebird has opened a brick and mortar shop on Newbury Street in Boston. I was there yesterday on my way to a hair appointment at my salon which is just down the street. I only had a few minutes to browse but I was in absolute shoe and boot heaven. I am planning a specific visit next week when I will have time to try things on. Prices are not inexpensive but while I don't mind looking for a bargain for some things, shoes and boots have never been one of them. If I am going to wear shoes (and truth be told, I am barefoot as much as I can be) they need to be first and foremost comfortable and then stylish. Those things usually come with a price. Welcome to Boston Freebird!

I've been drooling over these leather beauties for several years now on social media and when I saw…read morea store on Newbury I had to come in and browse. They have SO many shoes and boots inside. Freebird has a distinctive style and their shoes and boots are like leather works of art... it was fun to browse and see what was available in store and have the chance to see and try on some items in person. It's not cheap - but most quality leather goods aren't.... so as long as you are realistic on price, you'll be fine. Def. worth a browse and you might find a new beauty to add to the collection.
