I called Polly's Monday morning, 10/23, and they told me the owner was out of town and nothing could be done until he returned the following Monday, 10/30 (today). I called this afternoon, and the owner, Kenny, told me the damage absolutely did not happen there - though it did, and that it's been too long now anyway, so there wasn't anything he'd do about it. How can Polly's guarantee the damage did not happen while in their care when they parked my car across the street on Belmont Blvd., where it could easily have been side-swiped? My car, that I have had for a year to 14-months was making a rattling sound - that's it nothing more or nothing less. My late father was a mechanic so I do keep up with maintenance on my vehicle. Due to me not having a ride I had to sit in the establishment to wait for my service to be completed and as I waited I witnessed the owner conversing with his employees about the customers. I'm assuming these were regulars because of how comfortable with each other saying certain things but as soon as they left he made the statement "That's why I do not like black people" and Primm is an African American man. I should have known then that this business looks as people as just a source of income (mainly elderly people or women he assumes has no automotive sense) After getting told the results of my diagnostic I was quoted with a job to fix it of $1300 to fix a water pump and timing belt so roughly $1100 in labor for a part that costs no more than $200. After I declined due to the (what I believe) unjust price I paid $108 for my diagnostic and was given my car back. I am writing this review in my car that just received back and my vehicle is somehow low on oil (never had any leakage whatsoever). My cars RPM is jumping to 4, idling heavy, and I cannot accelerate and the response I was given was that my car's performance just so happened to decrease after letting them look at it and as they told me before to get it fixed or my cars engine will fail soon. If you are a native of Nashville - this business is the Car Concepts of automotive repair/service. If you aren't do not go unless you are friends/family of the workers or else you will be spending thousands or getting a new vehicle all together. Happy holidays

Called and Mike said bring it in, they could get it done right away. When I entered the lobby Mike was explaining in great and calm detail inspection results to an ESL customer and letting them know their options (what they needed to do now for safety, what they need to do soon for longevity and what they need to do just as regular maintenance). He didn't push for a sale, and when he was adamant about getting across a point, you could tell he was expressing authentic concern for his customer and their vehicle (you don't have to do this today, but promise me you'll get this done soon if not here then somewhere). I could tell the customer was satisfied with the service they were getting. Immediately after finishing with that customer, he quickly got details from me and let me and the salesman that accompanied me know they'd get right on it. I let him know that the intent was to ascertain if this was a good buy (including any minimal repairs his team might identify as needed) keeping within my total budget and that the purpose of the car would be to give to my retired mom (who lives in Atlanta) as a daily driver to/from her dr.'s appts and errands. He said leave it with them and they'd let us know when done, but it wouldn't be long. Maybe 30-45 mins (it was rush hour traffic but had just enough time to go get a coffee and sandwich from Panera before they were texting me the inspection was complete). The car's salesman and I were shown photos by Mike himself (not a receptionist going over a list of things on a piece of paper) and given a detailed explanation of the inspection. Mike's team had confirmed the catalytic converter needed changing (which had been disclosed previously) but also the reason why (bad oil leak). He let me know it also needed 2 new tires and while he could replace the catalytic converter it would only be a temporary fix and would eventually need to be replaced again due to the oil leak. The oil leak itself would require a major repair resulting in the costs being more than it would be worth and definitely beyond my total budget. He ultimately advised me against buying the car for the purpose I needed it, and advised the salesman what kind of party that car would be okay for (young person with not much of a budget that could live with getting the converter replaced multiple times and also having to constantly check and put oil in the car due to the leak). He also told me what type of car to be on the look out for to meet my needs. Both myself and the salesman appreciated the fair and accurate analysis and advice and we while he walked away without a sale, from our discussion you could tell we both walked away with a new trustworthy mechanic shop to add to our respective lists. And to add to that - there were 2 other sets of customers lined up patiently behind us while Mike was giving us the inspection results, and one of them chimed in from behind at the end 'You can trust what he says, I've been coming to them for a long time and I have them work on all 3 of my cars.' And then when I asked what did I owe him for the inspection (I'd had one done on my last used car purchase so I knew they generally were $100-$150), and he said NOTHING! They do them for free, and told me that if I do find another used car for my mom bring it to him first. To say all this is to demonstrate how crazy it was to walk into a business and experience that all the great things people have written to be shown as true!! I never mentioned that I had seen their reviews or heard anything about them, so none of it was pretense. It was a real-time incredibly rare scenario proving you COULD believe what you read. I live in Franklin and have the same type of experience with my regular mechanic there which is why I've been with them for almost 10 years (since I moved back to TN). So I'm not new to this type of service. I guess maybe I counted myself lucky to have found my local shop. But it's just terribly nice that it's not the only gem out there. I now know that if I find myself needing a mechanic/repair shop in the Nolensville Pike and surrounding areas with trust and reliability at their core, I'll find it at Ben's. If you are in the area or can make it over to Nolensville Pike and are looking for a community-oriented auto repair shop that prides itself on securing new and repeat business from customer loyalty based on trustworthy, transparent and ethical business practices rather than making a quick buck preying on the ignorance of customers in an industry where safety, security and stability are paramount (because your vehicle supports your livelihood, the daily life of your family and it's safe operation is impactful to your community, right?) then look no further.
