I also wasn't in the mood to drive to Johnston to Yorkers Shoes (but is closed on Sundays anyways) and Rhode Runner is a pain for parking on North Main St - so my purposes on short notice and a whim, Savon Shoes stepped up and helped me out today! Diane understood my needs and she fit me with the perfect sneaker that I aim able to use daily. I decided to return to the store two weeks later and ask for Diane again. She remembered me and I told her this time I needed an indoor outdoor slipper, that would work as well as my sneakers. They have a nice selection of skateboards for sale and they also do local maintenance on them. Civil was created by Guido Silvestri and Rob Asselin in 2006. After many years of working in retail, the two founders imagined a store concept outside the realm of the traditional skate/snowboard/surf shop. The vision was realized in 2007 when the first Civil location opened in East Greenwich Rhode Island. Since then they added stores in Providence and Westerly Rhode Island.....this particular one is on Westminster St, Providence downtown. Their product mix at each one of their stores varies to suite the three distinct locations: in the city (Providence), on main street (EG), and by the beach (Westerly). Civil also has a private label collection and they have been honored to collaborate on projects with elite brands including Nike SB and SLVDR. They support local ripping skateboarders and snowboarders, including the notorious Yawgoons. Since they opened, Civil has been involved in the local skateboard and snowboard community by hosting and sponsoring contests, demos, park cleanups, video premiers, and other cultural events. The staff is young and very hip. Mostly guys in their 20s that love skateboarding, so they know their stuff when asked questions. I did love they have the option to do in store pick up which saves you on spending money on shipping. I went in store to pick up my item. The girls at the counter were very helpful. Very nice and was warmly greeted as well. My only mistake was I didn't look at my item before I left the store and unfortunately there was something not so cleanly in the pocket of my what was supposed to be brand new sweater. Now I know mistakes happen so I did call the store spoke with somebody in management and they said somebody would call me right back which they did. And I believe the manager at the warehouse called me a back apologized and took care of the situation, very quickly very rapidly and very professionally. Personally, I know things happen so I feel like the customer service to fix the issue to rectify this was top-tier and I was very appreciative of how fast they got me my new product. Though there were times they didn't have sizes for him he was able to find some of what he needed but comparing prices I can understand why larger corporation like Walmart are covering more sales in everything. They are experts in their field and have a price to match that makes me lean toward Walmart or online. They do honor and give discounts to medical staff just make sure you work for a common agency and bring your badge to eliminate any headache at check out. With a location in CT and the main branch in RI you can drive out here to get what you need or you can find what you want and purchase it cheaper elsewhere.
