They also have a menu of breakfast or lunch items. One item on their special is turnip greens. Now, I am not a fan of turnips or collard greens. My husband grew up on them so he ordered the turnips. As is a wife's duty, I tasted the greens. I was blown away by the flavor. They were not bitter. Nope, they were delicious. I love their breakfast food except they don't serve grits. That seems strange. On Friday they have catfish. It is delicious. I mean DELICIOUS!! Go any day and you will eat something good but on Friday you will get catfish.

There aren't a ton of options in Linden, Tn but that's okay, because they have this gem of a place!…read moreWe stopped in for the evening at the Commodore Hotel and jumped on yelp to find dinner places. This placed pulled up and we said "SOLD!" It was definitely the busiest spot in town. Which is always a good sign. When you walk in, you can tell that this is the place to be. Everyone knew everyone. You seat yourself and then receive menus. We were quickly greeted (dang it that's the one thing I didn't get, our server's name!) by the sweetest woman. She got us drinks and then we asked her what's the best on the menu. She said the catfish and pork chops were always a hit. The cafe originally was well known for its burgers. We just had burgers the night before so we wanted something different. We tried the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer (not the frozen kind from Walmart), my boys shared the hand breaded tenders with garlic bread, and green beans. The green beans....HOW did they get that much flavor in them?! I'm embarrassed thinking that I made good green beans after trying theirs. I need to sit down and take notes. The tenders were in fact hand breaded and looked great-my boys wolfed them down before I could taste one. We shared the regular catfish plate with 6 filets, beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and a baked potato with butter and sour cream. The catfish was done right! Good amount of breading, tender/flaky, not greasy. Beans and slaw were yummy as well. Let's talk about the star of this plate-the hush puppies. We got a combo of regular spicy and the spicy hush puppies have spoiled me. They were homemade and I could've eaten an entire platter of those alone. Everything was about $40, we left full and happy. As a foodie, it brings me great joy to find these places that are not food chains and their take on a food we have all eaten before. Don't pass this place up if you find yourself in Linden, Tn. 10/10

It's a sign of the times that even small town BBQ spots are wildly overcharging. I ordered the…read more"Large" BBQ sandwich and as you can see the wimpy portion of meat doesn't even extend outside the regular sized hamburger bun. I like their sideways chip cut style of fries, never had them before, and the baked beans are some of the best I've ever had. Actually the beans were the best thing in the meal by far. BBQ sauce was rather bland, and nothing special about the pulled pork. The drinks are overpriced and not very good (I had sweet tea and lemonade). I'll also say the service is hardly what you expect in a small town, downright unfriendly. They didn't call out my number and when I was pretty sure my food was on the counter I politely asked if it was mine and they oddly gave me an attitude about it. Bathroom was clean (towards the end of their lunch rush) which is a plus. I don't know, I guess I'd support this place over the fast food restaurants in the area, but eating here made me kinda sad to be honest. That even small town businesses in America are losing their heart and soul.

There were not a lot of people there. All the BBQ and sides are made to order. The okra is hot! The BBQ is ok. They do not have brisket which was a little disappointing. But everything else was good. They have tea, lemonade, or Pepsi products. Their sauce is ok. It tastes like regular BBQ sauce. All meals are served with 2 sides and a piece of Texas toast, only toasted on one side? (This must be a TN thing?) Anyway, food was decent and service was ok. Restaurant is definitely dated and needs upgrades. All of the bench seats are completely ripped which makes it uncomfortable to sit. We switched seats like 4 times because of this. Staff is really nice and works hard. It is what it is for a small town BBQ joint. There really isn't much else around.
