We stopped by on a Friday night. We were immediately greeted and a waitress came over and took our order promptly. The pizzas came out pretty quickly and were absolutely delicious. I ordered the pepperoni pizza and it was very flavorful and perfectly baked. I also ordered a lemonade, which was very clearly freshly squeezed, and it was also very good. Wow this is for sure a hidden gem, especially so far from the heart of Nashville! Their pizzas are so great, as they are definitely more authentically inspired with a thin crust, less cheese, and a focus on great texture and incredible flavor. Their tomato sauce is absolutely exquisite! It's flavorful, fresh, and just a tad sweet. I would definitely go for one of the pizzas with red sauce on it, but I can't speak for how good the white pizzas are. The dough also has a great chew to it, but is just the right thinness that it doesn't overwhelm anything, and even their crusts are good (not like some pizzas where you don't eat the crust by itself because it lacks flavor or is too burnt). One thing that I really liked was that they let you do half and half pizzas so you can try two different ones! Here's what I tried: -Cheesy Bread: It came out as a big pizza cut in little rectangular pieces, and I was happy that it wasn't too overwhelmingly cheesy. The bread was pretty lightly cooked, so not too much crisp, mostly just a soft mouthfeel. -Selma Pizza: 10/10 - LOVED this pizza. The combination of the sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, and garlic infused oil was exquisite and a BURST of flavors, but not too much that you couldn't still taste the really beautifully made marinara. -Skyking Pizza: 8/10 - I enjoyed this pizza, but be aware, it is very, very heavy on the meat. It is EXTREMELY salty (that's the first thing I noticed), likely because the sheer amount of proscuitto and pepperoni on it, but the meat is flavorful and I especially did like their sausage. I will say, though, the flavor of the meat does overwhelm the rest of the pizza, so you don't get as much enjoyment from the sauce or the dough. The choice of ricotta (another dull flavor) also doesn't break up that meaty flavor either. And yet, I still really enjoyed the taste and experience eating it. read more

I love making pizza at home. Because of this, I am really jaded when it comes to eating pizza out. I really don't like paying more for something I can do better. Fortunately, Sky King delivers. Let me start with the negatives. You will leave smelling a bit smokey. You can't avoid it when you go to a restaurant with a real wood fired oven. I also think they could do a bit better with their beer selection and choose a few that pair better with their pizza. Kudos for having a cider on tap for those who are not big fans of beer. The pizza? I love a wood fired pizza. The smokiness of the meal adds a whole different level of flavor to the meal. It is also clear they have curated their ingredients nicely. I would personally like a bit more of a crisp crust, but this is definitely a nice pie. My wife and I shared a salad and then split a loaded meat pizza. Nice thin crust, the smoke (did I mention the smokiness?), the quality of the meats. Thumbs up. We did not get dessert, so I cannot add anything about that, but I am definitely a fan of the pizza. read more

What a great find! We came to Kingston Springs from across town to attend grandson's basketball game. Originally planned to eat at another restaurant we found on Yelp but it was closed - so glad because that led us to SKYKING! The food was wonderful - hubby and I shared a delicious meatball appetizer. Our wonderful server Amberly was very helpful and took great care of us! We split a pizza - hubby had the SKYKING for his half (meats and goat cheese) and I had the BBQ chicken with cilantro. Perfect thin crust (not too "crackery" but with a good crunch and chew. We stumbled upon Skyking Pizza while staying in town. We saw a Farmers Market on Friday night that was being advertised on some signs. When headed to check it out we saw Skyking. Upon entering, we were greeted promptly and given an estimated wait time. They offered us some outdoor seating to be sat immediately but we were outside all day already and needed to cool off. Noticing that there were some seats at the bar we went to pick a spot there! Greeted by the bartender who's name was Sylus (apologize for any spelling errors). We had great conversation and got us our drinks promptly. We ordered the Caprese Salad and also the Very Veggie Pizza with the addition of pepperoni. It was all so delicious and to be able to see our food being made in their open kitchen concept was fantastic. To be honest, most pizza outside of where we live in the Chicagoland area in Illinois isn't the best. We have tried it in many states and it just doesn't compete at all. Such attitudes, and lack of knowledge, simply leaves more of the best wood fired pizza you'll ever find in this area for the rest of us. Dang, that's good pizza! They specialize in thin crust gourmet pizzas. They cure their own meats and have a plethora of veggies and special toppings. I don't usually get excited about pizza, but this is an exception. They know what they are doing! You wouldn't expect such a modern, nice space in little ole' Kingston Springs. There is lots of exposed brick, an open kitchen, and a very urban feel to it. They also serve fancy coffees, which I haven't tried but want to return to give those a whirl.
