Sadly, not what it used to be. Now it's a bar that is a very understaffed and not welcoming at all. We have tried for a return visit twice, and honestly were not even acknowledged to be seated by any staff we could find present during what should've been a busy time. I would imagine this place won't be around much longer. Too bad. read more

Staff was friendly, food was mediocre at best. I ordered the Mojo pulled pork and the sandwich was tiny. Wife ordered appetizers and they brought it out on a cafeteria tray . The tea cost $2.50 per glass which to us is overpriced. Need some improvements and attention to detail on food related to pricing. read more

We decided to try Lewis and Clark while camping near there. It was Friday night and we were on the bar side. I'd forgotten what walking into a bar where smoking was allowed was like. The bar tender was slammed but friendly when she did get a chance to check on us. I had the sirloin it was cooked perfectly, medium rare, baked potato was tasty, the green beans were beyond boring. Hubby had the burger with jalapeño and onion rings. He said both were very good. Lots of local regulars were hanging out on a Friday night, some playing pool. We'd go back for sure. read more

Lewis and Clarke's Restaurant has many different experiences within its walls. There is a sit down, fine dining room; an ice cream parlor; a full-service bar with dance floor and live music; and a New York-style pizzeria with a brick oven. The restaurant is Lewis and Clark (but spelled with an "E" on the end)-themed. Food: Our food was good, really good. I had the Sacajawea salad with grilled salmon, my son had spaghetti with a meatball, and my mom had grilled flounder. My salad arrived with not one, but two cups of dressing (without asking for extra dressing). I've never had this happen in any restaurant, so I was quite impressed. Our food was cooked perfectly and portion sizes were very generous. Some items on menu were more upscale (lamb chops and baked Cornish hen) than food served typically served in this area of Tennessee, and I hope the local clientele takes advantage of this new fare. The desserts are phenomenal. The German Baker Frau is contracted to make them and they are fresh with fresh ingredients and to die for! A wide variety of wines and mixed drinks were available. Service: Our waitress but did a good job of keeping my water glass filled, and she kept checking on us throughout the meal, which was really nice. As we went for my mom's birthday, she offered mom a free dessert for her birthday, which was classy gesture. Atmosphere: The walls are pained gold and there are antique frames with prints of paintings made of the expedition, enlarged L&C postcards, and a large last supper painting. One wall has a wooden cabinet filled with different Meriwether Lewis collectibles including items related to the memorial for the 200th anniversary of his death. The high chairs were excellent! Brand new and clean with wide straps and easy to snap fasteners. Nicest high chairs I've ever seen anywhere. There is a grand piano in the fine dining area; but on the day we visited, there was no live music. Overall, would I go back? Yes. Ordered philly steak and mojo sandwich. Took 30 minutes to arrive. Place was dead. Music was blaring from kitchen. When sandwiches finally arrived. They were six inches long. Manager was told. Food was awful. I ate a chicken sandwich. The chicken looked like someone cut it in half and gave me a half for my sandwich. It didn't even cover the bread. The manager Steve is a disgusting individual. My wife works as a waitress there and he decided to kiss her after work one night. I found out about it and told him I didn't like it so he had me banned from the property. I hadn't even threatened or done anything but its ok. Place was lame anyways. Needs new management. 1st time coming to this restaurant. Never again. After 6 times of being told "Oh that is your order," for her to bring out yet another plate that was not what I ordered. Yes, we had a party of 13 ,but no one got what we ordered. They even brought out 2 duplicate orders. There were also several multiple sides that no one ordered. read more

Nothing to write home about, my fries were cold, my chicken salad sandwich was decent, but the chicken was pretty tough. Service was good, so I can't complain about that however, to be the only person in the restaurant it took 30 minutes to get a chicken salad sandwich and french fries. read more

Spinach and artichoke dip, Sacagawea Fries, garlic, chicken white sauce pizza, fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and extra shrimp. First when we ordered the waitress brought me my ice tea and I had to ask for a straw, then I had to ask for lemon, which she ever so nicely grabbed for me with her fingers and then proceeded to had right to me. Mind you I only got one and not on a plate. Then when we had to tell her we were ready to order to go ahead start the appetizer now then we will finish looking over the menu and settle on our dinner. She was almost stunned by it. She took our order between conversation with bar friends. Our appetizers arrived and my husband's fries came out and for a $9 order of fries I expect a little more than soggy Luke warm half cooked fries with very little grated cheese on them and bacon bits sprinkled over it nuked in a microwave where the cheese melts and sticks to the bottom of the paper container. The dip I had was also Luke warm and very bland no garlic no seasoning nothing. Then came dinner. The pizza I couldn't even move it had so much sauce it was swimming in it. The crust wasn't done and again no flavor a $20 pizza that tasted like crap. Now mind you we have eaten here several times for 4 years and the last time and this time the service and the food suck. My husband's shrimp fettuccine Alfredo well he had about two twirl on his fork of noodles white sauce with no flavor and a side cup of parmesan to add to it and the shrimp were so coated in seasoning salt he couldn't eat them and he likes salt. the staff was slow, waited an hour to get overcooked catfish and burnt hush puppies, the food had no taste. as an ex restaurant worker you could tell that all the food was fried in dirty oil. also, had a bingo game going on during our dinner. i was there to eat not play games. i do not recommend this place. read more

Each time we've been in it has taken well over 45 minutes to get our food. Everything I've ever ordered has been burned and/or dry, yet oddly cold like it'd been sitting in the window since before I even sat down. The service is always great, though. I just wish the food were better. read more

Bad experience. Waitress didn't know much about the specials. Some of the beers and appetizers we wanted weren't available although they were on the menu. Waitress got mixed up on our drink order. Sister just moved here, so we decided to try some local places. Took forever to get our food and then when we did my steak was cooked wrong(suppose to be medium rare came well done). When I brought this up, I was asked to cut the steak up more because I might not have seen the pink I was suppose to. Well medium rare is not suppose to have brown at all. Then after that the server let me know she thinks any steak below medium is disgusting and people shouldnt eat it that way. And her wife (the cook) knows how to cook steaks. On top of it being prepared wrong, it was a bomb of garlic. The plate was sat down and it could have killed an vampire (sorry had to make the joke.) Also half the lights in the building were not working and we were told they have them just didnt have time to change them...there was maybe 9 people in the place. First visit, chicken stir fry was cold and dry, second visit, steak meal was excellent, third visit chicken strips were extremely overcooked. They cooked me another one which was equally burned. The baked potato and salad were good. My dog would not eat the chicken. The gentleman from from the kitchen admitted he thought the grease needed to be changed. Really! I have gone 2 times....the first time was amazing!! Great food, wonderful atmosphere and great waitress. The 2nd time was the opposite. Food had to be sent back...had to practically tackle the waitress she seemed to totally ignore our table BUT was all over the table next to ours. My son and boyfriend have tried it numerous times since it opened and agree that the food and atmosphere are good. I went with them on New Years eve, open to what I had heard. Had some good vegetarian and vegan options. Service and food were good. Kid friendly and a clean space period really quite a breath of fresh air for the neighborhood. Their alcoholic beverages are the only reason why they didn't get 5 stars. Most of their drinks are served out of an automated mechanical machine. Just not quite the same level of care. read more

This was not our first experience at this restaurant. The first time the food was excellent. We both had a filet, and it was delicious. We were so impressed we went back again. The second time was good. My husband had the steak again, but I tried the Philly Beef sandwich. Both were very good and gave us hope that this place would survive its competitor across the street. Tonight we went back. We both ordered ribs; unfortunately, they were horrible. The meat was dry, the taste was bland, and needless to say our dining experience was a grave disappointment. The ribs and baked potato were obviously cooked several days before we ate them. When living in a small town, diners have hopes of choices, competition between food places.
