Cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts and going one step further, the Salted Caramel Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory (CF) is one of my all-time favorites. That said, I've been patiently waiting to try this one from my local Crumbl for a while. The cookie is dense, satisfyingly chewy, and cool (it's served chilled). There's just a hint of graham cracker flavor to the cookie, but it might also just be overpowered by the real stars of the show: salted caramel & cream cheese frosting. Crumbl acolytes know the power of that phenomenal cream cheese frosting and this time there's an additional layer of caramel. As expected, the caramel is sweet, sticky, and chewy. If I have one complaint about the cookie it's this, mine did not really have much sea salt. Crumbl's stock photo shows a caramel pool teeming with sea salt and if you look closely at mine there are only a few specs of salt. This can be forgiven as the cookie is just so damn good! This place reminds me of a larger version of Rita's which I love and miss. None nearby. But they also offer GREAT and flavorful selections of ice cream too. Thankfully it wasn't very busy. I came in for Italian ice but ended leaving with both because I couldn't decided and I don't live close. Prices are reasonable too. I got the Caribbean mix and Cherry/Coconut Italian ice with vanilla soft serve. Rum raisin (my favorite) and Bourbon Truffle ice cream. Delish!!!!! Sorry, started eating and forgot to take the picture of my ice cream. Highly recommend you trying Rio's. They have tables and chairs if you want to stay and enjoy. It is rich and chocolatey with a caramel swirl and little caramel-filled pieces throughout. It is one of those flavors you keep thinking about after you leave. My partner usually gets one of the Italian ices, and those are excellent too. The flavors are not basic at all. They have a more thoughtful, interesting selection, and you can tell when real ingredients are being used. For example, anything with ginger actually tastes like real ginger in the best way. We are both from up north and can be picky about Italian ice, so the fact that Rio's has become one of our regular spots says a lot. This is usually our after-dinner treat spot, but honestly, it is good for any time you want something sweet. The texture and flavors are always perfect, the portions are generous, and the service is always fast and friendly. Sometimes the portions are even bigger than we can finish, which is not a bad problem to have. They have so much more than just ice cream too. There are full cases of both ice cream and Italian ice, plus treats like funnel cakes with fruit and fried Oreos. The shop is clean, the staff is awesome, and they are always ready to help.
