Unfortunately, the business practices and management overshadow what could otherwise be a very positive place. The policies and fees are excessive. Between enhancement fees, cancellation fees, and the rigid 30-day notice policy, members often pay far more than they expect. Guest passes are another issue -- they're so overpriced and structured in such an unwelcoming way that it discourages people from bringing in friends or family to try the gym. Management is another major concern. When members question fees or policies, instead of being met with professionalism, they're often met with defensiveness and confrontation. From what I saw, customer service was rarely about working toward fair solutions -- it was about enforcing rules no matter the situation. It's a shame, because the gym and its community really do deserve better. Until management changes how it handles both employees and members, I can't recommend this place to anyone.

I wanted to mention on here the hilarity of one current employee (the "CEO's" girlfriend) and one former employee (the previous "CEO") leaving glowing reviews right after I left a 1 star review on Google. What's funny is this previous manager nearly bankrupted the place and had a come one come all membership policy, so maybe that's what he means by member first skills lol. The irony of this manager, Shawn Thompson, defending and praising his young mentor Andrew Burgess is out of sight and laugh out loud funny when I think about all the times Andrew bad mouthed Shawn and how bad of a job he did during his tenure as manager. Neither one of them knew or knows what they're doing when it comes to managing personnel. Funny how when I worked there I was constantly praised by members for my work ethic and customer service relations and how quite a few members came to me saying they didn't like how the place was being ran.

It's well-lit, the staff were very friendly, and they have equipment none of my PF locations have back home, namely several of the Hammer Strength Motion Technology Selectorised (MTS) machines, the SciFit Upper Body Exercisers (don't laugh--they aren't just for old people), and I think I saw at least one rowing machine but unsure. They are also open 24/7, which a lot of PF locations aren't back home. The gym itself is clean, and I was impressed with how well the locker room--especially the lockers themselves--is maintained. I wish Chicago PF locations were this nice. I know a lot of people gripe about their home gym, but you don't know how poor a place is until you visit a better place elsewhere.
