Three snaps is inadequate for this fantastical find! Wow - we spend a lot of time in Burnsville and are so glad we spent a recent Saturday afternoon at Snap Dragon. We will be back every time we are in town. In fact, we might plan special mountain trips just to go to Snap Dragon. For food, everything we had was yummy and plentiful. We had a burger, fries, a salad, and cannon balls - all delicious. The fried pickles are the best we have ever had, anywhere! The cocktail selection is great! Try the hurricanes - don't evacuate! These are not super sweet and there are many options. Category 2 and Category 3 are are favorites. We also enjoyed the Fire Tower and Painkiller. To top it off, the setting on the Burnsville square is quaint and Snap Dragon has indoor and outdoor seating amid lovely plants. They have beer and cider on tap, too. Ate there in January when snowstorm had us stuck in Burnsville and the sister restaurant next door, The Garden Deli, was closed due to weather. It was a very pleasant surprise. While in town went back 3 days ago. Great place to hang out for drinks and dinner. Our server was outstanding. Excellent egg roll appetizer. Absolutely some of THE BEST ribs I've ever eaten, and Asian slaw is a great compliment. Wife had a bowl of chili and grilled cheese sandwich. Absolutely wonderful experience at the snap dragon bar. My whole family came for a reunion and decided there was no better place to celebrate than the legendary Snap Dragon. The food was wonderful, and we ordered a variety of the offerings. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We came on a chilly night and sat right inside by the opened garage door. It was tucked in enough to make it comfortable from the cold. The place was packed and we were fortunate to get a table. We ordered appetizers of fried calamari and chips with salsa and guacamole. The chips were a little stale, but we were hungry and the salsa and guac was really good and fresh. The calamari came with fried rings and tentacles and was good. It took a while for our burgers to come so it was nice to have this to hold us over. We had wine and beer, but it seems the real draw are their hand-crafted cocktails. Maybe we'll try that another time. The burgers came with fries but I opted for the antipasti salad--so glad I did. Made with bright red sliced tomatoes, artichoke hearts and Greek olives and creamy dressing. Delicious. The burgers were cooked perfectly to order too--that doesn't usually happen. My husband and I arrived at this small but great restaurant during a light rain with cooler temperatures, which may have influenced my choice of comfort food for my entree. I ordered the combination grilled cheese with a cup of white bean chili. Gregory asked if I would like bacon and/or tomato on my sandwich, and I indeed thought the addition of tomato was a swell idea. It was honestly the best grilled cheese I have ever had--it was perfect. The chili was just the right amount of spicy and was served at the ideal temperature. My husband ordered the fish tacos and was very pleased, as he was with his choice of an IPA to accompany it. We loved the ambiance in this friendly bar/restaurant that seemed to be frequented by locals, as they were greeted by name. I was debating between leaving 1 Star or 2 stars... To be fair, the service at this place was good for the most part. The reason for the low score was the inability (or rather unwillingness) to deal with and take responsibility for a rather simple and not uncommon issue. 3 people in our party of 11 (6 adults) ordered the FISH TACOS. These were almost impossible to eat; the taste was horrible to say the least. We let one of the waiters know and he looked at us with that look of "oh ok, thanks for the feedback". I then let our main waitress know and she did not offer any way to make it better. She later came to our table and offered dessert. I asked her if the dessert was "on the house" and she said unfortunately no. She said that she spoke to the manager, who never came to our table, and was told that there was nothing they would do. Again, this place looks like a nice place to have a late snack but stay away from the tacos. And to the management I can only advice better customer service. I'm guessing that most of their clients are people on vacation so I'm guessing it doesn't really matter if they come back or not. My last meal at Snap Dragon is just that, the last meal I will ever order from Snap Dragon. There were 5 of us; sister ordered fish tacos that were almost gummy because of undercooked batter. They were also absolutely drenched in a sauce that seemed to be a spicy ranch, but was so overwhelmingly spicy that it was inedible. Since the server didn't offer to fix this, she tried to remove the sauce as much as possible. As you can imagine, this didn't help the already dismal texture of the fish. I had what is possibly the driest burger in captivity. It is generously sized, to be sure, but it's rather...puck-like in texture & taste. My other sister ordered a white chili with grilled cheese. The server did offer some additional suggestions for the sandwich...bacon, tomato, that sort of thing, it also was extremely dry. They use some sort of extremely crusty bread I guess. Like two enormous croutons. She said it was actually painful to bite into so she started dipping it into her chili. The menu has offered the same few "bar snacks" since they opened. The fries used to be fantastic, this time they tasted of old grease & my brother in law complained that he felt horrible after eating them. We tried explaining this to the server as well, but got a milquetoast "we appreciate the feedback" as a response. This place likes to present itself as a local watering hole, but the "locals" all seem to be from the gated resort community called Mountain Aire & have been heard to refer to the ACTUAL locals as "village people". A touch condescending, in my opinion. I'm an actual local & the family was visiting from "off". The booze offerings are pretty on point, if cocktails & craft beers are your thing. If it's beer you want, Homeplace is a better option. If you can get the owner out of his office to speak to your table, he really doesn't seem inclined to fix any issues you might have. Instead of offering to remove the fish tacos from our bill, his suggestion was that the server pay for it out of their tips, but I'm reasonably certain the server didn't cook our meals. Nor did they dump what looked like an entire container of spicy ranch onto the fish. That was entirely the kitchen. I ended up apologizing to my out of town family for the mess, but I'm about positive I'll never be allowed to pick the restaurant again. read more

For people like me who enjoy more low key, homey bars, this is the place for you! My boyfriend and I came here on a late, cold, January night originally to get food. Wow... the food here is absolutley incredibly. The best bar food I've ever had!! I love that most of their ingredients are all locally grown and made from scratch. I had the fish tacos and my bf had their burger. The meats on both of our dishes were so fresh. The real winner was the key lime pie that we had. Rustic "watering hole" vibe and cool ambiance with attractive outdoor patios. Lots of locals (seemed to know each other) taking up the bar seating. Very generous pours on the wine. Food was tasty tho the salsa and chicken chili were a bit on the spicy side. Really wanted to love this place, but a 30-40 minute wait for food after ordering and watching other tables being served who were seated after us won't cut it. A simple "we are short staffed today and appreciate your patience" or an offer to comp the chips and salsa could have gone a long way.
