The besssst

Late review, but after trying multiple hot dog stands and carts to find THE BEST ny dog I've ever had... this was the winner. There was no other hot dog that compared after a week of trying to fulfill my craving. Almost gave up hope trying a bunch of boiled, standard dogs. This stand was a beautiful accident we stumbled upon walking back to our hotel. They give you options to create your favorite hot dog. I decided to pick the good old New York dog toppings. What made this hot dog wasn't the toppings, but the crunch that the hot dog had. Soooo delicious. This definitely was the "you need to try a New York hot dog" I was looking for.

Hotdog with mustard & sauerkraut (+ $0.95)

SnackBox was the best hot dog I had while in NYC (sorry Nathan's)! I ordered mine NY style (..because, "When in Rome..."): with mustard and sauerkraut! It had a nice snap, a delicious toasted bun with a nice crust outside and soft and chewy inside. Total win in the encased meats department!

Let me start of by saying it's been years since I visited NYC specifically. The "Brooklyn Dog" was what I ordered off of the menu @ $5.50 per frank as I recall. This beef frank brought back childhood memories of the delicious franks you would find all over the city. It had the perfect amount of bite on the casing they used to make these franks. Topped off with sauerkraut & Brown mustard it was a home-run. If you are not used to NY style hot dogs, please remember they are not the cheap Esskay, Ballpark pork/chicken hot dogs commonly sold to the general public. Also they have some very tasty looking Sangria.

The worst. I can't even give them 1, but needed to say something. Service was the worst, food was served not well presented or cooked as needed to. Their bratwurst appeared undercooked. When I asked a question, the answer was "we are not here to accommodate you"

I'll be this first to admit it's more expensive than most street vendors ~11.75 for a lobster roll~ but it's worth it. Best, freshest lobster roll not in New England. There were literally full pieces of claw meat in the sandwich. It was bright and with acidic tones and fresh herbs. The slightly toasted generic hot dog bin was the perfect vessel, it let the lobster meat shine, and it shined. Milkshake had tons of fresh vanilla flavor and was great (though maybe not worth 6 bucks and change) The service was a little slow, but only because they pay attention to detail. They also have baked goods from around the city (i.e.. doughnuts from doughnut plant) Side Note: It was really cool, Priscilla Queen of the Desert was shooting a promo and so a very ripped man in a backless dress and hair thing was singing and dancing with the crowd.

Many New Yorkers rave about the hot dogs in the city. Once I was able to spot a hot dog stand in Times Square, I was all in! Luckily, the "SnackBox" name caught my eye. It was right in the middle of Times Square. With people constantly walking, I was determined to get my hands on a hotdog. I was nicely served by the guys at SnackBOX. I had the regular hot dog with pineapple relish and fresh onions ($5). It was delicious, but nothing that made me say.. "Woowwww that was amazing!" Also, more extras on your hotdog, the more it will become pricey. Nevertheless, it was good, just don't expect high expectations.

I stopped by SnackBOX several times while staying at the nearby W Hotel. The first time was just to try a hot dog, but then it turned out to be one of the best hot dogs I've ever eaten. Over the course of four days, I just kept going back for more! Best hot dogs ever! I had several variations of toppings, but what made the hot dog so great for me was the hot dog itself and the bun that it was served on. The beef hot dogs tasted great, had just the right amount of crunch of the casing, and was not overly salty. The buns were soft and a bit chewy - the perfect texture to complement the sausage. I tried three combinations of toppings, but my favorite was the green tomato relish!

Amazing lobster roll / Hot dog w pineapple relish /Chorizo w onions

This place is a hidden gem smack in the middle of Times Square, ironic as that seems. We got a hot dog with pineapple relish, chorizo with onions, and a lobster roll. My favorites were the chorizo and lobster roll. Hot dog was ok. The Chorizo had a perfect bite and was very flavorful. The Lobster Roll was very good, probably better than the ones at Chelsea Market. The lobster was fresh and sandwiched between a perfectly buttered and toasted bun. Not many places have great buns, but this is what makes this place stand out from other street food places in NYC. Like other reviewers said, it's a little pricey but worth it because you can taste the quality.

Actually was digging this roll more than Luke's lobster! Seemed to have a bit more meat and was a mayo based lobster salad with perfect celery and chives on top. Might get another one in about an hour

First time traveller to NY and first time experiencing a NY hotdog... definitely was not disappointed. Great location, adequate seating, fast friendly service, price decent (considering the location and general high prices of street food in Times Square) I ordered the "Times Square " which was fully loaded with grilled onions, peppers, bacon and mustard. Great flavour combo ! If I get the chance I'll definitely go back and try the "Brooklyn"

Excellent hot dog. It's a nice stand out on the street with hot dogs, shakes and some sweets. Paid $10 for a hot dog and a lemonade, NYC is pricey so this is ok.

Hot dogs are Oh So Good! For a Price... Food: 3.5 Stars Snackbox has one of the "best" hotdogs I have tried in the city. On that note I should state it is very rare I eat hotdogs. The overall flavor is good and the skin has a nice little snap when you bite into the hotdog. The add-ons mostly range from .50 to 1.00, but the quantity given is a rather healthy amount. I am a big fan of onions and the caramelized onions are cooked properly. The pretzels are leaps and bounds better than the ones you would get from a street vendor. There is no comparison. I love those caramelized onions. Service/Speed: 4 Stars I haven't waiting on any lines so far, which means I can't judge how fast the service is during the lunch rush. Every time I have come here I never waited longer than 5 minutes to order and receive my food. Once again, I am never around for the major rush. The service is friendly and happy to help you. One of the workers was so happy he did a little spin and the hotdog went flying across the food cart and fell to the ground. I was happy when he followed all the proper procedures to ensure the sanitary quality remained high. He picked up and threw out the hotdog, removed his gloves, washed his hands, and put on a new pair of gloves before preparing another hot dog. While those steps should be the standard, it isn't in most places. Overall: 3.5 Stars In comparison to the majority of hotdogs for sale on the streets of New York this is your best bet. While there are other vendors out there that are just and good, as well as half the price out there, they aren't easy to find. In the end you pay for the quality. If you pass by Snackbox in Times Square and are craving hotdogs and pretzels, this is your best bet.

I was on a hunt to find a place that can match up to the dogs in LA - and I think I found the spot. Although they didn't beat out the LA dogs in my opinion, their dogs/toppings are BOMB! The Pineapple sauce and the green sauce (forgot what it was actually called) made the dogs tastes great. And their Kosher dogs were delicious. I over heard they got moved from their original spot but still in Times Square, so keep an eye out for this spot.

One of the best hot dogs i've had in NYC. Good place for a quick fix of street food, including popcorn, pretzels and milkshakes.

Surprisingly really good lobster roll right in the middle of Times Square. Wasn't huge, but was definitely enough for a quick lunch.

While food took awhile, we were no in a rush and the employees were friendly. The crif burger and New Yorker were too basic for me, but I enjoyed the elote topping for the elote dog. The tots were a nice side to pair with your meal. There's nothing like some hot dogs and burgers before/after drinking, so it's a smart pairing being next to all the bars. Would I come here solely for the hot dogs and burgers? Probably not. But it works great together with PDT.

The crif is pork and beef, New Yorker (all beef) and veggie option. I did a New Yorker (all beef) $4.75 with sauerkraut ($0.75) and the Spicy Redneck which featured a bacon wrapped crif dog with chili, coleslaw and picked jalapeños. Both satisfied the hot dog craving I had. There are also tater tots and burgers available. The bread was a bit stale, hence the 3 stars and the bun split on my New Yorker making it messy to eat. The woman behind the counter was friendly and suggested I try the dog featured this month- featuring a fried pickle or the Tsunami which has teriyaki sauce and pineapples. I would stop here again if in the area, but for basic dog a cart will hit the spot.

The food was ready quick as they handed straight from the grill to the counter. Both of the sides were hot and crispy although it needed the ketchup for some flavor. While the burgers are petite, they're satisfying and just enough with a side to pair. I liked how easy the burger was to chew as all the beef, cheese, onions and bread just melted together. Overall, solid spot for a quick meal. It's less oily than 7th Street Burger and the meal is hot and fresh as they cook it right in front of you.
