Bruges was so beautiful with its rivers flowing through Minnewater Park. My friend and I were…read moreenjoying the lovely scenery and decided we'd stop by a random restaurant for dinner on our first night in Belgium, and that took us to t' Minnewater. The restaurant offers outdoor seating with a cover/heat lamps, making it bearable during colder months. We noticed that this particular spot had all the patrons compared to other ones so we figured to be safe than sorry- follow the crowds. We ordered two main entrees to split: - Mussels and Frites (€19.95) - Dowsed in white wine sauce with a basket of fries on the side, this was our must-eat while in Belgium. The offering here was good but the white wine they used to cook them in lacked that kick I was looking for. Still a good portion with decent mussels to enjoy. - Vlammse Stoverij (€15.95) - Bruges' popular beef stew that everyone in the chocolate shops recommended we try. The plate of meat was not bad but a bit on the saltier side. I could have used some more bread to help combat some of that sodium. We were both stuffed by the end of our meal that we didn't bother with dessert... yet. So not a bad restaurant to try some Belgian offerings. Would come back to this area again for another bite if the opportunity permits.

Stopped by for a late lunch during our day trip to Brugge. There were to different set-lunch menus…read moreoffered. Both offered a appetizer, entree, and dessert. Both price levels offered different selections which I liked a lot. We got a 15.90€ option with mussels in cream sauce, panseared salmon, and ice cream along with a 20.95€ option with soup of the day, stewed beef, and a slice of cake. The soup of the day was tomato soup. It was thick and hearty and you can tell it was made with real vegetables. The mussels in cream sauce was flavorful and fresh. The salmon was fresh and tasty. The bernaise sauce it was served with added a nice touch. The stewed beef was flavorful and tender but seemed a bit dry to me (if that even makes sense). Both entrees were served with a small salad and plenty of fries (which was amazing). The ice cream was, well, ice cream but the slice of cake was delicious! Layers of chocolate, cake, and what tasted like a mixed nut cream was amazing - not too sweet and not too heavy. I would recommend this place for the value of the food but if you're in a rush, this may not be the place for you. Lunch took a little over an hour - we got there at 2pm and did not finish until 3:10pm. We are pretty quick diners. Service was good despite the speed.
