DETOX SHOT - GINGER, TUMERIC, LIME, PINEAPPLE
    Daren R.

Thought this Smoothie Spot was a tiny common smoothie joint but I was dead wrong. Upon entering, it was massive and instantly felt the intended relaxed zen atmosphere. Just stood at the center of the store admiring the decor and large menu emphasizing on healthy eats including omelettes, wraps, smoothies, acai and grain bowls, protein coffee frappe, salads, empanadas and detox shots. The two chatty employees explained some of their specialty offerings and best selling items. They provided samples of a ginger and pineapple smoothie which was deposited but I wanted something slightly more radical. I went with the detox shot that was prepared with ginger, turmeric, pineapple and lime. Holy Moly, the taste is not for the timid expecting a smooth quick drink. The tumeric had a strong peppery taste slightly overwhelmed the other ingredients. It left a short lived burn at the back of my throat but well complemented with the sweet pineapple. Great staff and had an interesting experience here and will return for a smoothie.

Met a friend at Smoothie Spot today for lunch. It is located in the same plaza as Kristof's, a few doors down. I opted for the almond butter toast. It was very good! I also had a chocolate smoothie that was perfectly made (forgot to take photo). We spent some time talking with the manager. She brought us over a smoothie sample. It had beets in it, but you wouldn't have known it (thankfully - as I hate beets). She also treated us to a latte with added cacao - so good too! My friend purchased Pup Snouthie Box for her dog. It is basically a happy meal (toy included) for the dogs. Everything was super fresh and the service was very friendly. Can't wait to return!

It's not the kind of place I normally would go to, but I really enjoyed what I eat. I started with a chicken empanada. It was not deep fried, it was baked, not overcooked and it had very good flavor. The sauce that came with it, also very good. After that I had a Mediterranean bowl. It surprised me! Chicken that had really good flavor! The feta was very good as well. The combination af the chicken, feta cheese, quinoa and the vegetables really worked good together. My wife had a acia bowl and a café con lettche, she really liked it. I'll definitely eat here again.

When you arrive to the Smoothie Spot, you are welcomed with a tropical atmosphere with palm center pieces and wood accents. There is an option to place your order right when you walk through the door at an ordering kiosk or at the counter where orders are picked up. After placing our order, my party and I sat and waited for our name to be called as we're were doing a to-go order. With the other two parties pretty much leaving when we arrived, we didn't think there would be much of a wait for our order. 15 minutes in and another customer placed an order which seemed to take awhile as this customer was only ordering a smoothie. For 2 bowls and a smoothie, it took about 30 minutes for us to get everything. The food overall tasted very good and fresh. In the Pina Colada smoothie, you tasted every ingredient listed. The Almond Ally bowl, the almond butter brings all the flavors of the fruits together. Lastly, the Latin Lover bowl, it was colorful, smelled delicious, and very flavorful. Overall, the food was good but the prices and service are a bit of a turn off for a future return.

A little on the pricier side for Davie. But definitely convenient for people who go to the gym around the corner to get a refreshing smoothie. Smoothies range from $8.99+. What I like about the smoothies is that it's made from fresh fruits & it was tasty. I got the mango one and have tried the green smoothie before. We also ordered a Latin bowl and it had really good plantains & hangover steak, however the rice was very under cooked. I did enjoy the garlic cilantro sauce on top of the entree. I thought that was tasty. Inside the smoothie spot, it was aesthetically appealing and very spacious. I like the vibes of this place and how clean it is. I would definitely come back to try their other menu options. Staff was nice and explained the menu to us which was helpful, service was up to par.

This is my new after-futbol go-to spot to help this old body recover! The decor is amazing and gives off tropical rainforest vibes! The food is made to order and is so delicious! There's something for everyone! The smoothies are organic and fresh - perfect for a hot South Florida summer or if you're simply looking to give your body a boost! The service was on point, and the table service was excellent -- the staff are very friendly and courteous!

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED Really really good food and smoothies. Cute decor and very clean inside. The lady who took my order was very sweet explaining that they use no oils and that everything is very fresh. Really tasty and will be back again. A tad pricy but I ordered the small sizes and was able to take some home.

Who doesn't love a "spot" that serves delicious, healthy food, fresh smoothies, and a playlist that makes you want to stay longer than you planned? The decor? Picture-perfect, of course. I had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and a Tropical Breeze smoothie. Everything was fresh and just how I like it. They give you a number, and then bring the food right to your table, so you can chill and get some work done while you wait. Glad I found this hidden gem. The customer service was just as good as the food; easily one of my favorite smoothie spots now!

Upon entering, the boho chic decor is striking, inviting you to admire it. The cafe is clean and new, with attentive service. The staff explained various smoothie options, which go beyond just smoothies. I enjoyed a delicious chicken empanada as well. For $15.49, I got a large smoothie and an empanada. Highly recommended!

They actually have pandebono. It's soft and warm and super delicious. I hope it does well but it will be slightly hard to compete with Kristoffs on some items for sure

If you have kids, the outdoor seating is perfect because they can run around the plaza while you relax and eat. It makes it a lot less stressful than a typical sit-down restaurant with little ones. Maple and Cream - Honest Review…read more I wanted to like this place, but overall it just wasn't for me. The service was great--staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance is also really nice, with a clean, trendy setup that's clearly going for a Southern-style brunch vibe. They definitely nailed the look and feel. They also offer a military discount, which I appreciated. Just a heads up though--a 20% tip is automatically included, so keep that in mind when you get the bill. That said, the food didn't match the experience. The menu leans heavily into Southern-style comfort food, but it ends up being too heavy and a bit overpriced for what you get. Food Breakdown: * Chicken & Waffles (5/10): The waffle was actually really good--great texture and flavor. But the chicken threw me off. It was cooked, but the inside had a pink color that made it hard to enjoy. On top of that, there was way too much paprika, which overpowered everything. * Banana Bread Latte (10/10): This was . Easily the best thing I had. Super flavorful, smooth, and perfectly balanced. One of the best lattes I've had. * Cinnamon Rolls (4/10): Not terrible, but inconsistent. One had some type of filling while the others didn't, and overall it felt like it was missing a glaze or sauce to tie it all together. * Potato Chips (10/10): Surprisingly one of the highlights. Fresh, crispy, and packed with flavor. * Pancakes (2/10): Fluffy texture, but the flavor was off. It tasted like a mix of vanilla or banana, and once you add syrup, it becomes way too sweet. * The Daily Grind (Egg Plate): * Eggs: decent, nothing special * Sausage: had jalapeño inside but tasted dry * Bacon: thick, hard, maple-smoked flavor--not great for breakfast (would be better on a burger) * Biscuit: not bad, but a little dry (4/10) Overall: Great service, good ambiance, and nice perks like the military discount--but the food just didn't deliver. It felt too heavy, overly seasoned, and inconsistent, especially for the price. Final Rating: 3/5 Saved by the latte, chips, and overall experience--but I probably wouldn't come back for the food.

Ally's Comfort Cafe - 136th and State Road 84 in Davie…read more I really did not want to leave this review. I tried with all of my might to do everything I could to not leave this review. Ally's comfort Café has been a staple in Northwest Davie forever. *Now, Ally, moved away a little while ago and new owners took over. They kept the same recipes which made us hopeful that things would pretty much remain the same. But little by little all of the staff that had been there for years started leaving. I think there's only a couple of the longtime staff left. We'll get back to the staff in a moment. My wife and I go to Ally's every Saturday morning. We go there have a great breakfast and then go to the Publix next-door to do our weekly shopping. There's obviously going to be hiccups when new owners take over a restaurant. We totally understand this. But some things are just not improving. They open at 8 AM on Saturdays. But, between 8 and 9 AM there's only one waitress and one bus boy this didn't always used to be the case. They used to have the full staff and someone at the door to take names. He would also help out by getting you drinks or more coffee if you needed it. It worked really well for the small family restaurant. The new owners took over and at some point they decided they only needed limited staff between 8 and 9 AM on Saturdays. And of course, every Saturday my wife and I go in there. It gets packed and the waitress is running around like her head is cut off and the busboy is overwhelmed. This isn't a one time thing it has been constant since they made the staffing change. It's completely unfair to the waitress and busboy and it's also a complete turn off to patrons who have to wait sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes just for the poor waitress to come and take their order this morning. A couple waited 20 minutes before their order was taken. Also, the owner/manager doesn't get there until almost 9 herself, which means there's no management in the restaurant to help with the register or put out "fires." It. Is. Not. Working. Ally's has been known for their specials for years. They always have amazing special pancakes and special French toast. It's one of the main reasons we still go there. It's our little weekly treat. Lately the specials have been very monotonous. Some sort of jelly put on some French toast or some sort of cream put on a pancake. Not real imaginative for instance, today was banana cream and chocolate pancakes. It was a dollop of banana cream on a chocolate pancake that had little taste. One could've added some fresh bananas, or maybe some whipped cream on top of that. Meanwhile, the special pancakes and special French toast are often made wrong by the staff. This happened this morning. It took them twice to get the pancakes right and three times to get the French toast, right. Again, this is not a one time occur occurrence. We never complain. But we were surprised to still see those items on the bill and not discounted at all, but that's OK. The thing that really drove me to write this review, is that I waited for more than 10 minutes to speak to the owner/manager on our way out. I thought the best way to handle our dissatisfaction would be to speak to her personally. She disappeared into the kitchen, and even after the waitress went to tell her we were waiting to speak with her, she was nowhere to be found. No I understand things come up in the kitchen, but she could've at least came out and said hey I know you're here, I'm dealing with a problem, I'll be right back. But we waited and waited and waited and nothing despite all of the above, that's what irked me the most. I will say this. The food is still very good. And the waitresses and buses are amazing. None of this is their fault. They should all be paid more in dealing with a kitchen that can't get right and an owner that can't seem to figure out good customer service. We will certainly give them another chance, it's part of our routine. But after biting my tongue, I had to let everyone know what was happening at one of our favorite spots in Broward County.
