This Smoothie King is an absolute dumpster fire. I ordered one large Pineapple Recovery and two 20 oz smoothies. Somehow these clowns managed to ring it up as a 20 oz Pineapple Recovery and two 44 oz smoothies. When I pointed it out, instead of fixing their screw-up, they shoved the receipt in my face like that proved anything. Newsflash: your receipt just shows how badly you botched the order. If your cashier can't handle the basic task of punching buttons on a register, maybe they shouldn't be behind the counter. Don't dump your mistakes on me. I don't pay extra for incompetence. This location is a complete embarrassment. The crew doesn't care, the service is trash, and the management clearly isn't doing their job. So usually I opt for the drive thru. Today, I decided to go in, for some reason, and kinda glad I did. I order my regular, medium Blueberry Heaven with Frozen yogurt. As I walked into the store, no other customers were in the store. There were two somewhat visible workers, one was on her phone by the cash register and one guy was washing some blenders. As I was paying for my smoothie, I noticed a gnat fly right by me and then noticed there were a number of gnats by their bananas. I simply asked if they had fresh bananas in the peal, and the worker said she would have to ask her manager. I thought that was odd, but she did. Another lady came from the back, thinking she was the manager and said the bananas are fresh and the bananas with brown are full of flavor and they can't offer fresh bananas in the peel as they don't have any to offer. I then noticed a small red object by the bananas and saw gnats all around it. I just asked for no bananas and was actually grossed out, as I was thinking that all the other times I've ordered, there might have been some gnats in my bananas from the blueberry heaven I've ordered. I get it, fruit flies are a thing, but maybe they need to keep kids on their fruit to protect the fruit from fruit flies or other insects. I simply took the smoothie after it was made and didn't drink it, as it kinda made me sick thinking there were fruit flies or gnats in the smoothie. Not sure if this location is simply not as clean as others, and I've visited a number of them in Indiana. Maybe I should have just gone through the drive thru, or maybe they should offer the smoothies with fresh bananas, or keep the fruit covered. Serving as nom de plume for my daughter who lives at this establishment, I finally had the chance to see what all the hype was about. Headline: they have good smoothies. This trip was a drive-through affair, battling 90-degree temps with a little brain-freeze. Our car served as an adequate waiting space as we idled six feet behind the other queued souls having our same idea. Thumbs up to the mobile ordering process. We had about 5 minutes in line, which gave us plenty of time to order up two giant contraptions. Even better, it was $5 day, so you can bet we took advantage of that. They were cold-and-ready at the window when we finally arrived. Our daughter, the seasoned pro, stuck with her mostly favorite of peanut butter and chocolate, etc, and not surprisingly loved it. The other choice was angel food and strawberry, also tasty. Going between the two was like some sort of lunch-dessert combo. There were four of us in the car and only two wanted smoothies, but we basically had enough for everybody with those generous cup sizes. While we footed the bill, my daughter ordered from her app and was excited to move closer to that ever-elusive "free Xth smoothie", which I'm surprised she hasn't knocked out multiple times this summer. It took the edge off the heat and lessened the pain of grocery shopping afterward, with those smoothie cups in the cart cupholder. The employees here like to mess with kids in the parking lot after they are closed and supposed to be cleaning. One even came out and crossed the street to peeper spray a 12yr old sitting on a bench then ran off. When police arrived non of the other employees were cooperative and one even started threatening the police. Very disappointed in my experience tonight. I'm not necessarily a regular, but this isn't my first trip. I ordered two 40oz smoothies through the drive through for a total of $21.35, of which I received no receipt. The first one came out perfect. The second was super low, you couldn't even see the color through the lid. I asked the employee at the window if this was normal as it was significantly lower than the top of the cup and I had paid for extra strawberries. She proceeded to tell me that the lip on the cup was 40oz like I was really wasting her time. Yes, but it's still more than a half inch above the level of smoothie in the cup and I paid for extra strawberries. I was very disappointed in the customer service and the quantity of product I received. She offered finally to remake it, but with her attitude, I didn't think that was the best option. It generally takes a while to get our smoothies as the service isn't all that quick in the drive-through but today the car in front of us paid with a handful of change which took a long time for the clerk to count. When she finally came back to the window the girl handed her some kind of a gift card and then she disappeared for another five minutes. Then a drink finally came out the window with 2 straws and a receipt. Then more waiting and then another drink come out the window. It appears as though the girl realizes she had enough money on the gift card to order a second drink and did so at the window after we'd all been waiting for more than 15 minutes for her to move. Until I moved to Granger. There's a Smoothie King about 5 minutes from my house, so I thought I'd give them another try. There's now a huge menu that's broken down by the type of smoothie. I always opt for something pineapple, which gives me a ton of options. The staff is also really helpful when it comes to what goes well with your choice: "a lot of people like it with strawberries," "you can add protein or greek yogurt to that." With so many options, I really appreciate the extra guidance. This location also gets points for drive-thru, because lazy. But the icing on the cake is that I was running late the other day, hadn't eaten anything and only had a few minutes to spare. I opened up my Yelp app to look at the menu so I could be sure of what I wanted when I arrived, and noticed you can now order ahead with Grubhub! Mind blown! I am not sure why people say this place has fast service- they must have used the drive-thru. I have been here 5 times now, and each time it takes 20-30 minutes. They serve the drive-thru customers first and will get around to in-store customers smoothies once there isn't a line in the drive-thru. Saturday I waited 25 minutes from when I ordered to the point that they called me for my smoothie. You have to do what you have to do... it's the only place I know of for smoothies in the area- Jamba Juice, near Notre Dame, has closed. The ONLY reason I gave this place 3-stars is because they do make a quality product. Unique combinations to make flavorful smoothies, most of which are healthy. We've been here half a dozen times now and have tried something different every time. So far, while I've personally enjoyed some flavors more than others, I haven't had one that I didn't like yet. I like how they have regular and vegan options, they're fresh and nutritious, and the calorie count is clearly labelled with the ingredients.
