How is this establishment even still open? At noon, they were out of fresh fruit--even though there's a Safeway right around the corner. It seems like someone could have made an early morning run to restock. This isn't the first time, either. Every time I try to order an açaí bowl, there's always an issue: either they're out of açaí or they don't have fresh fruit. For a business that specializes in açaí bowls, that just doesn't make sense. On top of that, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I greeted the manager with a friendly "Good morning," and her response was simply, "How may I help you?" in a tone that made it seem like she didn't want to be there. Horrible service and largely due to the owner of the store. I had my service animal there and she complained about it and made both of us feel unwanted. I gave it another try and when the team member forgot to add strawberries to my drink she wouldn't fix it and said that they have a (1) drink correction fix and wouldn't give me my money back even though they messed it up/ it up. I usually like to support minority business owners but not when they give such a bad 'attitude' when you provide an opportunity to fix the matter. I attempted to call the store, but no one answered, then I immediately went back in the app and deleted one drink and resented the revised order. However,when I walked to pick up my order they had 3 drinks made. I explained what happened and the OWNER - pretty much said, she didn't care, she used her product and it wasn't her fault. I thought I would give this place a second try. My first visit, I stood in line for 7 minutes and not one employee spoke or greeted me, so I left. Two months later I make a second attempt hoping for better results. Sadly, nothing much has changed. I walked in and was third in line and again no employees speak. Get your systems in your store fixed so that when people submit mobile orders that you receive them. Don't make it seem like it's the customers fault that your system didn't catch the mobile order. However, the customer can show you in your face, while being polite, that the mobile order clearly went through and payment was received. It wasn't a huge deal initially, I stood there and waited for you to figure out your system. However, for you to turn around and tell a customer, you can't help how they perceive the words, when they share with you privately that what you said was offensive, oh I guess that took you to another level condescending, rude, and disrespectful behavior ... But it is the fact that the owner and manage of the Bowie, Maryland location (there's only one) of Smoothie King did not take ownership of their error. It is the fact that I had to take time out of my day to call and go back to the store to get the run around. It is the fact that when completing their survey and I asked to be contacted, I never was. It is the fact that the refund that was supposed to post back to my account in three days still has not posted (this 12th calendar day/the seventh business day). September 28, 2023 @ 7:42 am, my order that was placed around 7:30 was to be ready for me to pick up. I arrived at 7:41am (I know, I was early) To find the lights off and the doors locked. I saw another customer walking away from the door (smoothieless) and a delivery truck in the middle of the road (maybe waiting on them to open up). I walked up to the door anyway and yeah it was locked. I waited for a minute to see if anyone was moving around inside; there wasn't. So I left and went to their competitor instead (I was on a schedule). the next day, I called to store and told them I needed a refund and why. She took my name and order number, and phone number for the manager to call me. No call. I went to the store that evening and spoke to a manger. He told me the owner automatically refunds for any orders not filled due to opening late. he also told me that it would take three days to post to my account. I asked about the $2 reward used to make the purchase and the manager was more concerned about them giving me an extra $2 in case the refund included the reward vs providing even adequate customer service. Trust is powerful thing. Once it's gone it's hard to get back. I trusted Smoothie King in Bowie, MD to prepare my order as I requested and (this is the important part) make it available for me to pick up. Ordering ahead is great because I'm on a time schedule on mornings and waiting in line is inconvenient. So I have no intention to go back to this location because I don't trust them. I didn't realize smoothies could ever have so many options lol. After the staff walked me through the different menus, I ended up purchasing the Island Impact from the Slim Down menu. It was soooo good. I wish I remembered the name of the young woman who helped me and took my order because she was so tremendously helpful and educated on the smoothies and the products that were put in. Was very disappointed that when I asked if there was a way to make a children's non-dairy shake I was told no and the person taking my order didn't even show the smallest amount of willingness to help. There is a Vegan option so I cannot understand why it is not possible to make one for a child. The only option I was given was to get the Vegan shake in the children's size yet I would still have to pay the regular size price. I truly don't believe there wasn't a way to make a simple chocolate non-dairy shake when they a have Vegan option. And if you truly can't just explain why. Being out of ingredients or not having them is completely understandable but IMO unwillingness to help or even take the time to elaborate on why you "can't" make something is terrible service. I've just caught on to this whole "smoothie fad" and I'm pretty much addicted. So now, I'm trying different smoothie spots around town. After a vigorous work-out, I stopped pass this location to try their smoothies. Since I was a newbie to this franchise, the woman at the register (I assume the manager) literally took her time to walk me through the entire menu. She made suggestions and asked me questions to find out what my particular needs were. I finally ordered and noticed I had a line full of people waiting behind me. I couldn't see them, but I'm sure she did, and she still took her time explaining the menu. Excellent customer service!! I ordered a lean smoothie that she suggested. Can't remember the name of it, but I know it contained strawberry protein. I copped a squat at the only table provided and waited for my smoothie to be prepared. As I was waiting, I noticed they sell health supplements and other healthy items towards the back of the store. The speakers were pumping some good old R&B/Soul music and the flow of traffic for after 8pm on a Friday night, was very steady. It could be that all 32oz (medium) smoothies are $5 every Friday. Or it could be that they're just that good and in a perfect location for smoothie go'ers. The smoothies can be a bit on the pricey side because had it not been $5 Friday, the particular smoothie I ordered would've been almost $9. Winning! The smoothie was made quickly and I was on my way out the door enjoying my delicious meal replacement smoothie. My husband went to this location this afternoon I told him to get me a strawberry pineapple with spinach smoothie. The ingredients were right however it was a vegan one it was a way to sweet. I went in for an exchange and the young lady tells be we don't replace smoothies I said well can I have my money back she says no that's where she messed up. The staff is ALWAYS a delight and the establishment is clean and well maintained. One of the perks I love about this location is the owner will talk to you about the various proteins, smoothies, and other products she has available. Decided to give them a try one day and now I'm here almost three times a week. I've been to other locations and this one is my favorite. Very clean and always have everything in stock. The staff was very helpful with me my first couple of times as I didnt know what to get and they have lots of options. I have my drink down and typically get the same thing every visit. I felt very dismissed by the owner at this location. I wanted to order a 20oz and use my coupon, but the coupon required me to order a 32oz. Once my app was scanned for my points it automatically used my available points on my app, so the owner gave me my coupon back. I then asked the owner if she could re ring me for the 20oz and manually give me a $2 off discount. It took a minute for her to understand what I was asking, while noticing her getting irritated. She informed me that wasnt possible and walked away. I asked if we were done, and if I'm still good for the 32oz. She replied, "yes, we're done with this conversation". When I told the young woman, she began to make a new one, yay. I would have asked for the correct formula but I didnt want to watch her make it 3 more times.
