Smooth moves moved me twice in the past 6 months - Super nice guys and very easy to work with making this move "smooth."

THIEVES!!! Not only did they steal my Smith and Wesson 38 hand gun and broke the cable connector in the back of my ROKU TV but they also helped themselves to approximately $400 worth of frozen meats and a large box of canned foods, rice, beans, soups, etc. I'm 71 years old. How would he or they (there were two of them) feel if someone did that to their grandma? I'm someone's grandma. There were only us 3 that had access to the gun and food. ME and THEM! I don't have the gun nor the food. It gets worse. They moved me into an apartment for seniors on limited income. They didn't care and obviously neither did their boss i reported as I unpacked. But the guys sat several boxes on top of my freezer and with Christmas and my age I am certain they knew it would take a while to unpack and look inside. I'm heartbroken! I've been crying. But I am reporting to the Dept of Professional Regulations and the BBB. I pray this guy or guys get caught. I will be prosecuting if my stolen handgun is found. I had it 16 years. read more

Smooth Moves saved the day, best movers in Jacksonville. We have had horrible experiences with movers but Jason, Gavin, Chester, and Nate were absolutely incredible!!!! They worked so hard and made sure that nothing was left behind even though there were open boxes and scattered toys. We have used Smooth Moves several times and each experience has been great! They arrive on time and get right to work. They are conscientious, friendly and hard workers. This last move was into a storage unit until our home in the Charlotte area is finished. We will then use Smooth Moves to bring all of this to our new home. I would not trust any other moving company. My sister used Smooth Moves when she moved to St. Augustine from Pittsburgh and raved about them. They moved her baby grand piano and no damage done. We used Smooth Moves in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, to move us to south Florida in early August 2022. My husband was present at time of loading. The movers complained to him that we had too many small boxes. Earlier I had made a small deposit to secure our moving date and sign a contract. No receipt given to me, but I took a photo and later printed. I also printed the initial price quote which had the same contract details. We decided to pay cash because there was a 3% fee to use credit card. One-half down of remaining balance was due upon loading and the last one-half balance paid at time of unloading. The mover asked for the full amount and my husband showed him the contract to prove that only half was due at loading. When the loading was almost finished a third mover arrived and asked for full payment also. My husband had to say "don't you read your contract?" He was rude and expressed no concern for us as customers. I was very angry that the movers didn't use the mattress bags that we provided. I didn't want our mattresses to get dirty! We had a cover on our expensive leather chair for moving - one mover sat down on it while dripping in sweat and drenched the cover! Our two sons were present at unloading and movers complained again that there were a lot of small boxes, even though our sons each helped unload for over two hours to speed things up. The movers stacked several boxes improperly which fell over breaking an expensive pottery dish as well as some glasses. Our wardrobe box with our best coats and suits was completely crushed. Terrible experience, the only reason they have such high ratings is because the movers ask you to rate as soon as they're done. Dented my fridge. Refused to pay for it because I didn't report within 24 hours. They charge you up to the minute and round up. Guys were nice that moved the furniture. The owner joe doesn't make things right like he says he does. Go with another Moving company. They have lost my business and my friends and families business in the future. read more

The inattention to detail even before the contract was signed was all it took to tell me this company will not pay attention to the details of the move. I called initially by phone and didn't get straight answers so I tried email. I had to repeatedly ask the same questions that went unanswered despite the fact that I provided all the information they requested in my initial email. How many times do I have to tell a mover the day, time and number of men needed? How many times do I have to tell a mover the addresses? Don't pay attention to your potential customers and they go away and leave one star ratings for the world to see. read more

Ive waited a few weeks to write this review bc i was really not happy right after and wanted to make sure I'm objective. The two men who moved me started off very polite and helpful. However the fact that it took them 4 hours to move me out of my one bedroom apt when it took other movers 2 1/2 wasn't impressive at all. These men took a ton of breaks and used my toilet a lot (claiming - and probably did have- stomach problems and btw left it disgustingly dirty). The fact they work getting paid by the hour isn't a good thing. From what i can tell, they stretch that to make more $. When i realized how long it was taking, mentioned it and that I'd planned a total of 4 hours for my move (the woman that answered phones said it should take 3 when i booked them! I added an hour bc of the long sidewalk and stairs at the apt) they got to business unloading my things at the next place. They knocked off 30 min off the time and i did appreciate that. I don't know why but i gave them 20 each for a tip. Neither said thank you - that's a lot of money to me when i work my ass off for it! Clearly they make a lot at what they do and its probably bc they take forever to move you. I will not call this company to move me next time. read more

Unless you're moving across town from a small space avoid this company, period. I can't express what the nightmare this move was. Moving/packing a 2800 sq ft home (my sister) and moving a 1600 sq ft apt (already packed, me)...same property would take two 26ft trucks from Alpine, TN, first to Jax, Fl then the second truck on to Fort Lauderdale at $12,500 (half in cash upon leaving TN the other half certified check on arrival in Fort Lauderdale, strange, but OK). OK, arrived 12 hours late with one truck (traffic, understandable). Had to navigate 10 mls of mountain highway to get the second truck. Got back and started. Good! Long story, short. The move was to Jax for my sister, pick up a few things there for me and continue on to Fort Lauderdale with the second truck. Sister rode all night so she could be there Saturday for the delivery of her household. She was so exhausted (83 yo) it wasn't possible...Joe, manager/owner charged her an additional $700 to wait an additional day...some scratches and a broken table leg, nothing big. They got here, Fort Lauderdale, sometime after dark Monday and got me unloaded about 1:30 A Tuesday...more or less OK. Now, the kicker...asking all the time, "is there going to be enough room?" Turns out no, there wasn't. There is a 5/10' storage room in TN still full. Manager/owner, Joe, No problem, just leave. I have no complaints with the team, Jose, team leader, Chester, and Chris. They were understaffed, undersupplied, and overworked! while the manager is in my opinion either greedy or just incompetent, probably the latter! I'm retired, but it's an interesting business model...rent/buy supplies/few actual employs...maybe I should start moving company? read more

I will never use another moving company again! I had SO much anxiety approaching my move because my previous move was a nightmare. Smooth Moves sent 3 wonderful gentlemen who were on time, friendly and efficient. They unpacked my 2 large storage units, loaded the truck and re-packed my remaining items into a smaller storage unit, drove across town and unloaded at my new place, set up my bed AND swapped out the washer and dryer in the unit in record time. My husband is in the Navy, and we were moving most of our things into storage for his upcoming deployment. We were originally just going to pay basically a couple of random guys to help us move the big items, thinking we could handle the rest ourselves, but at the last minute, we called Smooth Moves to see if maybe they could help us out. Joe, I believe to be the owner, was great about making our move happen -- with less than 24 hours notice. He really went out of his way to help us (did I mention we were moving on Labor Day Weekend?) The movers who came, RJ and Vic (ask for them!), were professional and efficient. We were paying by the hour, so we were worried they might drag their feet, but they did in 3 hours what would have taken us and four people all day. It was amazing how they just whipped our heavy oak bedroom set around the tight corners of our stairs, like the furniture weighed nothing. Loved it Smooth Moves was the best!!! I used them for a local move and was totally impressed with their professionalism. When it came time to make the move from Pittsburgh to St. Augustine I was concerned about moving my baby grand piano, as well as if they indeed did long distance moves. Not only did they reassure me about the piano, but they came in as the lowest long distance bid. Joe, Jason and Kerry were incredible and I can't be happier. They made a stressful time much easier. I still can't believe how they got all of my stuff on the truck, but they did! They were just as professional and courteous when moving me into my new home - the next day!!! We hired Smooth Moves to help us load a ABF U-Pack Trailer. From the very beginning I could tell that they didn't care much about putting our stuff in the truck so that it doesn't shift in transit. We moved many times before and this was the first time that I saw our stuff being jammed in a truck so carelessly. I was still hoping for the best. When we unloaded at our destination, it was a very sad picture, lots of smashed boxes, the mattresses and other things were very dirty (they did a bad job wrapping them), lots of scratched furniture, and one night stand that was totally smashed (we had to throw it out because there was no way of fixing it). We moved so many times before and never ever had smashed boxes, stained mattresses and broken furniture. I would not recommend Smooth Moves to anyone. read more

I spoke with heather on 2/11 at 10:32am by email and was told that she had a slot for 2 movers on my moving day of 2/16 in the time frame of 11-2 and they will call 1 hour prior to the time when they will be there. Per the email from Heather :"I will need the starting address your ending address and your best contact phone number then I can get you on the schedule." I responded at 10:57 am that it worked perfectly and sent her both addresses and phone number. Come moving day I sat around with all my stuff packed and by 1:30 no phone call. I called them to check and the guy who answered (don't remember his name) tells me he can't find me on schedule. He tells me he will look into it and call me back. He calls me back and tells me the last email they have is when Heather emailed me. I go on to explain I responded with all info and go to tell him times and such and he cuts me off just to keep telling me they never received any email back and was putting the blame on me. Didnt try to offer a fix or anything so I hung up completely flustered and proceeded to contact someone else. Extremely unprofessional and wasted my entire day of moving and having to move all my plans back a day. WA extremely upset with the way I was treated when it was very clearly their mistake. read more
