[sigh] Well, I called a couple local outfits and Dave's Electric answered. He and his associate arrived, looked at it and said they could do it: Service call + some labor fees. They had actually just installed the same, exact ceiling fan for another customer a couple days prior to mine, so they new some of the issues that could arise with this particular model. They had the fan up and running in short order. The total was $110, which is, I think, less than if I had Lowe's install the thing in the place. I highly recommend these guys.

I was told my appointment was his first stop on the scheduled day but he never showed up. I called after he was more than an hour late. The woman that answered the phone said she'd call the electrician and get back to me. Twenty minutes later she called and said "he dropped the ball". Yes, he certainly did. It sure makes you wonder about the legitimacy of all of the 5-star reviews he has (mostly from Yelpers with only a few reviews).

My other estimates have all been below $2,000 (except 1, I left them a review on Yelp also), and lowest one being a bit below $1,500. This one is by far the biggest scam in all of Kansas City. This should qualify for attempted robbery. How is this not criminal? Shameless and disgusting. Hope your business burns to the ground. Response to the below: First, learn to count and type. There are 2 other companies that I left poor reviews for. People should be informed of the truth. I know that is something that is unknown to you and the people who work for you. You actually have the nerve to respond to me and try to justify? Wow. Who raised you? How can you even act surprised from my feedback? Can you focus on the pure number that I was quoted? Your "business" quoted me with $8,500 when the real cost of the job is below $1,500. Do you understand that the kids you sent to my address just tried to scam me for $7,000? Of course, with your permission and teachings! You are not running a business, you know exactly what this is. Do not make assumptions about how many companies I have had provide me with estimates based on a few poor reviews on Yelp for people like yourself. Your mind thinks this is about the price? This is about morals and ethics. Best of luck staying in business. The world needs more people with morals and ethics, try to get some. Call me anytime so I can lecture you about the consequences of your behaviors. Try having some shame. Take accountability for being called out on the truth and realize you cannot hide your true colors. Best of luck to you with karma. Feel extremely grateful that I am not filing formal complaints against your business yet. Do NOT dare justify or act surprised when you know exactly that the kids you sent have 0 morals also and are going nowhere in their lives, similar to their boss. Learn from this, stop these kinds of acts against people immediately. Get some morals and ethics, and don't let me catch you doing this again to anyone. I will file formal complaints and have your "business" shut down if you don't understand what that means. Because you are NOT running a business, and you won't be allowed to continue to operate under such name. Change, and begin treating people fairly. Otherwise, be prepared for the moral and legal consequences. Your choice!

They came out quickly to discuss the work I wanted, provided a timely bid at a great price, then pulled the permit and did the work. Great communication the entire time, very professional, and just great people! Jerome was fantastic from start to finish. Then, less than an hour after the new panel was installed, a huge storm came through and a giant tree tore down the brand new power line and pulled the meter from the house! This was on a Friday. I called Code, explained the situation, and they worked with me over the weekend to figure out a solution. On Monday Code was kind enough to come over and repair/reinstall the meter and box during a very narrow window while the power company was in the area, even as they had other jobs they were working on. And, they only charge me a fraction of what they could have, since every other electrician in the area was already committed to days or weeks of work fixing the storm damage. Of the many contractors I've dealt with over the years, I must say that Code Electric is at the top of my list and I highly encourage everyone to consider them for your next electrical project!
