In the mood for trying something different, I stopped into Jen's. I didn't pay much attention to it being a buffet-style but decided that was okay -- it would give me the opportunity to try some different things. The buffet was fine, with quite a few choices, but most were heavy on the sauces or fried, and the vegetable dishes were sparse - maybe 1 or 2. What I did try was fine, satisfied a craving, but not necessarily something spectacular. I attribute that to the buffet-style food. The things you typically expect in a Chinese buffet were available: sweet/sour chicken and pork, a beef dish, chicken skewers, noodles, rice, two kinds of soup (the sweet sour soup was pretty good, too). Of the things I did try, the coconut shrimp was the winner. It didn't look like much but ended up being one of the better things despite the heavy sauce. The sesame chicken was also good, and the cream-cheese filled wontons were worth a second trip. Overall, Jen's is fine, plenty of food for a reasonable price and with service that is available, but not intrusive when you need a beverage refill.

Dad (who is 87) was with us and we had trekked over to the Proud Cut Saloon as it was not too far from our hotel and was open. The place was packed, and we didn't have a rezzie. The staff managed to find us a table and seated us quickly even still. Our server (Holly) was fantastic! She had great recommendations and was pleasant the entire evening (even though she was juggling a full load of tables). The food was delicious - skirt steak and prime rib were cooked to perfection, and my father enjoyed the senior steak platter that included onion rings as big as his head! Bread pudding for the dessert win. Everything, even the cocktails, came out quickly and without issue. We are so happy we found the Proud Cut Saloon!
