I have been a patient here for about two years and unfortunately my experiences have been very…read morefrustrating. At the front information desk, I have sometimes felt dismissed or spoken to harshly when asking for directions or clarification, especially when I mentioned that I had visited before but needed reminders due to medical issues and medication-related brain fog. During some specialist visits, I felt that my responses were not fully acknowledged when I answered questions in ways that were unexpected. This left me concerned that parts of my medical information may not have been clearly reflected in my records. I have also struggled to get assistance from the Galter Life Center. Despite having a referral from my specialists, I have not been able to schedule an appointment or receive clear guidance through in-person visits, phone calls, or email. Additionally, I have attempted to contact Patient Experience and Advocacy several times but have not received responses to my calls or messages. When the system moved to NorthShoreConnect, I hoped communication would improve, but many of my messages there have also gone unanswered. Because of these experiences, I personally feel that my concerns have not been addressed adequately, and I would encourage others to carefully consider their options when seeking care.

Unprofessional & Intimidating ER Experience with Nursing Supervisor Rita…read more Took my 85-year-old mother to the ER on February 3, 2026, for severe abdominal pain (ileus) and back pain (T11 compression fracture on CT). Medical workup was adequate. Nursing care was disgraceful. Two different staff members told us the vacuum/suction machine could help with both urine and stool under bed rest. When my mother--in extreme pain (8-9/10), urgency, and distress--couldn't use the bedpan, they suddenly said only bedpan allowed and completely ignored her suffering and cardiac history. I questioned the flip-flop. Nursing Supervisor Rita called four security guards on me, demanded I delete the recording or leave. After security left and we were moved, she sarcastically asked a second time if I was going to record her again. This was dismissive, intimidating, and completely unprofessional. Hospitals need to be held accountable when supervisors treat vulnerable elderly patients and their advocates this way. Posting publicly so others know what they're walking into.

And yeah, the building is pretty old, and it's clear the ER has been through some shit...but the service from the night time staff was incredible. Dedicated, committed, working with what they have...these young people saved my ass and treated me very well, despite being berated by abusive drunks and dealing with some pretty crazy stuff. The medical system in this country is too blame for the ills of this hospital, not the staff who did so much with so little. Give them a break

The nurses, at least the ones I dealt with are mean and have no business being in the medical profession. I kept begging for water and everyone EVERYONE kept walking by and completely ignored me. They just sit around on their phones and laugh and talk. It wasn't just me either. Other patients were calling out for help. It's actually really scary that they can hold you against your will and restrain you so hard you're in physical pain. DO NOT EVER COME HERE FOR ANY REASON! I would rather have malaria in a Cambodian prison camp!!!! This place needs to be shut down immediately for good! They also lost my clothes and purse with all my credit cards and ID. Uber to a different hospital if you are close to this hospital. Do not let loved ones or anyone you care about come here and if they are taken here by default (by ambulance) come and get them out IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

The building was confusing to navigate, parking was unclear, and there was a line at reception when I arrived. By the time I was finally able to sit down at the reception desk, I was two minutes late. Despite that, the doctor refused to see me and told me I would have to reschedule. I understand offices need policies, and I respect that appointment schedules matter. But for a first-time patient dealing with an unfamiliar building, unclear parking, and a backed-up reception area, refusing care over two minutes felt unreasonable and dismissive. There was no flexibility, no understanding, and no effort to account for the circumstances. This was a very frustrating and disappointing first impression, and it left me feeling like patient experience was not a priority here.
