This library is awesome! They really have everything a reader would want. There is even a cafe inside where you can pick up some coffee and a snack while you read. I love that this cafe does seasonal drinks too to mix it up. One of my favorite features is on the second floor they have a balcony with rocking chairs that has a view of the mountains in the distance. There is a great kids section with tons of books and tons for them to play. We came once on Thursday morning for story time too. For those working remote they have a phone booth for making private calls on the second floor near elevators. They've even got self checkout and electric car chargers! read more

I love public libraries, but this one is by far my absolute favorite. Cozy, spacious, and always clean (shout out to the hardworking staff that help keep it this way!), this library is amazing. Not only is the space huge and well-kept, the staff is just awesome and knowledgable and SO helpful. I try to visit every local library, because I just really appreciate libraries, but this one is my number one. They have a great selection of books - cookbooks, manga, novels, how-to's, you name it. As well as movies, music and plenty of other great things. They've got a nice cafe and several spots for lounging or hanging out, and computers for studying or browsing, etc. Since it is a library, please be mindful of your surroundings and other people utilizing the area just like you (bring headphones or ask the staff for some) and pick up after yourself, oh and support your local library if you can! One of my absolute favorite library locations! (I literally have 4 library cards for the area) Very bright, clean and inviting. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. This location also has a beautiful cafe with lots of options. They also have an awesome 3D printing station that had me mesmerized for way too long watching a project being built. Makes me almost want to go more often instead of e-reading. read more

Attended a seminar here held in a conference room. It was nice to be back in the library. I've been reading books on their app but I love touching the pages of a real book. Parking was available even though the library was busy. The cafe is a cool larger space now and I wandered around looking at the displays. They have many interesting things displayed. And the 3D machine is still cool. The conference room was large and comfortable. The screen is viewable from all seats. The women's restroom was clean and brightly lit. I liked the new high tech book return. And the childrens' section still holds dear memories for me. We spent so much time in there when my son was young. I will have to come back when I have more time to wander in the stacks. I saw people using the computer room and the smaller conference rooms. How wonderful to have a place for the community to gather. read more

This is my fave arapahoe county library location. Ample parking, ballot drop off box right in front along with a book drop (electronic, chez fancy!) and a cafe? Awww yeah, this is the library of my dreams! I mostly come here to pick up books that I place on hold, they have a very user friendly system and unless the book is all the rage or on the best seller list, your book is typically available within a day or two. Staff is equally amazing and they have a used book sale every now and then (along with a hefty selection of books for sale year round near the cafe). Pro tip: Link up your library card to the Libby app and you can get audio and e books delivered to you! read more

I've been to a lot of libraries and this has to be one of the biggest ones I've been too. It also has a soft, homey feel to it. The interior is decorated more like a house and not a governmental building. The lower floor has meeting rooms, private study rooms, a coffee shop and I believe the children's area. The upper level has computers, quite study tables and a balcony. I'll be coming here more often. read more

Lovely library! One of the bigger libraries in Arapahoe Library District. Fiction and children's area on the first floor and non-fiction on the second. I mostly use the library for books for my little one and myself, also for story time/ playtime. This location has story times on weekends too and yes the spots fill up pretty quick. They have a separate room for story time so the kids concentrate better. The room is pretty with beautifully painted walls. Ms.Amika does a wonderful job. She always has some new songs/rhymes every week which is good learning for both kids and parents. Yes, parents need them too, break into a song right in the middle of a temper tantrum! Helps sometimes, definitely worth a shot! Really appreciate the efforts of the staff who make early learning and reading real fun. Nice play area too with lots of toys. read more

This is my favorite library! It's only 9 minutes from my house. Great location and tucked away from the noise of the city. I come here to study 6 days a week for about 4-6 hours in the afternoon. The upstairs is nice and quiet with plenty of cubicles and group tables to study at. I've never had an issue finding a place to sit. Even though it's a busy library with plenty of foot traffic, I've always been able to concentrate and focus on my studies. In the mornings a few days a week, I bring my son to baby story time. They do an excellent job at telling stories and interacting with the kids. The children's library is wonderful and full of toys, books, and activities. I hope to bring my son to more events and activities. This library is great! I recommend it to anyone needing a place to study or bring their kids. read more

WOW!! What a freaking awesome library--the best I have ever been in!! Was there to see Adrian Miller, author of Soul Food--the surprising story of an American Cuisine (one plate at a time). He did a cooking demonstration, gave us some of the interesting history of his journey in writing the book and we got to sample some of the Soul Food (cornbread, collard greens and Hibiscus drink). There were over 100 people present and it was a very interactive presentation. The Tattered Cover representatives were there so I was able to purchase his book and sign it. He is now planning on authoring a book about African-American Presidential Chefs and am looking forward to when it comes out. Wish this library was closer to where I live. read more

I LOVE this library. You would think that, in this day in age, library's would be closing down and become obsolete, not this one! The first time I came here, I was shocked at how many people were waiting at the doors for them to open at 9am! I had no idea where to go. I found a nice gentlemen who pointed me in the direction of the kids area for Baby Storytime. It's a section of the library that is completely closed off and sound proof, you wouldn't even know they had a kids section here. You have to register online for baby storytime and when you arrive, they are ready to go with your child's name tag. They ring a bell and you all go into another little room that's within the kids area. It starts off with story's and nursery rhymes and ends with some toy play time. It's very easy to register and cancel your spot and it's all free! All the staff I have seen here are all very friendly and helpful. I am so lucky to be apart of this community. read more

I'm a person where nostalgia is my prime emotion...bittersweet yet very romantic in a sense. If that makes any sense because that's how libraries make me feel. I remember perusing through the aisles on my next adventure to beat Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban from the favorites list (hasn't happened), but this library supplies my curiosities. That's childhood me, I now read ebooks mostly now. Fast forward to teenage years/college ones where studying was part of the game of life. I had group hang outs, fantasies, and a place that truly became a solace to me as I grew up. I'm back library, now I'm prefer the white noise a cafe brings, but I've watched this library change and grow so much. I still love it though. read more

If they don't have exactly what you are looking for .... they will get it and deliver it to this library. The staff is always helpful, as much as a Liberian can be. They don't make you feel stupid when you cant find a book in the ever confusing dewey decimal system (DDC for short). IT'S GREAT!!!! Love all of the Arapahoe County Libraries especially this one. Plenty of parking, lots of seating, plenty of computers. Very bright and clean. With their online presence and also smart phone apps, you can reserve, have it brought over to library close to you and have receipt emailed to you. I love to spend time at this library. read more

When I was young I was always very involved with different reading programs, both at school and local libraries. My love of reading has carried on through my life.I'm also trying to instill good reading habits in both my children. The way we go through books, CD's and DVD's a good library is a must ! The Smoky Hill Library (branch of Arapahoe Library district) happens to be my favorite library in the area. It's very well laid out, cozy, comfy and has plenty of places to sit down and read in peace and quiet. There was until recently a coffee shop inside. I don't know if there is plans to add another one or not. Another huge draw for me is their online availability of e-resources. Both ebooks and audiobooks. They have a wonderful selection and with so many new ereaders that are compatible with library books there is no reason not use these ! I am very upset about my friends visit to Smoky Hill Library. I love that Library and told her to go there. But she had an awful visit. All due to an employee she called Elaine a rude small girl who basically was too lazy to help her. She was more interested in her phone than helping her find material upstairs. She said every time she asked her for info it was impossible to get a concrete answer. If this employee could just have shown her where the material wasand some kindness, but instead acted like she was really being bothered. read more

I opened an account here today for my girls and I. My daughter is starting home schooling soon and thought I'd open a library account in our neighborhood. This by far one of the best, cleanest with a huge selections of books, electronics and internet area. It is laid out well, and I especially like that the children's section is closed off so that we can be a little louder and not constantly feel like we're bothering others. This is the best library that I've ever been to. I know that there are larger libraries, and maybe even better libraries, but I've never been to one. The staff is amazingly helpful, kind, and friendly. They have a ton of multimedia content, both online and in the library. At the library, you'll find Blu-Ray, DVDs, music, audio books, etc. Online, you can check-out eBooks, audio books, and music as well. read more

I really really like this library, especially when I need some quiet time to myself to study or read. When you enter the front doors, more often than not, you are greeted by one of the many friendly people who work there. They always give you a bright smile and ask you if you need any help. The layout is neat and bright, with the books and other various media organized in a way that is easy to navigate. I usually head upstairs to where there are a lot of chairs and desks to sit and work on things. I like that the tables have desk lamps and plugs everywhere for laptops. The chairs are also nice and cozy for when you want to do some reading alone. There is a nice balcony area too for warm days. Everyone is generally very respectful and it's quiet, with the occasional conversation drifting from across the room. Not enough to fully distract a person from what they're focusing on though. There is a little cafe on the first floor that is awesome. read more

I attended a conference here and it was my first time ever being in this library, it was really nice. The decor was updated and felt very sophisticated and pretty. The conference room was large and had plenty of room for everyone, we only had 20 people but I think it could have held way more comfortably. The room was really hot at a couple of points in the day, apparently they cycle the a/c off and on and when it is off you can tell for sure. The conference rooms are free to use, but book them way in advance, they fill up quickly. read more

This is a very nice library with lots of room for meetings, study groups or at-home workers who want to get out of the house for a while. There are many computers upstairs for people to use to do their own research, including a few in an area specially set aside for teenagers. The children's library is gigantic and separate from the rest of the stacks. In the new computer era, there are not a lot of actual book shelves, so the selection can be limited if you need something right away. They are connected to a library network though and books can be requested through this service and arrive in a matter of days. All of the librarians are very friendly and helpful. The library also has a lot of resources for events going on (book clubs, classes) and a large music and video section with many current titles. read more

Good, clean location that has a nice and pretty helpful staff in you need help. I think the selection of books is a decent one for a smaller library. If you need a really crazy good selection probably skip this one and go more downtown, BUT they do offer a system to get it sent from a larger location if you have the extra time. They have computers, copy machine and other tools. I would say my only beef at all is now that everyone can't part with their phone for a measly hour that some people are really disrespectful and blabbing loudly on their phones, and I just wish the staff could help people that are being respectful of others studying by reminding tards that we are in a library. read more

This library is so wonderful. My son, niece and nephews love to come to storytime. Mr. Stefan and Mrs. Paige are fantastic story tellers and they absolutely captivate the children's attention. I tell my friends that have kids that this storytime is like one you'd see on television. It's just so so good. This is the best library everrrr. The first thing I noticed was the layout. From outside, you can figure out what part of the library you will be visiting and park near your entrance. The children's section has an entire separate section, so toddlers can fell free to loud-talk all they want about Barney and Mickey and everyone else that is so exciting in the "I can read" section. The teens section is upstairs ,so all the attitude is at high altitude. My 12 year old thought being as far away from her brother in the childrens section was the best thing this library had to offer. The coffee patio is open but outside of the main thoroughfare, so you can hold meetings, grab a bite, or jump on your laptop and not be bothered. The setup here is brilliant. Conference rooms, everything you are looking for, on the shelf, and great movie and audio section as well. Plus, self-check out that you'd have to be on drugs not to understand. Outside of the Boston Public Library, I think this is the best library I've visited in a long time(wihout the bums and pigeons of course). read more

My tendency is to only write positive reviews. But what happened at the Smoky Hill library yesterday has me really bothered. I went in to print several pictures from my email. I wasn't sure how to do it so a librarian showed me. After I paid $4+ dollars, i realized she had only showed me how to print the email, not the actual pictures. I showed this to another librarian and she directed me to a recycle bin, no offer to help or to refund the money even though I explained it was the librarian who showed me how to do this. I asked her to show me how to print the actual pictures which she willingly did. I needed to download, click on print, change the setting so the whole picture printed, change the setting to color and hit print. She actually did the first picture. I went through and printed about $8 worth of pictures. Once again I prepaid and then pulled them off the printer--black and white, some prints missing, others half on one page half in another. I showed them to the person who had helped me. At first she kind of shrugged. Then I asked how the situation could be rectified. Eventually she agreed to a refund but of only $6.50 because that's how many pages there were. Originally she offered four. I get five or six bucks is not a lot of money to most. But it's the principal of the thing that bothers me. I was given wrong instructions the first time and it seems the machine was just not working the second time. I should have been refunded the full amount. I'm sure it's a great library. Hopefully my situation is the exception but the norm. But I guess I do need to find another place to print out my photos. read more

Nice enough place, but noisy. Before getting in to the study room I was in the main area on the second floor. People walking around talking on their cell phones and gabbing like they were in a restaurant or something. While others are sitting at the little desks along the wall trying to read and concentrate. When did it become commonplace to be loud in a library? This was my first time using a study room and unfortunately I drew room three. Room was nice, but right out side of the room is a table and chairs where apparently high school kids come to shoot the breeze. Several staff walked right by them and not a word was said to maybe keep it down, just smiles like I hope you all are having fun. I have been coming to this Library for 10 years and it just keeps improving. The most recent update is their cafe.....and in the best place, very well lit, plenty of tables, they have food, coffee drinks, drinks for the kids, the atmosphere is beyond great. The employees are knowledge, helpful, kind. Their computer lab is great, big monitors, newer keyboards, a VERY clean place, the restrooms are always clean & this is so appreciated. I stopped in here last Tuesday night for a Home Owners Association meeting. I was surprised at how nice this library was. I couldn't believe how busy it was either. There were TONS of kids, parents, and adults in general here busy doing their own thing. It was pretty impressive. I didn't meet or talk to any staff, but I did notice a lady at the front desk helping people with a mile-wide smile. I'm eager to go back and spend more time here in the future. read more
