I've been to this location in the past. There is plenty of parking and during the winter they have an ice skate rink. It also looks like they have activities for kids outside library like jenga. It's been a few months since I've been here. And needed to rent a few first time reader books. They seem to have a wide selection of children books based on level of readiness. Also I'm hoping we can partake story time activity one of these weekday mornings. This library even has an upstairs where there are magazines, cook books and the like. I like that they have private rooms for meetings or study groups and seats with a little more privacy. They have a bulletin board on all upcoming events. And online/ their website they have more resources. I want sure if I could rent magazines but there was plenty staff around. When it's time to check out there's a kiosk that prints out the reciept for you. We will for sure be back to participate in story time read more

Support your local library! And if you haven't been to the Parker Library yet, it's a good place to know and go. Very kid friendly including a large children's book section and play area. In the summer, the fountains out front provide great play time for your littles. My only negative: the staff could be a little more friendly. read more

Love this library and the new location is really nice. It's busy though, and often can be noisy, which can be a downfall. I'm also bummed because I never can get any books and from here without waiting on a hold list for at least two months. I'm really hoping they will get more copies in stock of each book and that the noise may be able to be reduced. Also the hours on the weekends, please stay open later, 4pm closing is so early! read more

This is a great place that has a large ton car kids can work on, splash pad, drawing area, recording studio, and outdoor skating area with a pavilion. Of course, there are tons of book also. There was live music outside when I was here earlier and a food truck. It is right by downtown also. read more

Our family is a huge fan of the library. In addition to books, movies and ebooks this library has so much more. They have study rooms you can reserve. They also offer study areas with whiteboards and different desks with charging stations. Believe it or not you can also checkout sewing machines. They also offer lots of children's programs and have a play space. Encouraging kids to enjoy themselves. It can get loud during activities but you typically can't hear it upstairs if you're looking for a quiet place to study. I like that it is bright and open inviting you to stay for a while. Personally I enjoy reading in front of the fireplace upstairs - feels quiet and cozy. My middle schooler has spent several evenings and weekends here working a big history project. He is currently shooting a documentary using their recording studio. read more

WOW!!! I am in love with my new library. As I received my card, I was told that I was allowed up to 200 items on the card. My jaw hit the floor. I was just wondering how I could possibly keep track of, or have the space for 200 books, etc. Of course, there are many online options and downloadable items as well. This building is huge. Two stories, and so much parking here. Best of all, OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK! Yay! They have many different locations associated with this library district. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I signed up for my card in their computer system, and then presented my photo ID. I love the check out process, as you place all items on the designated are of the table, and the computer recognizes all of your items. Quick and easy. read more

I haven't been to a library since I was in high school which is almost 10 years, now that I have my son I definitely want him in this kind of environment. The play area looks tidy, huge selection of books and story time! Theres a time for different age groups. Baby story time is 9:30 am monday to friday! I was told the max amount of books you can borrow is 200!! There are computers and study rooms to reserve. If they dont have the book you want you can easily put it on hold from the computer and once it's available you'll recieve an email and itll be waiting for you when you enter at the "on hold" section. They have DVDs, audiobooks and even a manga section. I'll be coming here frequently with my son read more

The library itself is very nice. The books I was initially interested in were not available but I could have reasonably put hold on them if I wanted. The big problem, however, was while trying to browse the non-fiction stacks there were 4 teenagers in the study room allowed to laugh and scream with a librarian not more than 30 feet away who clearly couldn't care less. I don't want to knock them too bad based on a single visit but was pretty disappointing. read more

The Parker Library is fantastic! The staff there really works hard to help you if you need it. They have a person on staff to help with any techie type questions like "how do you load the share book ap for your nook?" The very helpful woman in charge spent the better part of an hour with my daughter and I explaining the process. There are always activities, events, classes and reading groups for kids along with special concerts by locally grown artists throughout the summer and they run a program with the Parker Cultural Society for kids called Kitz Kulture. Recently during the remodel they vamped up what used to be a pile of used books in a little room to the side to a much more attractive "used book store" where you can buy paperbacks for $1 and hardbacks for $2. Many of these are best sellers so it's a great value. In the lower level theres a four sided fireplace with chairs and tables scattered for you to read or work on your laptop. Free wifi of course. Notice: The parking lot has changed to a one way loop which is a huge improvement but it surprises you if you haven't been in awhile. *Parker Trivia: This building was originally a bowling alley. read more

This is a beautiful library. I've only been here twice, for baby storytime and it was lovely. All of the staff were friendly and there's a nice play area at the back for the kids. The play area isn't closed off from the rest of the library though so I'm not so sure how i'd feel about that if I was trying to study in there of if there's a separate study section. Story time was good, 9.30am and the doors do get closed on that room so not to disturb the whole library. The room is long and kind of narrow, so you can get a lot of people in there but if it was over full it would get quite cramped. There's no limit on storytime numbers so I can imagine it could get quite busy. Other storytimes I have been to have a "yucky bucket" for everything the kids put in their mouths, to be cleaned; but they didn't have that here and my son tries to eat everything so I was a little concerned that if all the toys don't get cleaned regularly, then it's just another way for germs to spread. read more

I have been going to the Parker library for 13 years. The worst thing about it is that it is too popular for the space available. The library fee vote failed when times were good (they should not have tied it to the cultural center), and then there was no way to pass it once the economy went south. This is the most widely used library in Douglas County, even though it does not get the most funding. As such, there are a lot a kids, a lot teens, a lot of senior citizens (a lot of people, period), and you will be amazed how full the parking lot can be on a Tuesday afternoon. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you reserve something online, they can have it waiting for pickup in a couple days. This is true even if they have to get it from another branch. Somehow, the concept of "library decorum" seems to have fallen by the wayside. There seems to be much less quiet reading and research than Starbucks style socializing and cell phone usage these days. read more

This library is nice inside and outside. They have a great selection to choose from, and there is always someone available to help with questions. While there are numerous places to study, including quiet rooms where you can close the door, it's not always the best place to read or study out in the open. Part of this is because of the kiddos playing downstairs. But the activities for kids are a plus if you're there for that purpose. If you need to study, plan on using one of the study rooms. read more

HUGE fan of my local library. The staff is amazing and the variety of items to check out is wonderful. The atmoshere is welcoming and it's so nice to see so many people in our community take advantage of a great local resource. I love to come in, sit in one of the big comfy chairs and read all the magazines. My husband has put the kabosh on buying any more cookbooks or knitting books, so I just go to the library and check them out. As e-reader owner, I like the ability to check out e-books and look forward to have a greater variety to choose from. The change to the parking lot is WONDERFUL. I used to hate to drive through there and had a few near misses trying to get in or out of a space. My one peeve is the people who idle just outside the front door to drop books in the book return and jack up the traffic for everyone else -- but that certainly isn't the fault of the library. read more

Have you seen the newly-constructed building at the intersection of East Mainstreet and Pine? It's truly amazing! Two-stories artfully designed for your favorite library browsing and activities with space for everyone. We were there on September 24, 2016 for the community grand opening and bookworm (to move the last 21 books; one book to represent each year at the old Crossroads Dr. location). The new building has exceptional expanses to browse books, audio books, movies or to just sit and chill. On the first floor, children can enjoy story time and activities in a large, dedicated glassed-off room as well as some fun play spaces nearby. There's an event hall on the second floor with a small outside terrace to enjoy the view. I think we counted a half-dozen study rooms along with a supply of HP PC laptops and MacBooks you can check out near the entrance for use in the building. Nice conference rooms plus a spiffy multimedia recording studio complete with equipment and green screen. The architecture is cheerful and bright and in the parking lot area ...are you ready for this? ...there's a drive-through book drop. We're living the dream. I'm so thankful for all the people that made this new library possible and excited for the pages, words and wonders it will bring to all of us. read more

Unfortunately it's difficult to stay here long due to it being the loudest library I've ever visited in my lifetime, thereby making it near impossible to concentrate, quietly read, or do any other standard "Library activity". I'll be blunt: This is a private Children's Daycare Center masquerading as a Public Library. There exists an abundance of screaming children quickly running around with little to no parental supervision and even the parents seem willing to shout across the room at their kids, laugh loudly, play games in the halls, leave toys scattered across the floors, along with a long list of other extraordinarily selfish, rude behaviors that make for a terrible Library experience for anyone who happens to be there to quietly read a book or politely study on laptops that now require accompanying earbuds to drown out the concert-like noise levels caused by that ever-present "Family-Friendly" crowd that's endemic in this region when compared to other U.S. cities. This is yet another example in the long, long, long list of ways in which Colorado seems to regionally differ from everywhere else I've lived (D.C., Northern Virginia, San Diego, Pensacola, Chicago) insofar as there seems to exist this regional unspoken truth of "The local culture exists for Parents, Kids, or Grandparents but if you're 18-35, Single, LGBT, PoC, Alternative, Non-Religious, or anything that differs from the local carbon copy Stepford mold, you're uninvited from this culture". Diversity of peoples of differing ages, the decision to remain single and/or not have kids, and other factors that create a mosaic of peoples should be taken into account when creating public places like libraries or when city planners create the infrastructure plans - it's a 25 minute drive with 4(!) school zones on the way here but merely 5 miles away (big yikes!) - so local city planning and cultural hallmarks need to be more aligned with the reality of the existence of diverse peoples and be more welcoming to all peoples rather than just one segment of society. read more

Since I wrote my 5-star review for the library nearly 8 years ago, it has only improved dramatically. So, consider this an 8-star review. Parker got a new library this past October and this review if for the new location. First, there's plenty of parking (this was a huge problem and the older library). And, there's a drive-thru drop off. If that was the only improvement, I'd be thrilled. The site is gorgeous and filled with sun (the older library was a former bowling alley had very little natural light). It's 2 floors. All of the kids' facilities are on the first floor, leaving floor 2 sublimely quiet and peaceful. There are TONS of seating nooks and couches. You are encouraged to hang out here. There's a room with a fireplace and all of the magazines. There is a kiosk that allows you to borrow a Mac or PC while you're in the building. There are many meeting spaces. There's a place to film videos and a kids play area. The librarians are unbelievably helpful and service-oriented. Other than a vending machine, there is no food sold on site. I could not have dreamed up a more fabulous library - well done! read more

I go here to study from time to time, but is one of the worst library experiences I've ever had. It's great if you're there for play time. They have knitting, cards, movies, but if you want a small desk with peace and quiet, forget it. It's more like a giant rec center than a library. Today someone next to me was on a cell phone over 30 minutes. Last time I was here there was a group of 6 people playing cards! Just come here for play time. :-) read more

Don't you know Parker is like, the ultimate place to be? This place is 4 stars because they usually carry every book or dvd I'm interested in and if not, they find a way to deliver. Sweet. Fine. Amazing. But, minus a star for not having THE BOOKS I am really want to catch up on. Is carrying J. D. Salinger an issue? Honestly. Watch out for soccer moms. Pimped out dads. Grandmas. Grandpas. Children upon endless children. And never come here around 1ish or after 4ish...I swear the soccer mom's spike their crystal lite water - one almost ran me over in her damn minivan. read more

Wow! Just wow! I must admit I end up traveling to many libraries for meetings for my volunteer work, so meeting space is always interesting, depending on when the library was built. I had not been to this location in Douglas county until Saturday. This is an amazing new building, with great meeting space! We held a meeting in what I found out was the larger of their meeting spaces, and it really is state of the art. Screen that comes down, av connections, garage door to make it partially an outdoor meeting, sink, expand-ability (into the next room), privacy screens. It really just has it all. We utilized the projector, screen, podium, privacy screens. Would definitely use this space again, and the staff that I did encounter were friendly and helfpful! read more

I really like this library. Everyone who works here is very nice and helpful. Most of the time I just reserve online and run in, check out and I'm out in a flash. I love this feature. I really, really, really like the reorg of the parking lot making it flow one way. It was complete chaos before but now it really does flow much better. read more

Love Douglas County Libraries. The Parker Library has a somewhat newly-remodeled children's section. The kids like the touch-screen computers with interactive games, the puzzles, funny mirrors, and other fun things on the walls. I love to reserve anything I need online and pick it up. That makes life easier. I pay a lot less for movies than I used to. read more

No library etiquette. None, zero, zilch, nada. I have tried to study at this library several times and it is rather difficult due to the lack of the library staff enforcing quiet, in fact, THEY don't use a library voice when assisting the patrons in the study/book sections. There was a person on their cell phone for over 20 minutes, speaking at a volume as if he were outside; staff don't even blink an eye at that. Now, keep in mind that there is a lower level where the children's section is, I expect that it will be louder there, but there is often kids running around upstairs making a lot of noise. I asked the staff on more than one occasion about the lack of noise discipline upstairs and I get the same response; there are study rooms you can reserve. Yes, there are study rooms... a grand total of 6 rooms and they are usually booked up; dropping in and using a study room is not likely to happen. Adding to this whole experience, are the meeting rooms upstairs. It would seem companies like to use them as interview rooms for job applicants, I don't have a huge issue with this other than their lack of library decorum. I got to hear all about how the interviewer's name was April, and she was born on March 31st and people thought it was odd that she was born in March and was called April..... seriously? This was all at normal conversation volumes. The library is nice and new, but the atmosphere is more like a shopping mall bookstore with a day care and cell phone store inside it. I'm not sure if library etiquette has changed that much over the past few years or if it is just this location. Either way, it should not be called a library, a community center would be a more accurate description. read more

Parker has definitely outgrown this library, and the town is working on it. They are currently in the process of trying to get a new one approved by taxpayers to be built, until then we have to try and not kill someone while maneuvering this parking lot. Being such a small library, Parker doesn't have the selection you'd like, true, but they are always willing to get whatever it is you need. The librarians are nice, and haven't thrown a book at me for losing my library card at least half a dozen times in the span of 4 years. For such a crowded space, this place certainly is relatively quiet, surprisingly enough... despite the throngs of children. Where are all the parents I wonder? read more

I wish I had come in here sooner when I initially moved to Parker. This is a gem inside Parker. They have a large section of books and it is very clean. Another plus is that there is a ton of seating. But what makes it extra snotty (just the way Parker is) is that it is not just regular seats there are nice couches, sofas and lounge chairs. There are plenty of computers to use. They also have a teen section with comic books and tween books. They have a room with books for sale in which I bought one for 50 cents. Good deal. Only bad thing is that they don't have very many travel books international but have alot of Colorado and good Ole USA. Another bad thing about this place is that Parking SUCKS. SO I always park in the near by business and walk. Good place to pass sometime. read more

A fun place to visit and bring kids. They have a splash pad out front when the weather is warm. There is a small play area inside and a room for kids to build with Lego type blocks. They have quite a large selection of books and the librarians are always helpful and friendly. You can also use the computers and my daughter likes to play games while we are there. read more

Don't bother reserving a "study room" on the first floor. The employees let a few kids, who's father was sleeping about 5 feet away, throw building magnets at each other for about 20 minutes. Those magnets bounced off the door of my study room for about 10 minutes when one of the kids decided to come into my room. I'm trying to ignore magnets bouncing off glass, and the employee that walks by tells the kids, "we don't throw those" as she walks past. The dad glanced up and used 1 finger to beckon the kid out of my reserved room, then wet back to sleep. No employees did anything to let people know that a library is a quiet area. There is a kids area, so it's not going to be silent. And that's a good thing. But there is no reason for what happened today. read more

It's nice...quiet. The one thing I am looking for is a quiet place to study without distractions. I truly wish there were more private desks. I am frequently at a table in the open, with others who need a place to sit. I feel like its a great place to relax and leisure read, but comes up short for the student who seriously needs to spread out a book, notebook, calculator, and wants no distraction. I would love to see those desks with the sidewalls here. I thought at one time they had them, but i dont see them anymore? The parking lot is full each time I come here. It's really quite small for a library. I wait on the side for a car to leave before I can park, or park in the shopping center just north of the library. My special place to learn! I am that kind of person who needs a special place to feel good and at ease. I need this special place mainly when I need to learn something. When I discovered the Parker Library, I felt that I found my perfect special place where I can learn better than anywhere. The location it has, the working time, the commodities and the variety of information provided, made me fall in love with this library. The Parker Library has a perfect location for those who want to learn in it. It is located on the Main Street, in the center of the Parker. It is located in a quiet area, away from the bustle of the city. Also, it has a large parking lot that is a necessity today. For those who live and learn in Parker, I think that the library is located exactly where it should be. For me, it matters a lot the time it takes me to get where I want, and I do not need more than five minutes to get to this library. In a world where we always do not have time, I think this criterion is quite important. Beside the perfect location, the working time of the library is still more perfect. It works seven days a week. Whether I want to go to the library on Monday, Thursday or even on Sunday, the doors are open. Even if during the weekend it is opened only until by five o'clock, you anyway have the opportunity to go there until that hour. And more, it is one of the few libraries in the whole city that operates on the weekends. If during the week you are busy, you are free during the weekend to go to learn there or just to go to recreate a little bit of everyday problems. Even if the location and working time are perfect, the commodities of this library are the ones that make you really fall in love with it. The library has a modern design to everyone's liking. It has two floors. Half of the first floor is intended for children. The second floor, on the other hand, is quiet and cozy for everyone else. Even if you are a person who needs an extreme quiet, the library has study rooms, which you can reserve in advance. The library has a multitude of ''corners'' where you can learn. Wherever you look, are the comfortable couches that call you into their world. The large windows that it has make the room very bright and with a very special aura. The last one, but equally important is the variety of information provided by the Parker Library which helps you become a much more informed person. There you can find books with a multitude of domains: literature, art, history, law, psychology, biology, even cooking books and home design books. Anyone can find something interesting for his soul. One amazing thing about it is that you can bring your books back without even getting into the library, because the library has a drive-through book drop. This is so wonderful, all the more that not every library has such a good thing. After considering all these criteria, if you also need, like me, a special place to learn, the Parker Library it the perfect one. There you will spend your time so beautiful and comfortable. You can try it and I'm convinced that you will be pleasantly surprised. My experiences there have made me fall in love with this library.
