Koelbel Library is a most magnificent midtown venture. The entrance stairs are easy to climb there are guard rails, be careful during the heat of the summer, being iron they might be hot. Walk-ability around the parking lot grounds is lovely, fresh cut grass, trees, seating and some shaded parking. The Parking lot is Huge, plenty of room for all meetings and clients! The meeting is immediately gracious at the front desk. To the right side of entrance there is a cafe with Croissant, chia, coffees to your taste and other delights with sitting and "Wifi" Sitting is all around in comfy chairs, plenty of books to read AND, Take a stroll down the beautify stair or elevator. There are desks a plenty, some covered, some large some small. AND a larger meeting room upstairs. Meeting private rooms from 1/2 hour to 3 hours, must schedule in advance!! Personally, I have spent many of hours in this library with my "Service Dog" by my side. Bathrooms up and down stairs, PLUS SEPARATE AREA FOR THE KIDDOS!! I have never had a run in with children as with libraries, this is a well thought out multiplistic public library!! read more

Lovely library! I really enjoyed the space here. Full of plants and light, and of course, books! Their children's section kept my granddaughter occupied for 2 HOURS! I also enjoy the Cafe and used books sale. The prices are very reasonable at the Cafe and for the used books. I am always finding a treasure. read more

Koelbel Library recently reopened for visiting and so my daughter and I checked it out! I had reserved books for her online and it's super easy to schedule a park and pickup appointment, but we decided to venture inside instead. Upon walking inside, they check you in and take your phone number for contact tracing purposes. After that, we headed towards the children's section and had such a fun time browsing their super large selection. All the staff was very helpful in answering my questions. I became a library member amid quarantine online but hadn't picked up my physical card yet. Someone helped me with that and said I can now check out up to 100(!) books. Amazing! If you haven't been to your local library lately, you're really missing out. I'm looking forward to when it's even more open and we can attend activities and play. For now, I'm thankful for their wide array of entertainment for kids and adults alike! read more

This library is too LOUD and it's mostly from the librarians. When I asked them to lower their voices I was told this is "not a shushing library" from a LIBRARIAN. How about consideration? There are people there studying and their voices are so loud you can hear it to the back wall. Needs new management or a lesson for the librarians in consideration of others in public places. The patrons, young and old, are more noise considerate than the staff. read more

I work from home and needed a change of scenery, so I decided to try out this library. Now, it's been a while since I've been to a library, I and don't have any outstanding or positive experiences to speak of...but I was genuinely surprised at how warm and welcoming it felt as soon as I walked in. While I needed to get to work, I still took time to walk around and get acquainted. On the top floor is the cafe to your right as you walk in. I didn't grab anything but it all looked quite good and not like some afterthought. Both tables and high-tops to sit at, plenty of light. Across the stacks are comfortable chairs facing beautiful, nearly floor to ceiling windows. Downstairs, you'll find computers, conference rooms, study rooms and both tables and quiet nooks for reading, studying or working. This is where I spent my afternoon and got a ton of work done. No noise issues either, even when a large meeting let out. Everyone was quiet and respectful. The most pleasant surprise was how modern this library is compared to others I've used. Every seating area is not far from a plug for your laptop and there's an abundance of USB plugs available as well. Even the wifi connection was steady. Maybe this is all standard these days, but I wasn't expecting to have such an easy time setting up shop. I'm yet to explore and take out books, since I forgot my wallet and didn't have any identification to get a card. However, there seems to be a good variety without being overwhelming. Very efficient, which I appreciate. I'll be back soon! read more

This is our absolute favorite library location. I have a 3 year old daughter and visit weekly. Their story times are amazing but make sure to book well in advance! They're that good! There are toys and coloring sheets for the kiddos. The books are always beautifully organized and easy to find. The librarian Sherri is wonderful and always takes time to talk to my daughter and show us all the new features in the library. The entire staff in general has always gone above and beyond for my family. I wish I knew all their names! My only complaint isn't with the library itself. It's the parents who come here and expect the staff to babysit/entertain their children while they "work" or just sit on their phones. Your children want to spend time WITH YOU. It is not the library staff or other patrons job to watch your child. Please engage your child in activity before you get settled. Setting them loose is just asking for drama/tantrum. I hope parents will be more mindful of this. read more

Wish we had a more pleasant experience during our first visit. We went to the family story time which was apparently for all ages. My 19 month was very excited to be there. Just like most 1.5 year olds, mine has trouble sitting during activities. I was visibly trying to keep her contained and yet one of the workers had to come up to me and ask me if I could please keep her seated near me. As if I wasn't trying. If this was an issue, they should really consider breaking up story time into age groups. We will not be back. Lone Tree Library is much more children friendly and to add, much cleaner. I absolutely love my local library! Great place for me to get some work and reading done, especially in the comfy chairs overlooking Holly Street upstairs. I was really surprised they have a cafe on-site, and thankful for it one day when I didn't bring anything with me to drink. The children's section is wonderful - there is a small entryway for the kids, and lots of toys to pay with. I really love the different areas they've set up, including the felt story board. This is the best library i've been to by far. It is spacious, friendly and inviting. It has a nice cafe and a used bookstore. The is a wonderful DVD/CD collection and the easiest, breeziest hold system ever. I wish I could live here. With two floors I never leave with out a ton of books and magazines. The librarians are always helpful and friendly. Once, after returning from a vacation I found that I had $7.00 in fines. I apologized for keeping the book away so long and explained that I was away, and the librarian erased the fines!! There are also like 30 Mac computers down stairs and a great selection of magazines ( I catch up on my People magazine reading here). Today would be a great day to spend at the library, but for now I'll just wrap my self in blankets and not move. read more

This is my local library and I do look forward to visiting for my weekly reading books. On my last visit, I was browsing on the upper level. There were librarians gathering upfront having social time. Their volume level was LOUD. Very loud. I could hear their discussion and I was in the far back of the room. It was extremely annoying. I mentioned this to the librarian who was working at the tech desk. She just finished having a loud discussion about her hair color with the librarian sitting at the YA desk. Yes, they were talking from their stations, not face to face. I mentioned how the librarians up front were very loud and I would like to talk to management. She informed me that libraries are "communal" now. Wll, they have always been communal, however, that doesn't mean it is a place to have a loud social gathering to the annoyence of the patrons. I looked around...everyone on the floor were working on their computers or browsing for books. I don't know any patron who goes in to "be communal" with the librarians at the front desk. The library is a haven for people who want to find a little peace in our hectic world. It is not a place where we go to hear the librarians socialize. The librarians were taking "communal" to the extreme. After my discussion, a patron in the large print area was working on her computer. She overheard me and mentioned she had thought they were loud as well. The supervisor did come to talk with me and afterwards the social party did break upm. I don't have issue with the librarians social gathering at the front desk. I do have an issue when their voice level is inconsiderate to other people. I'm not that old but I remember the days when the librarians asked the patrons to keep their voices down. When the patrons have to ask the librarians to keep their voices down, something is wrong. In closing, this is not the first time I have gone to Koelbel and thought the librarians were too loud. Hopefully, management will take notice. Thank you. read more

After moving to the area from a very rural town in Missouri, I visited Arapahoe Libraries for quite a few things. I knew I could depend on libraries for books, audiobooks, computer/internet access, and a few other things, but I continue to be surprised and pleased with how well-equipped these libraries are. I recently went to the Koelbel branch to get help with my resume and cover letter, and Alicia was a superb help. She gave me advice from a new perspective and had a phenomenal and comprehensive understanding of my needs in this area. I could not be more pleased with the help I've received. read more

I come here to study often because it is so close to my house. Most of the librarians are nice (some are like those you see in the show, Parks and Recreation, which is funny and sad at the same time). They have a great interlibrary loan system, where they can get books from other libraries sent to this one if you need it...pretty standard for most libraries now, which is pretty convenient and helpful. It is also nice that there is a cafe in case you need a jolt or snack. However, there are no designated quiet spaces...at all! People talk ALL the time and not with their "library" voices - just regular volume - even some of the librarians. You could reserve a study room online, but they only have 3 study rooms (which is pretty ridiculous). The study room walls are super thin too that you can people talking in the next study room. They have meeting rooms that they would rather let go empty than let patrons study in there. If it wasn't so close, I'd go to university libraries, which do have dedicated quiet areas. read more

I needed to join a library that is close to my place and this one ended up being the first one under my Google search. I took a chance going with the closest library but I ended up getting extremely lucky with it. Not only are the librarians super sweet, you can get even more sweetness from the cafe located inside. The account opening process was quick and painless as is returning/checking out books. I love how "self serve" the entire process is. Not only does the library have two floors, it comes fully decked with various reading nooks and work spaces. It's fun grabbing a random book and getting lost in it among the shelves when visiting. Check this place out and I guarantee you will find a beautiful transport to the world of imagination and creativity. read more

We just came to Koelbel for the first time. It was specifically for the koelbel con 2017. We had a fantastic time. The library is staffed with kind and knowledgeable staff and the volunteers are very personable and friendly. The event was really cool! Lots of stations to spend time at making crafts or playing little games. They had a cosplay contest and my little guy took home a prize (I was shocked). The event was just the right size for a kid that is interested in cosplay but not quite old enough to actually go to comic con. Very age appropriate. A wonderful event. Well done! Another great library in the Arapahoe County System! They even have a coffee bar/cafe which is pretty cool. The library is very large with two whole floors of resources, and a dedicated children's area as well. Unlike some of the other libraries, there is plenty of capacity here especially if you need computer access. There is also plenty of staff available if you have any questions. Oh, great lighting too! It makes a big difference. I will certainly be back here in the near future. read more

This is the best library ever. It is laid out very nicely with the children's section upstairs and off to the side and the adult section/ research books downstairs. The quiet area. This library is quite large. I am never unable to locate a table to sit down at. There is a used book for sale section with a small cafe. The holds section is easy to navigate by name and is self help, but there is always a helpful staff member around. They have a ton of computers which can get busy during peak hours like when the kids get out of school. They also have magazines, newspapers, cd's and a huge dvd section with even new releases sometimes. It is very clean organized. I love this place. Have been a member for over 10 years. Their website is easy to navigate also which helps you check if your books are ready. read more

Huge!!! I enjoy this library simply because it is so spacious and has very distinct areas. It also has a bookstore and a small coffee shop in the back of the bookstore which is a nice added touch. I like to go down to the lower level to find a corner to sit in. That is also where the public computers are located. I do also like to sit in the Science Fiction section on the main level as I browse through the SciFi/Fantasy and Graphic Novel books. The Children's area is really cute. I don't go in there very often since I don't have small children but I like to recall my childhood from time to time and just walking in that area helps get me there. I've witnessed a couple of incidents involving older patrons exuding a unjustified "privileged" mentality and showing their true colors but, I don't allow ignorance to dampen my day. I will say this library is quieter than Castlewood which I like. read more

I think the Koelbel library is great! It's part of the arapahoe library district - which has a nice network of a lot of libraries, an easy to use website, and even an app! The app makes requesting books or movies really easy and I like how you can see how many holds there are for each item requested. This library is currently under construction (which I don't actually know why - since it was really nice to start) and the signage says it'll be complete in spring 2015. The construction makes it a bit more cramped and confusing, but it's still nice and I'm sure it'll be even nicer when construction is complete! read more

This is easily one of the best libraries I've ever been to. The selection is good, the staff makes themselves available (and are all very friendly,) the building is beautiful, and it has had plenty of open seating every time I've gone. Matilda from the library's Tech Center has been working with me to create some models with the library's 3D printer. She continues to be extremely patient and helpful, and she goes above and beyond to accommodate me. What an incredible service for the public library to offer! read more

Great library with fun toys for toddler age children. The only reason I knocked it to four starts is because it's SO CROWDED. Even when they are now requiring a sign up for library story time, it gets jam packed. And there are always at least a few parents that think it's an amazing idea to bring their ridiculously sick kids in - I know this happens a lot with children, but for goodness sakes, please don't knowingly get other kids and parents sick. This is the best library I've been to. There is massive selections of all books, the DVD collection is large and I can always find something good to watch. There is an abundance of workspace for students and the librarians are always helpful. The people that frequent here are very nice and the entire requesting of a book or movie system for Arapaho Public Libraries is easy and fast. Why can't Denver Public Libraries be this nice?? I live in Denver and find myself driving south into Arapahoe County a lot for better options. There are some good Denver libraries, let's not put us down. But, the DVD selections are better and the discs are clean and not scratched up. Denver always seems to be inferior to south suburban areas like Centennial, Greenwood Village, etc. Nicer schools, libraries, grocery stores, less potholes. Let's see, what else? What gives with the City & County of Denver? And, how did this happen? read more
