I am writing to share a very concerning experience my son and his grandfather had during Story Time…read moreyesterday. From the moment they arrived, they felt they were treated differently than the other families in attendance. My son was not allowed to have any of the toys that other children were using. Later, when stamps were handed out to the children, every child received one except for my son. The librarian looked him up and down and intentionally moved on without giving him a stamp. My father-in-law also tried asking a few questions about Story Time, but instead of receiving help, he said the librarian raised her voice at both him and my young son. Throughout the program, she appeared to engage warmly with the other children while largely ignoring my son. This was incredibly hurtful for our family. Story Time should be a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and treated with kindness. No child should leave feeling excluded. I hope you will look into this matter and ensure that all families are treated with respect and fairness. Thank you for taking the time to hear our concerns, and I would appreciate hearing what steps will be taken to address this situation.

Walk-ability around the parking lot grounds is lovely, fresh cut grass, trees, seating and some shaded parking. The Parking lot is Huge, plenty of room for all meetings and clients! The meeting is immediately gracious at the front desk. To the right side of entrance there is a cafe with Croissant, chia, coffees to your taste and other delights with sitting and "Wifi" Sitting is all around in comfy chairs, plenty of books to read AND, Take a stroll down the beautify stair or elevator. There are desks a plenty, some covered, some large some small. AND a larger meeting room upstairs. Meeting private rooms from 1/2 hour to 3 hours, must schedule in advance!! Personally, I have spent many of hours in this library with my "Service Dog" by my side. Bathrooms up and down stairs, PLUS SEPARATE AREA FOR THE KIDDOS!! I have never had a run in with children as with libraries, this is a well thought out multiplistic public library!!

This particular branch butts up to a beautiful park with water features, gardens and more. In fact, the second floor of this library provides a serene view of Civic Green Park, alongside cozy, well-cushioned armchairs tucked in bright corners and ergonomically friendly office chairs on wheels, facing broad desks for laptop use, backpacks and paper writing. The second hand bookstore upstairs often offers sales and it's a fun escape to browse the selection on hand. There are private conference rooms for studying, along with strong WiFi, as well as an enticing children's section with colorful play stations. My favorite time of year to visit is without a doubt the holiday season. The staff goes all out with themed Christmas trees stocked full of whimsy, wonder and inspiration. Parking can get tight, depending on calendar events, but there is overflow parking next door. The bathrooms are always clean and well stocked, on both the first and second floor. Strongly recommend checking this place out if you're in the mood for magic.

It has a refreshed and updated feel on the inside. There was a group of senior citizens playing games in the main area. And there are quite a few private education and meeting rooms. I am so glad we live so close to this library!…read more I come here every other week or two to replenish my reading needs. Staff is wonderful and so pleasant. Very spacious library with lot of private study rooms that you can book. They also have a hall that you can book for private events. I really like that they have new desktops with printers for anyone that needs printing done (cheaper than ups). I've spent hours here and Always look forward to coming to the library! On the top floor is the kids area, dvds, and an outdoor patio space. The kids play area is mail and delivery themed. It is a smaller play area especially compared to the castle rock kids area. It is located next to alot of other stores so you can visit and get errands done easily. There is a King Soopers grocery store close, post office right across the street.

A sudden ThunderStorm they are ominous 5. Rain will come in a flash and afterwards are the rainbows if we are lucky, a "Sun Dog!" 6. Slight Snow 1 to 2 inches 7. We are getting a snowstorm meaning: 4 to 9 inches 8. The occasional SNOW BLIZZARD, except higher elevations - chains on your car 9. Wear 3-4 layers of clothing: Dress to Peel is the saying, chilly mornings, warm throughout the day and dang cold at night - have a fireplace. 10. The Deadly lightning Storms. They strike your gardens, bird bath will be shattered, double check if you are hiking - get to safety and not under a tree, these Colorado lightning storms will split a tree and YOU! There are so many resources here at the Denver Library, I wish they had better ways of getting the…read moreinformation out. You can print here, both black & white and color. There's a limit, I can't recall off the top of my head, but it was a fair amount per day. You can get the Kanopy app and watch movies with your valid library card. They have reduced book sales throughout the year, I believe is 3 times. I volunteered at the last one and it was really fun checking people out with their books. I can't believe how many books some people got! The prices ranged from $1 to $5, so it's a great sale. Sometimes they show movies. I was recently told you can check out museum passes -- whattttt!?!? They also have a wood burner machine thing, no idea where it is or what all the random things are that can be checked out here. I need to ask more questions next time I'm at this library!!!

I have always found the staff knowledgeable, helpful, and very willing to seek out answers, no matter what my issue might be. There are enormous resources available here, far beyond the physical books and media on the shelves. These include community rooms and study rooms, a constant series of seminars and events, the ideaLAB maker space, the children's library, passes for many local cultural institutions, and the Community Technology Center (computer lab, classes, and workshops). There's a Healthy Snack program for children, extensive help to navigate social services for those in need, a number of book clubs, a book store, and a large collection of eBooks and audio books. There's a streaming resource for movies, music, and TV shows, a huge digital magazine collection, and digital access to The Denver Post and The New York Times. Research resources include BizBoost (research services to formulate data for a business plan), Digital Navigators (help with acquiring electronics and using technology), Nonprofit assistance, the Patent & Trademark Resource Center, and student consulting. There is a huge selection of research databases available online. The Western History collection is massive and comprehensive. There are extensive genealogy resources and a large collection of historic maps and geographic resources. The library also has an outstanding art collection. Some of the most important pieces are on loan to the Denver Art Museum, but the seventh floor hallways and the Vida Ellison Gallery on the seventh floor are used to display pieces from the collection between periodic, formal art exhibits. The fifth floor of the building is another highlight. There's a large lobby which is used for mostly historical exhibits. The Western History collection is on this floor. The Gates Reading Room sits within Symbol of the West, a sculpture of massive wooden beams designed by Michael Graves. The area usually features exhibits of photographs and artifacts from the Western History collection and is a spectacular study space. The library started in a wing of the original Denver High School building at 19th and Stout Streets. It notably included the first children's library in the U.S. The facility moved to the iconic Carnegie building (now the McNichols Civic Center Building) in Civic Center Park in 1910 and remained there until the new Burnham Hoyt building at 14th and Broadway was completed in 1956. Noted architect Michael Graves designed the current building which opened in 1995. It incorporates the 1956 structure quite seamlessly. I greatly admire the new building. I think it is one of Graves' best projects. Internally, it is very functional while the exterior is stunning.
