Stopped in for the first time recently by a suggestion from a local. I got the 3 rib meal. After tip, it came to $23. I got 3 ribs, a side and a drink. Note I also added a slice of chocolate cake. W/O the cake... your looking at about $15 before tip. The food was very good and service was great. Definitely will be back soon. Probably get more ribs though. I especially loved the run on the ribs and the cake. So good. read more

Dee and Stan are absolute delights, and their food is excellent as well. We really liked the ribs. Very meaty. They have three sauces: original, bourbon, and spicy. The spicy is not too spicy and brings in the right amount of heat. Just be careful, because Dee is so nice that I think she might give you her house if you asked for it. read more

Really really great ribs. Perfectly cooked how I like them, which is not overcooked to fall off the bone but rather meaty, tender, and moist where they do peel away from the bone in nice chunks. I really couldn't believe how much meat was on these ribs. Almost like a double rib per rib. The flavor was excellent. I also really liked the mac salad. Do you like platters of meat??? If yes, stop here! We were passing through town and during any long road trip it's best to travel on a full stomach. Luckily we found Stans! I had the sample meat platter and it was wonderful. My wife had the sample platter which comes with a slider and it was very good! My daughter had the mini steak nachos which I thought were the best nachos I ever had! Brisket, pork and chicken were so tender and moist, as my wife says, "chef's kiss". Stan also makes his own sauces which you can buy separately. I recommend the spicy sauce, which is not too spicy. An added bonus was the soup!!!! Beer cheese soup was bomb!! I'm addition to the great food you will experience wonderful service and a family atmosphere. Driving home on a full belly, new friends and if we come back, we have our go to smokehouse. This lunch hit the spot. We had a Nacho Mini, which was far from miniature! I don't think we could've eaten a regular order. It had a lot of crunchy tortilla chips, pieces of tender brisket, beans, sauce, sour cream, and cheese, as well as the optional pickles, onions, and banana peppers. We also had a good sampling of three smoked meats--brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. They were all tender and flavorful. ThereThree different flavors of bbq sauces to put on them. I grew up in Wisner, and my family's still there, but I never even noticed the restaurant before I saw it mentioned on a website of great, unknown places to eat. Construction made getting to the joint a bit challenging, so much so that my mom suggested another spot, but I was hungry for BBQ, and the reviews can't be ignored. Immediately upon entering the restaurant, the owner greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Gotta love these family-owned businesses! I had the sliders, one brisket and one pulled pork, both tender and delicious, much larger than I'd figured. Most sliders I've had in the past are the size of a White Castle burger. These were on a standard hamburger bun, with plenty of meat. My mom selected the baby back ribs, and she wasn't disappointed. Kudos to any place that escapes my mother's complaints about flavor, portion size, or wait time. She wasn't quite as thrilled with the cheesy potatoes. I'm still giving the place five stars, because the main entree was delicious, portion size was great, and prices were reasonable. Service was awesome. I had heard lots of good stuff from my wife and son about this place and was able to sample some ribs they took home. But the real experience was going to Smokin Stan's BBQ in Norfolk. The special that day was Burnt Ends. I added some strawberry-rhubarb crisp and this would have been enough though I got to try out my families food too. The Burnt Ends had a strong and flavorful seasoning, really good! The rhubarb crisp was way better than my own. My family had a pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, and ribs. We also got sides of beans and macaroni salad. Both unique and flavorful and really good. The sauces were Regular and Spicy types and I may not really be an expert on sauces but these both hit the spot. The staff at Stan's, including the owners Stan and his wife were super nice and we received our food right away after ordering. Thanks guys! read more

This is very good bbq. Brisket was really tender and tasty. Chicken breast was really well made, juicy and flavorful.

The interior was very clean, more so than the exterior would suggest. Staff was helpful and friendly. Barbeque was delicious however portions on the sandwiches was slim. Maybe because i ordered the Sampler it was dialed back, but the brisket was delicious nonetheless. Buns were delicious. The sides were good as well. Smokin Stan's is smokin' good! We are always on the hunt for great bbq and Smokin Stan's did not disappoint. The ribs were tender and had a great smoke (not oven baked) to them, and the sauce was just an added bonus but definitely not the main attracting. The brisket, oh my, that brisket was beautifully prepared (meat lover here!) and very lean with no sign of fat anywhere. Sorry, but the only reason I could not give a 5 star rating is my opinion of the two sides I ordered. While the baked beans were great, the potato salad was a huge disappointment. My 2 cents: try a southern recipe, Stan. Hire a potato slicer (no frozen potatoes), add some mustard and pickle relish and voila, you'll have a hit. We're from California and don't frequent the Norfolk area but I highly recommend anyone going through that town to stop in for a taste. The home-style hospitality will be the icing on the cake or crisp (lol)! For 1st timers, the young lady taking our order was so kind and patient and explained every detail. The people that work there are so nice! The woman that works here just made us feel very welcome. My coworker made a comment about wishing he saw they had soup before he had ordered and paid, the guy just brought him a cup with his meal. It was really good and had a nice kick of heat to it. I had the brisket sandwich and coleslaw, both were awesome. My coworker had the sampler with the sliders and ribs, he enjoyed his meal and actually raved about the beans. This was a last minute stop while I was heading out to Kearny Nebraska. I thought getting there before the lunch crowd I would get my hands on those burnt ends, but I guess they only make them on the weekends. But anyway this place was awesome! I ordered the three meat sampler pulled pork, beef brisket and ribs. All meats were seasoned perfect. All meats were tender and juicy. They make their own baked beans and they also throw in some of the beef brisket chunks. It's like finding the price on the cracker jack box! This is a must to stop here when near by! read more
