After a poor experience with Smokey Bones in Cheektowaga (now closed), I decided to give Smokey Bones and another try in Erie. And I absolutely loved everything. The food, the service, the atmosphere. Everything was perfect. We were seated and our server was very friendly and attentive. We started with the BBQ MAG NACHO, which caught my attention on the menu. I wish I had ordered the larger portion after just taking one nacho. It blew me away. That's definitely something I'd recommend everyone for appetizers. I also got the DOUBLE STACK BURGER and paid extra to have my fries loaded. Again, it was delicious. The burger came out with a knife stabbed into it, some extra burger veggies on the side, and the loaded fries with a generous amount of cheese sauce. Everything about the burger and loaded fries was amazing, the only small complaint I have is that both of our burgers were slightly overcooked. We had both requested medium but got it almost well done. But because of how perfect everything else was, it made me ignore that. Oh, and if you've never been to Smokey Bones before, they have salt and pepper as well as many varieties of BBQ sauce on the table. It was amazing with the burger. Here's the deal. This wasn't bad but it wasn't incredible good. It was just OK. There were 5 of us, we were staying at a hotel nearby and walked across the parking lot. They sat us right away, it wasn't crowded. Our server seemed a bit grumpy. She took our orders. We all ordered different menu items. A steak which was just OK. 2 of us ordered wings. I got the smoked wings and a friend got the regular traditional. The smoked wings were OK. I got them prepared their house way. Not bad. Another friend got the 1/4 chicken, she said it was OK too. It was all just OK. Ambiance is all open. Big room lots of seating. They have drink specials to pull you in. Those are decent. So my husband and I are on our way to Pittsburgh and stopped in Erie for lunch. We were immediately seated by Tori, who turned out to be someone who wore many hats, as she was our waitress, too. She was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable, so I'm glad we ate here, if only just for her. My husband ordered a rack of ribs, which looked delicious, and I got a bourbon chicken breast with fries and coleslaw. My chicken was cooked well and tasted good, but was on the smaller side for me. Fortunately, with the sides it ended up being a filling meal. My husband liked his ribs, too. So I haven't been to a Smokey Bones in a while, but it's better than most chains in my opinion. It's decorated like a chain restaurant, however. There are silly signs up and the bar had plenty of TVs, though they weren't blaring, thankfully. Smoke flavor was subtle but not bad. I like the smoke flavoring, but i know most like it light. Wish there would have been like a house sauce, but i used the kc sauce. I'm not sure I've had kc bbq sauce with pineapple in it before. The wife got a bbq chicken sandwich and thought it was ok. Son got steak, and it was grisly. So disappointed. My family and I came to Erie to visit some family and celebrate my birthday. I love Mexican food and decided to try this place out for my birthday dinner. We have an 11 and 8 year old and waited over 45 minutes to get our food. Anyone with kids knows they get antsy after 20 minutes, and even I was wondering what was taking so long after my 10th " it should be out soon" . All we ordered was water, street tacos, rice and beans mind you. The table behind us, that showed up AFTER us, was serviced before we were and they were clearly prioritizing to-go orders over their customers dinning in. We finally just asked for our food to go and were hoping the taste of the tacos would be worth the long wait and horrible service we had experience, but that was not the case. Wasted $50. I have lunch or dinner at Eat n Park in Erie, PA 4-5 times a month. The food is always prepared just right and the salad bar is always fresh and delicious with lots of options. We were somewhat disappointed with the bbq we got from another local place so we wanted to take another shot. I got the brisket platter with Mac and cheese and baked beans, it was fire. All of it. My partner got the pick two with pulled pork and smoked sausage. Again both were on point. The place is big with huge high ceilings that make it seem really quiet. We were there on a Wednesday night and the place was probably half full but sounded quieter than that. Our server was a very nice lady. The place is well lighted and seating comfortable for a chain restaurant. The staff is nice too. Lisa craved steak and I tucked onto the St Louis ribs. The ribs came with a sweet, tangy sauce but there are bottles of other types if desired. The beans were crazy sweet and bacony. I'm not a fan of the slaw but it is crisp with a mild sauce. The steak, prepared to perfection, went well with the firm hot broccoli and buttery baked potato. Definitely on our list of Good Eats. read more

My five star rating is based on comparisons to restaurants I feel would be in this class. This restaurant is serving some of the best wings I've ever eaten anywhere in my life, the service was fantastic, the restaurant was clean and everyone at my table truly enjoyed what they had ribs, wings, sides and a salad all exceeded our expectations. My husband and I visited Smokey Bones in Erie yesterday, 08/16/25. We sat at the bar to catch the Pittsburgh Pirates game. We were greeted by Tori our server at the bar right away. She brought us menus and the bars specials. She was very friendly and nice. We were there a couple of weeks earlier and sat at the bar that time as well. We were not given the bar special menu that time. We were a little surprised but pleased that we were given the menu on this visit. Tori informed us that we can ask for it when ever we sit at the bar. Tori took our order with a smile. She right away brought our drinks, small plates, napkins a silverware. Someone else brought out our pretzel app. She checked on us within a few moments to make sure everything was ok and that our meals would be out shortly. She brought out our meals nice and hot. We were very please with our food and the overall experience. The best part of our visit was Tori. She is a wonderful server and a great asset to Smokey Bones Erie. The manager was rude and insisted that they were just a different "recipe" The waitress kept apologizing and overall she is what kept me from just walking out with my family. Absolutely horrible that the manager, after not really listening to us then went back to the service area and was loudly talking about us to her staff, and half the restaurant because she was talking so loud!!! She made the magnanimous gesture of giving us half off the inedible ribs. She did offer to get us replacement ribs, lol, or something else. Ordered food for my mom on the 4th of July, Ribs had very little meat, beans in the chili and broccoli was not cooked completely and corn bread pieces were very small. Called to see what could be done to rectify the issue since I'd spent a good amount of money . Absolutely nothing since order was placed Uber. I normally don't complain about restaurants because I know it's a really hard business these days. However, Smokey Bones in Erie was hands down the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I feel not saying something would mean one of my friends or family may have to deal with this and waste their money. Both my parents ordered ribs, they came out and were so tough you literally could not cut through them and could barely even rip them apart with your hands. The waitress after a few minutes came to check on us, where my dad did what he always does if something is wrong will laugh it off and tell them it's no big deal. The waitress was wonderful by the way nothing wrong with her. She went to talk to a manager regardless of us saying it was fine and no big deal and not wanting to make a big fuss. Tha manager came over and immediately started making excuses saying it was "a different recipe and that they are suppose to be tough and hard to break apart or cut apart". I said that was fine, but our concern was just it's hard for them to even get them apart with a lot of force. She talked over me the entire time I was trying to say that continuing to make endless excuses. I had to restart what I was saying seven times before she actually stopped and listened. Then, she shrugged like it wasn't a big deal and walked away, which is fine we aren't the type of people to send food back it's fine. We would just know not order that in the future if we came back. The part that was really upsetting was she walked into the back kitchen and started loudly talking about my family and me. Name calling and the whole nine yards. We continued to try to ignore it even when she continued to talk loudly about us each time a new employee entered the kitchen. After about five minutes of being talked about and ridiculed about twenty feet away from where we were sitting I lost my appetite as did everyone else at our table. I decided the best thing for me was to go outside as she continued to talk about me and describe me as the girl in the "yellow shirt". Apparently, the manager ended up giving 50% off the inedible ribs my parents had on the final bill. Mind you, we were never rude. We never sent our food back. We never yelled or got upset until the manager started talking about us when we all lost our appetite. All I said was what our concern was with no expectation for anything in return besides maybe just a yes we agree with you that food does not look right or up to our standards. That's it.
