#Poutine

I can't think of anything more Canadian than eating bunch of poutine and writing a review about it. Poutine is poutine, if you haven't tried it you should. This franchise gets my rating for innovating on something that doesn't need innovation but they found a way to make you realize poutine varieties was actually meant to be. Now I feel like I have to go back to order a different kind even if they are really all the same and don't taste any different. I like the pulled pork poutine outside of the traditional because it's the only one that seems to have a real difference in taste. Go on enjoy a big fat bowl and then pass out because trust me there's no way you are not to get a food coma afterwards. potatoes are always worth it for me anyway!

Well, my 15 yr old and husband liked it. I'm not quite sure how to explain this meal - it confused me. Ok - I tried it. Will probably not have it again. Place was clean. Hard to get street parking.

Regular poutine - meal size $8

I haven't tried Smoke's poutinerie apart from a food truck in downtown Toronto but can only assume their quality assurance is the same across all their locations. These were disappointing. I ended up getting the regular/traditional meal size poutine because I felt you have to get the regular poutine right. Consider me a purist/traditionalist? Breakdown: Fries weren't that crisp and the entire dish (each component) wasn't warm, it was more lukewarm. Good amount of cheesecurds but they were still cold-ish. They were sqeeky good! Gravy was decent, probably could have added a tad more. Overall, just average/subpar poutine. $8 is just too pricey for that. The special ones were $2 more. Interesting to note they have local varieties, special to each location? The Oshawa ones actually sounded decent!

Barf

Finally tried them out because online reviews were great... maybe drunk people? Unappetizing to look at and the flavour was worse. It literally looked and tasted like someone barfed into a box, closed it up, and handed it to me. Too much goop drowning soggy fries with rubber cheese bullets. I swear they took a mozzarella Cheesestring and cut it up onto the fries. Thankfully I didn't eat much of it and tossed it... it took all my life force not to throw up. Took nearly a day to get rid of the queasiness. Can't imagine if I had eaten more. Hard pass.

I've been to smokes a few times now and have tried a few different poutines. They are all pretty good. I wish the gravy was thicker though.

It's A Hit Or Miss Honestly. I've Gone In Before & Gotten Some Good Poutine But Recently The Poutine Hasn't Been That Good.

I used to be a regular but in the last few months I've gotten a cold poutine and now a poutine with almost no cheese. I will not be back

Whisky John's Bar & Grill - Paper we unraveled after a few bites into our cheesecake. (It was squished into the actual cake.) Big let down!

This review is of takeout from Whisky John's through Skip the Dishes…read more I felt like a nibbles kind of dinner and after perusing skip the dishes, we kept coming back to Whisky Johns and finally decided to order. We ended up ordering the party platter which includes chicken fingers, chicken wings, jalapeno poppers, spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, veggies and garlic bread. We also ordered a slice of their peanut butter fudge brownie cheesecake for dessert. First of all, never have I seen wings THAT BIG. They're GIGANTIC!!!! And they were mighty tasty too! Mozzarella sticks were still stringy even after the trip from the restaurant. Jalapeno poppers were a nice surprise, not too spicy (but with enough kick!), and instead of spring rolls, there was some kind of pizza roll that was delicious! The garlic bread "was garbage" according to my husband, but you can't have high expectations for toasted bread shoved into a takeout container and eaten 30 minutes later. So, more for me :) It was nicely garlicky and did the job, but I think they could make a substitution for takeout orders to improve this particular item. The dessert was TO DIE FOR, by the time I thought to take a picture, it was halfway gone. Definitely make sure you order one of the Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie Cheesecake. YUM. We'll definitely be back to try some other items; they had a wide menu that could accommodate a lot of people.

Not impressed after two bites into my cheesecake to find crumpled up paper. The lobster chuck…read moreburger was so very bland and just...visually was not what I was expecting. It was a giant cube of "lobster" on top of a very plain burger. The only good thing about this meal was their fries.
