So happy to find a great cigar place in our new neighborhood! My husband and I showed up late on a Friday night and there were still a lot of people in there hanging out. I love the layout of the place..a lot of little "nooks" with chairs and couches to sit in. We me Ian when we came in. Two different things about this place versus other lounges we have been to, the owner accompanies you into humidor, and they have to handle cigars. Then, as most, it is BYOB to drink, but this place did not any ice, so bring your own on that as well. But, we told Ian what type of cigars we liked, and he recomended a few kinds for us. They have a large humidor with a great selection!! After smoking our two that we had purchased, we were very happy with his options for us. Incredibly disrespectful and rude. Was taken to cigar room to select a cigar. White male with sleeve tattoos never mentioned the sign posted in the dark that he walked us passed. It read not to touch any of the cigars. He told me people put these cigars in their mouths and I should not touch them. I had already picked one up at this point. Apparently he doesn't know you have to remove the plastic wrap before you can smoke the cigar. I told him he was rude and should inform people first before walking them into the room to choose a cigar. If my friend wasn't with me he probably would have thrown a tantrum and not sold us the cigars. I'll never go back. read more

This place is incredible. If you are not truly a connoisseur, you are unlikely to recognize 90% of the selection. However, don't let that scare you away at all. The couple that owns it (along with the other incredible staff members) literally hand pick your cigars with you in what I would describe as a treasure chest of a humidor. The prices are fantastic compared to anywhere else - the quality of the cigars is overwhelming. There is a bad review lower down that truly makes no sense. The level of education around every single cigar is insane. I've left very pleased and happy every single time I've come. Ian is awesome, his wife is too. On certain nights they have gourmet coffee's, Mexican hot chocolates or other adult pairings. This place is literally cigar/adult heaven. The lounge itself is a paradise. I went from a swing in occasionally person to almost a daily visitor. They also stock liquid death water which has been a blessing for me. They are one of two Smoker's Abbey locations and they offer a wide range of cigars and pipe tobacco that are a bit more rare, artisan or unique to the market here in Austin. They also sell drinks, torches, lighters, accessories and humidors. They also offer lockers for returning customers that get to enjoy being the first to purchase some new releases and they get new cigars monthly. Friendly cool folks who operate a wonderful little cigar emporium. Abbey sells boutique cigars that you may not be acquainted with but your cigar concierge will steer you in the right direction. Their lounge is small but comfortable and it a great place to chill with a cigar and maybe enjoy a game or just hang. As others have mentioned Red Horn brewery is a few doors down and you can grab a brew and enjoy it at Abbey. My only nit is their exhaust system should be upgraded. On the day I visited there were only four of us smoking and the air was pretty thick with smoke. Regardless, I will return for a cigar and a brew or two. read more

I love this place. Not only is their selection amazing, but the owners are amazingly knowledgeable about their products. They carry a lot of stuff I didn't recognize my first time in, but if you tell them what you like in your cigars or pipe tobacco, they can find you something they like. Their lounge is very comfortable as well. Lots of space, some small Semi-private areas if you want to bring in a small group, a couple of TVs if there's something you want to watch, and good space to work if you need to. Beautiful new location. Same off brand cigars and poor service. I frequent many different cigar shops around town and even spent my fair share of time at their old location (more to do with the proximity to a solid local brewery than the shop itself). I have to give them this, the new spot is pretty swanky. Large humidor, many sitting areas, and even a couple of tvs. Good place to hang out but their are way better options if you want to watch a game. The trouble starts when you enter the humidor. They sell some reputable brands but the vast majority of the humidor are off-brand cigars for premium prices. Mind you I'm not rushing to judgement because I'm uneducated on the matter. I'm a fairly experienced cigar smoker and appreciate a good stick regardless of who rolled it. I've purchased different cigars from them more than 30+ times and never bought the same one twice. So I have definitely done enough research to say most are just plain bad. The quality of the tobacco is on par with gas station cigars. The condition of them is no better. Either overly dry or way to wet based on where they live in the humidor. On my last visit, and likely final, the one they suggested took the cake. I've never had a cigar burn so unevenly in my entire life. Half way through the session it was unsmokable. The filler has somehow burned way faster than the wrapper causing several burn spots to form all over the wrapper. Completely unacceptable with it being a "recommended" cigar and nearly $20. Really great selection and the owner is extremely helpful in helping pick out a cigar. They also have cigar pairings with Red Horn's beer just a few doors down. I highly recommend getting a crowler from Red Horn and then relaxing at Smoker's Abbey. The only reason this is 4/5 and not 5/5 is that it seems the air circulation and filtration is a bit lacking. With 5+ people smoking cigars the air was quite smokey and my eyes were really feeling it. Overall this is a nice place to enjoy a quality boutique cigar. Nice lounge and what appears to be a nice selection of small-batch cigars, into which I would love to take a deep dive and explore and learn which suit my pallet. HOWEVER, I will never return. You are not allowed to touch the cigars and you must be monitored by an employee while selecting a cigar. Not sure if the owner fears theft or potential degradation of the cigar you may touch (both risks of doing business). Once you decide on a cigar you must tell the monitor your selection, and they will get it for you. Cigars are about the senses. And while most cigars these days are celo wrapped, without being able to hold the cigar, look at it close up, and gently feel the firmness and fill, it's difficult to know if the cigar you are getting is one you may enjoy. You can never give a cigar at this shop a pre-purchase smell of the wrapper or the foot. (I have often opened the celo wrapper a bit in a shop to get a wiff.) Not the experience I'm used to in my 30 years of cigar smoking. I can get a much better experience at other shops or even with an online store that will likely have better prices and more courteous customer service. read more
