The sauce was good but the meat without was dry with little flavor. The brisket reminded me of a more of a roast beef than brisket. The turkey more of a deli cut that was put over smoke. The steamed veggies needed seasoning. The grilled veggies had plenty of seasoning and was the best thing I ate. I found myself adding sauce to the meats. Sorry KC not impressed with this BBQ. They were busy but it took 30 minutes to get my food.

Their smashburger is elite, especially for a bbq joint, the sides are all top knotch (the streetcorn is my favorite), their tacos might be the best value on the whole menu with the amount of meat you get. The showstopper is the brisket. Perfect every time. Throw it on a burger and you've got a dangerous combination! I love taking people there for lunch, it's only a few blocks from the office and it's always fast from order to table. If you like bbq, tacos, burgers or are just craving some kickass mac n cheese - hit up Js for sure.

I have been wanting to try this place for a couple months now and I was really disappointed, the chopped brisket was so full of a liquid probably water that it was extremely mushy. The quantity was fine, but who likes mushy, tasteless, chopped brisket. This reminded me of overwatered unseasoned crockpot chopped brisket. Wife and I both ate about half our sandwiches then decided to trash them.

I guess this is a new business or family new. I stumbled across it on a Foodie group and it looked…read moreso good that I decided to take the 20 minute drive up to the Flint Hills just so I could try it out. I am telling you it is well worth it! Other then it being a little loud in the back room all the food is made from scratch and the salad dressings are house made as well. I hear the prime rib is amazing as well which is available on Friday's. My favorite part was probably the homemade salad dressing, the salad is fresh which is nice for a change. Another thing is they do not skimp on the portion size. The potatos under the huge chicken fried steak is so good! You cannot go wrong with the burnt ends drowned in the barbeque sauce either. Any other questions?

The atmosphere at this establishment was great. Not too loud, and the seating was nice and open…read more Since I am a huge fan of chicken fried steak, I opted to give it a shot. The presentation was excellent, as the fried steak was served on top of mashed potatoes. For my side, I selected cheesy potatoes. The cheesy potatoes weren't very impressive, just hash browns and cheese. The chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly. The gravy was average. Didn't have that country style gravy taste, which unfortunately couldn't compliment the perfectly cooked chicken fried steak. An individual in my party noticed a clear substance on the lip of my water glass. We wiped the substance off of the glass and noticed it was pink and sparkly. Our reasonable guess was this was lip stick or lip gloss. Upon further review, a second party also noticed this on this glass. It was a slight appetite killer, and not a good first impression. Our waiter was great, but was unable to answer a few of our questions regarding the menu. She stated she was new, which is completely fine. This may be a good opportunity for them to review the menu, and learn what beers are on tap/drinks are offered. Lastly, our order took quite a bit longer than what was expected. We were the second party in the establishment, so a 25-30 minute wait seemed a bit excessive. Overall, I recommend 3 out of 5 stars. Since we drove 30 minutes to eat, the food was good, but not good enough to drive out again.
