First time customer and could not have asked for a better experience. I had my chimney cleaned and a new chimney cap installed. Blake Crocker was a pleasure to work with and made sure I was informed of what he was doing and what to expect. I would highly recommend them! read more

Had my fireplace inspected and swept today and while it wasn't the news I wanted to hear, I'm glad I chose Smoke Alert. Very nice, very professional and I would definitely use them in the future. read more

Absolute best! Won't go back to anyone else ever again. Lance was very knowledgeable thorough and educational. He communicated clearly when he was going to show up and prepped our fireplace in advance of cleaning. Inspected all of our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors even tested the batteries in each. Explained everything as he went along and gave me some great advice. I ask a lot of questions and he had answers that made sense to all of them! Hands-down would hire again! read more

Had to have two fireplaces installed, we saw the Smoke Alert reviews, and the fact that it's a firefighter-run business tipped the scales. From the very first call, communication was exemplary. Blake showed up and patiently explained all our options and answered our extensive questions. One of the most impressive things was how cleanly they worked. They didn't leave a mess overnight because they knew we had mischievous cats that would go exploring the site, so they made a point to secure and clean the work area, which was especially appreciated. I've already referred them to a friend who set up a consultation. Call Blake! read more

The appointment was easy to schedule. The technician arrived promptly and completely explained how he was going to inspect and clean the chimney and the gas logs. He was very through and showed me pictures of the inside of the chimney both before and after. He cleaned the gas logs and made sure they were working properly. Next he cleaned the dryer vents and made sure that everything was clean and safe. He also checked my fire extinguishers and did a whole house fire safe check. I was very pleased with the service and wholeheartedly recommend them. read more

Very professional. Great job. Provided photos and documentation of services performed.

Have used these folks a few times now for the dreaded "dryer vent cleaning" - you never know you need this done until you see what they pull out of your dryer vent!!! They've always been prompt, courteous and they send you a great report after-the-fact on how to ensure your home is fire-safe. We've recently moved and were happy to have them come out to clear the new place's vent (which we didn't know was a roof vent). I've heard of some less than ideal companies that do this work, rest assured, smoke alert is not one of them. They also offer a great link/discount for fire extinguishers or other items you might need based on the observations from the fire safety report. The good thing is - they are NOT pushy about selling you anything either - just straightforward and real. Much appreciated for sure! read more

Smoke Alert was highly responsive to my online inquiry and cane out the next day. Technician was fast and extremely knowledgeable. Offered additional services which I accepted but wasnt pushy about them which I appreciated. Great to have a former fireman take care of my dryer vent than some Joe that watched a YouTube video. Highly recommend this compaby read more

Justin was great!! Came to Harrisburg and was VERY punctual. Cleaned the chimney, went on roof and checked stack. Cleaned dryer vents. Checked all carbon dioxide and smoke detectors. This company run by firemen is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! If 10 stars were available I'd give them 12!!! Highly recommend. Forget looking anywhere else. Calm smoke alert. read more

First time customer this week and could not have asked for a better experience. The time between my inquiry and the work being completed was all of 72 hours and the price to replace my outdated dryer vent came in at a very fair price. Chandler was right on time, very thorough in the work and communication through the 2-hour project. read more

I called Smoke Alert as I knew my dryer vent was overdue for a cleaning. Chandler cleaned it inside and out and attached a smaller connection inside. Also suggested a better outside vent cover and was able to install right away. During safety check, realized smoke alarm was out of date and was able to replace with new unit. Very happy I used Smoke Alert. read more

I called Smoke Alert after reading reviews from several people in our community. I needed to have our dryer vent cleaned and also read that they would change smoke detector batteries. The technician was on time, called us to tell us he would be a little earlier than expected. He was professional and courteous. Cleaned dryer vent from both inside and out and gave an update on condition of vent and dryer hose. He replaced batteries in all smoke detectors and tested them. He also asked if I had any fire extinguishers in our home. Being that I just disposed of an old one and haven't gotten around to getting a new one, I was happy to be able to purchase another from Smoke Alert. Very happy with the service I received, will definitely use again and recommend to friends and neighbors! read more

Great service! they were referred to me by a friend. Im new to NC from FL so I needed to learn about my fireplace and have dryer vent cleaned. Chandler, serviceman, was punctual, knowledgeable, tidy, he communicated everything clearly what he was doing, etc. Soooo glad he came! My dryer vent looked like it hadn't been cleaned out in forever! He also cleaned my fireplace, taught me how to use it. He installed 5 smoke alarms (I have high ceilings). Very happy with their service, will definitely call them yearly for annual service! read more

What an excellent resource! They came, cleaned my dryer vent and went over very important fire safety items. We looked at smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. We installed some fire extinguishers and talked about having a fire safety plan. These are all very important and the items in life we sometimes for granted. Having a home that burned down in my childhood I've always thought this is an important item to go over with your family. Prices are reasonable. read more

Our dryer was taking longer than usual so I knew that it was time for a vent cleanup. Called and made appointment. Technician called when he was on his way. He arrived on time and was so nice. Blake came out today to help us with a dryer vent cleaning. He was fast professional and got us up and running in no time. We were originally scheduled to have our cleaning in the new year but they had a slot open early and contacted us to see if we could move up which we greatly appreciated. Blake contacted us 45 minutes prior to arrival. Blake also went through all of the opportunities we have in our home to increase fire prevention and fire safety. read more

Great thorough safety check for the whole home. Thought they were going to check out just the fireplace but got a whole home rundown for fire safety. Gave numerous recommendations that I wouldn't have thought of and am much more confident that we're prepared for the worst. Highly recommend this team! read more

Blake was great! He arrived when was supposed to, he was very knowledgeable regarding our gas fireplace and what was needed to fix it and have it in working order. read more

After many months of our dryer taking multiple cycles to completely dry our clothes, we contacted Smoke Alert. Blake came out and had to completely rebuild our vent and exhaust system. That was a year ago and it's been working beautifully ever since. This week, Blake and another fireman/employee came out for the annual servicing. They thoroughly cleaned out all parts of our dryer's venting. And one of the great things about Smoke Alert is that I didn't have to remember to schedule the service call. They contacted me! On top of the fantastic service they provide, they also take the time to review your fire safety equipment, making sure you have everything you need in an emergency. I guess that's one of the benefits of working with firemen. I highly recommend this professional company. You won't be sorry. read more

Smoke Alert came out and cleaned our dryer vent. We have been in the house a year and we would have to run the dry 2X to get things dried. After the cleaning the volume of air doubled and dried the items on the first try on a medium heat. After the cleaning he inspected our home for possible fire hazards and gave recommendations. Would definitely hire them again. read more

Our clothes dryer wasn't working as efficiently as we wanted so we called Smoke Alert to request service. The woman in the office was super nice and scheduled us right away even though the answering machine stated it could take up to 10 weeks for an appointment. We were even able to get an earlier appointment due to a cancellation. We were informed exactly of the services that would be provided and quoted $99. Jason called before he arrived to confirm and was spot in time. He was very friendly, wore a mask and shoe covers and explained what he planned to do.Our dryer vents weren't too dirty but he did a thorough job. He took photos of the dryer, hoses, and vents. Being a fire fighter, he also checked our smoke and CO2 alarms and our fire extinguishers. He was done in about 1/2 hour. We are very pleased and will recommend. read more

Can't say enough about the professionalism of these firemen. Skip the dryer vent cleaning deals from companies that started yesterday and won't be around in a year. Smoke Alert is owned and operated by firemen, and their interest is in you NOT having a fire. They know what they're talking about. Comprehensive visit: They check fire extinguishers (and have available for $25 to $35 if yours is old or missing), review how to use the fire extinguisher, and check smoke and CO detectors. Our new dryer's vent alert light was NOT on, but our airflow was half the recommended minimum. In addition to preventing a fire, that means our clothes will also dry faster now post-cleaning. I learned a huge amount in one visit from Jason, who is a local fireman and works for Smoke Alert as well. Highly recommended. read more

Blake was super helpful with tips on my fireplace and making the house run warm while running the fireplace. Educated me on drafts and so many little tips that a normal chimney sweep doesn't discuss. Fire safety inspection was super helpful and helps me prepare more for the unexpected for me and my family to keep them safe in an emergency. Well worth the price and a new customer for sure. read more

Blake came out and inspected our outdoor chimney. He also checked our fire extinguishers as well as interior smoke alarms. He gave great advice on updating smoke alarms to include carbon monoxide detection. Inspected the dryer hose as well. The whole process took about an hour. Quick and efficient. read more

I contacted a few companies because I knew the entire path from the dryer to vent was covered in dog fur and it was taking forever to dry anything. Smoke alert was recommended by my HVAC company, so they were the first people I contacted. After getting information from other companies, I realized there was a reason they were who Rudy Cools recommends. They got me on the schedule within a few days. Their pricing was very reasonable. And being ran by fire fighters, I knew they wouldn't leave until we were safe. They were early (which was excellent for me). I was not home but they went through everything with my roommate. She said they were very nice and very thorough. Because I was not home, he called me and went through everything again and I also got an email recap. Also, because I was not home, he hadn't been paid. And I was driving when he called. He was very kind and said, get back to me when you are safe. Definitely will use them again! read more

Blake did a great job cleaning the dryer vent. He also replaced the vent behind the dryer with an updated and more efficient vent. He checked the smoke detectors to make sure that they worked properly. I am very happy with the job he did and the cost was reasonable. read more
