My knucklehead dog wet on the outdoor unit corners several years ago. Although I tried to clean the fins, and put up a fence to keep him off of that unit, the corrosion never would stop. It was only a matter of time before it began to leak...and I have the older 410a coolant. So, it's time to replace and change to newer coolant. I had a couple of companies tell me that the coil I had in the attic wasn't correctly matched to the outside unit...and I was going to have to replace that anyway since changing to the newer coolant. Total gave me a great price on changing out both. Since we were doing that much work, I asked about upgrading the furnace, and they suggested I go to a dual-fuel Heat-pump/Gas furnace configuration. They showed me where there is a significant tax credit if done before the end of 2025, as well as a York Electric Coop rebate for this configuration. So, I upgraded the system entirely...and the cost was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the other estimates I got. They finished the entire job in about 6 hours, left everything as clean as when they started, and the Fort Mill Inspector just finished checking everything out and said, "They did it perfectly." They even did a couple of extra things that wasn't in the estimate...because they said..."that is just the right way to do it." I HIGHLY recommend the Team at Total Heating and Cooling. I cancelled the previous group that did two services per year, not only because their estimate to replace everything was over 10 grand MORE than Total's estimate, but the group I fired recommended I clean the blower fins several years ago for 180.oo because "the blower is becoming inefficient." I noted my electric bill was been steady for all those years, so I refused. Well, when the old equipment was removed, I looked at the blower fins...wiped them with my fingers, and they were NOT dirty. Unfortunately, that's how some HVAC companies operate...recommending spending for something that doesn't need to be done, just hoping you'll pay. Based on how Total did my work, I'll trust them not to recommend unneeded work like the other company did. Total has proven to me that I can trust them. By the way, I'm in Fort Mill, SC, NOT San Francisco like it has beside my name....don't know why that is. read more
