I will not recommend this shop. Fails my smog, didn't even put fan in front of the car to help cool the engine! Then i went to different smog and it pass my smog. Kevin said i need catalytic converter but nope he can't fool me. Im not spending that much money if i can buy a bottle of emission cleaner for $15 instead of wasting my money on expensive catalytic converter. I understand it's BUSINESS. Good thing i went to other smog shop that is Honest and the owner said try Emission cleaner and the result is amazing big difference in numbers and it passed my car. read more

Kevin's the man! I bought a handicap van for my brother in law and just before smog came due it started throwing codes. Due to the nature of the vehicle the first couple of shops I called declined to check it out. Handicap vans are expensive to replace so I was pretty bummed. Enter Kevin... He agreed to take a look at it so I dropped it off and crossed my fingers. By the following morning he had located a loose hose which he reconnected and clamped in place. 1 hour labor charge + smog test and certificate fee. I couldn't be more stoked! read more

I recently went to smog and tune due to my ac going out in my car, with the extreme heat I needed to get it done ASAP. I have a toddler and it was just a mess having no ac for a few days after it went out. When I pulled in Kevin immediately was there ready to help and got me in right away. I was so thankful to know that it would be getting done that day. I was told it would take most of the day but they defiantly made it a priority and got it done as soon as possible , and ended up calling me within a few hours of me dropping my car off. My car was fixed and thank goodness We had ac again I have great customer service from mechanic and Kevin himself and would defiantly recommend them in the future for many needs! Can do attitude! My wheelchair van had a check engine light come on just before my smog was due. Because of the system changes (handicap vans are heavily modified) the first couple of places I called were not interested in checking it out. Being from Oregon I am clueless when it comes to smog checks, so I called and asked some questions....extremely rude customer service and an I-don't-care attitude immediately made me think calling was a mistake! I asked what happens when your vehicle fails a test....the man on the phone answered with, "Then it fails." WOW THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!! Then he proceeded to tell me they wouldn't tell you what is wrong with it or why it failed until they run a diagnostic and charge you $150 for it!!! NO THANK YOU!!! I recently moved to San Diego from Los Angeles and was in need of a smog check. I stumbled upon Smog or Tune and decided to give them a call. The owner, Kevin, answered the phone around 5:20pm. I asked him if I could stop by in 15 minutes on my way home from work. He said that would be fine. They close at 6pm so the fact that he was willing to take me last minute before they closed was great customer service. OMG, what an amazing shop. I'm down in San Diego for a conference. My truck breaks down I'm stranded I don't know what to do. I ask one of the local guys at the conference and he recommends smog or tune. I drive down immediately someone comes out to greet me asked me what the problem is let me know that they're going to take care of it. Fixes my truck lickety-split give me some advice on maintenance things to look out for in the future treat me with more than a fair price. Glad I didn't read the last review before going here. I was looking for a place to do the smog on my car. I drove by this place and it didn't look too busy. The man was very friendly, very professional. He quickly set up the smog test and I was probably out of there in 20 minutes. It came out to $50 dollars total. He did inform me of something the car needed fixed, gave me an estimate and I was on my way. No pressure to have them fix the car. I was really pleased and I know I will keep taking the car there for the smog test. Great customer service, very speedy service. In and out of there quickly. Happy customer right here :) read more

Just seen this shop on KUSI news. Would not recommend this place. A man brought his car in for a smog, the car slipped off the wheels and crashed. The shop helped with the body damage but the transmission was wrecked as well and the shop just turned their heads and left the man with no car. read more

This business is a RIP OFF!!!! He knew I was not going to pass smog when he turned my car on and the check engine light was on. Instead of informing me of this before hand he went ahead and performed the smog to swindle me out of my money. Then said it would cost $500 to fix it. I have been going somewhere else for years and the price has climbed there so I decided to try this place. I printed a coupon off the internet when I searched California smog test Lemon Grove. I had my vehicle tested within a half hour on a Saturday the Technician Norman was friendly with me and the customer before me was treated the same way. The price was less then i have been paying the last few years. I will return in a week to have one of my other cars tested. if that goes well it will become my test spot. I have six vehicles in the family that require tests so I understand the process but they still explained the procedure. California's Required smog tests suck but ths place was at least relaxed and painless. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! Took my vehicle to Kevin to have it smogged and was told it didn't pass. Paid around $230 to have the problem diagnosed and was told "You have so many things wrong with your vehicle and it'll cost $1800 to start". Told him I would think about it and let him know. Left his shop and went to another shop and paid around $90 to have my vacuum lines re-routed and another part replaced and it passed. Not sure what the heck Kevin was talking about but he didn't get my $1800..... read more
