Cute atmosphere, but the seating in the bar area was horribly uncomfortable (the waitress in that…read morearea commented that she knew the chairs were tortuous and understood why we moved to the dining room after a couple minutes). I ordered the four meat platter, and in hindsight wish that I had just ordered the brisket platter because the ribs and pulled pork were dry and bland (couldn't taste seasoning or a smoky flavor, and we can legit make better at home). The smoked sausage was nothing special. The only thing I enjoyed was the brisket as it was moist and tender, but again, it wasn't much for a BBQ/smokehouse flavor. As for the bottles of BBQ sauces at the table, they were all very mild; I get in WI restauranteurs tend to hold back on bold or stronger flavors due to the tame cooking of our ancestors, but why that's still the case when people are now well-traveled I will never understand. My husband had the poutine and was not a fan (I did not try it). Finally, the thin brown to-go boxes are useless. We sealed up my leftover meat and placed it in our cooler with other food items. Once home we discovered the material of the box had soaked through and released brown liquid over everything else. Yuck! Such a waste of time to have to wash the cooler and all it's contents because of mediocre BBQ stored in a chintzy box.

Midwest bbq, if you can call it bbq. We were told this was…read morethe best bbq in Wisconsin from a friend I personally was very underwhelmed... I got the pulled pork platter with coleslaw and Brussel sprouts. Pulled pork was bland and didn't have much flavor, lots of liquid on the plate. Coleslaw was coleslaw, take it or leave it. Brussel sprouts were the best thing I ate, they have hot honey and I'm a sucker for hot honey. The drink I had was a chocolate porter from Round Man brewery, it didn't have much flavor, I've had better.

Good ambiance, nice patio, clean restrooms, but my party was very disappointed with their meals…read more Our group of 4 stopped during a work roadtrip, hungry during a long drive. The location is convenient, directly off of the freeway in rural Northern Wisconsin. The menu offers sandwiches, a salad, and platters that don't disclose just how little meat is included (assuming they were 1/4lb servings). I opted for the pulled pork, which unfortunately lacked any flavor besides apple cider vinegar. I had to not only drench it in BBQ, but for the first time ever I had to salt the meat. My coworkers left hungry when their platters included only 2 slices of brisket. Points for creativity on their sides. I love the variety of options, but none met my expectations in the slightest. Overall, the whole meal lacked flavor, seasoning, and they should work on their portions/prices. Spending over $20 on a platter here is a waste.

I enthusiastically change my rating from three stars to five!…read more I visited Tamarack Farms with my family during our recent trip to Hayward and wow is this spot much improved from when I visited six years ago. Some things that stood out: * The farm pizza! This was delicious. We tried a couple including pepperoni and mac and cheese pizza. The crust was excellent as was the toppings. I was also impressed by how well the mac and cheese stayed on top of the pizza. The kids loved it too! * The brisket! My husband's aunt and uncle recommended this, and they weren't wrong. It was so tender. Just perfection! * The cornbread! If you ever had Famous Dave's cornbread, this is very similar, and for good reason. "Famous Dave" Dave Anderson owns Tamarack Farms. * The wine slushies! On a warm day, these hit the spot. It also feels like this restaurant has refined its approach. This includes the decor, the menu and how the restaurant is run. Where before we had to wait a while for our food, this time around everything seemed to run like a well oiled machine. Tamarack Farms also includes a fun selection of wine, so you could take some bottles home with you. The building is open and airy, with large garage doors. It's just a fun place all around. I hope it becomes a tradition that we come here whenever we're in the Northwoods.

I enjoyed the frozen margaritas. Very tasty and a good way to cool down. We got pizza and a salad. It was good thin crust pizza. The salad was super big and filling. They had a small menu but there were tons of families and adults hanging out. It was def a vibe!
