I went here with a friend a couple weeks ago, as I was saying about how I wanted to try authentic Italian food. This place is an institution that's been around for over 20 years. It's not extremely upscale, but it's a comfortable dining environment. I went with the carbonara after I saw the ingredients in it. An authentic carbonara consists of spaghetti or linguine, guanciale, eggs, and a special kind of cheese. No cream, no milk, no garlic, no onions. This was exactly what I got with this carbonara, so I can confirm it's 100% authentic Italian. It was absolutely delicious, and the prices are very affordable for the quality and authenticity you get. I added a lemon meringue cheesecake. Pretty good, loved the design especially. Given the combined total of under $40 including tax and tips, this is very reasonable for an Italian dinner. Service is excellent. I'll definitely return.

It was so much fun visiting Moxies here on Kenaston in Winnipeg, the city where I grew up! I…read moreactually recently went to the Yelp opening of their incredible new top floor at the Las Olas location in Fort Lauderdale, so I was really excited to check out this hometown spot. The Kenaston location absolutely lived up to the brand's great vibe. The atmosphere was upscale and lively, the food was excellent, and the service was top-notch. It's a fantastic place for a night out, and it felt great to be back home enjoying a meal here!

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Moxies Kenaston…read more First, the food took 30-40 minutes to arrive. When my steak finally came, it was cooked completely wrong. I ordered medium well, but it arrived closer to medium rare. I had no choice but to send it back and wait again. After finishing the meal, I asked for the bill and waited another 10 minutes while watching my server walk around serving and cashing out other tables. I only received the bill after asking again when the manager happened to pass by. When I reviewed the bill, I noticed two unexpected $4 charges. These turned out to be for two sauces the server had offered while taking the order. He simply said there were two sauces available and asked which one I preferred. At no point did he mention they would cost extra. Had I known, I would not have ordered them. I asked to speak to the manager and explained both the slow service and the undisclosed charges. His response was that the restaurant had become busy so service quality had declined. He offered either an $8 refund or a $25 Moxies gift card. And in the meanwhile he already have the 25$ gift card out so I can get myself out ASAP. Throughout the conversation, the attitude felt dismissive and perfunctory. If service declines because it's busy, why doesn't the expected tip percentage decline as well? I chose to take the $8 refund and declined the gift card. Since I paid in cash, I requested the $8 back in cash. The manager insisted that they do not allow cash returns and told me to leave my full name and phone number. He said they would contact me the next day so I could provide my card number for a refund. Because I was in a rush to catch a movie, I agreed and left. About 15 minutes later, the manager called and said their card refund system "might not be working" and that I could come back to pick up the $8 in cash. This was extremely frustrating. Fifteen minutes earlier, I was told cash refunds were not allowed. After I had already left and traveled some distance, I was suddenly told to return and collect the cash. This is not a reasonable resolution. While Moxies may not miss one customer, this kind of dismissive and inconsistent handling of issues reflects very poorly on management and customer service standards. We spent almost $300 and this is the kind of service we get? I will not be returning

I love that this place looks more upscale - think Earls, but doesn't compromise the quality of their food. It is the only place I know of where you can get new style sashimi (sashimi that is slightly seared) and roles that are wrapped with either cucumber or radish. YUM! The last time I went here I tried their features roll which was called a velvet something or other. I was hesitant because it was $22 but it came with around 10 pieces and was AMAZballs. No regrets ordering it at all. Which does make me let you know that the sushi is on the pricey side, but worth it. All of the ingrediants are fresh and the drinks are well made. Some are weird combinations - like the ginger pear. Take that off the menu. When you make a reservation also think of where you want to sit. They have a party type room off the front hostess desk which is completely private, they have the lounge, the main floor dining (one side open to the chefs and the other closed) then they have the upstairs and the back room. With a place like Pony Corral, one should definitely not expect top notch quality, but something that's middle of the road and edible. That was the mindset I came in while ordering here, in which I had the chicken and ribs with the soup of the day (tomato and wild rice). The soup was actually really good. It felt fresh and they separated the extra ingredients such as onions and sour cream so you can choose to add (or not add) them. The chicken and ribs were nothing special, but nothing terrible either. Service was great and what I expected for a place like this. If you set your standards right, it's a decent place. It definitely won't blow you out of the water though.

I let our server know when she asked, but not as a complaint. She let us know that she would be right out with our refills. Instead, a guy brought us ours, and when he put them onto the table, he didn't let go of them, and stared back and forth at us. It was really odd, especially because he turned out to be the manager. He was argumentative, confrontational, and belittling. I let him know that it was me that said that the steaks weren't done how we ordered them. He asked us if we even know the "correct" doneness of each steak, and proceeded to tell us that we didn't. He made quite a big issue out of it. So much so, that he went back to the kitchen to get his chart, and pointed out each level. He stared us in the eye and was defensive and challenging. I rarely go out to eat, so this was supposed to be a nice, relaxing occasion. We had hoped to go out for a nice meal, and enjoy a nice steak. It was the absolute opposite when Chris came out like some sort of pitbull. I feel bad for the staff at this location, because if he was willing to treat two complete strangers this way, he definitely is this way to the people around him. One thousand per cent DO NOT recommend!! Do not even think about coming here. Tell your friends to save them the hassle.

I picked this location because it seemed to check all the boxes I was looking for, centrally located to where I wanted to be, free parking, reasonably priced, and decent reviews. I liked that there was security in the parking garage at all times and also in the lobby. The lobby is bright and clean and the staff was friendly. I didn't use the pool or anything like that so I can't really comment. Their breakfast is an a la carte pay as you go type of deal so I skipped it. The room is nothing really to write home about but the bed is comfy and I like that they give you different options for pillows. I had a gift card to use at any The Keg Steakhouse and Bar. I decided that I'd use it on my birthday and treat myself to a quality dinner. Last year, I was in the area and had two steakhouse choices. I went with Mr Mikes. This year, I chose The Keg. This location is the only one out of the bunch in Winnipeg that I had yet to visit. I came here after taking in a matinee movie at the Cineplex nearby. It was just before 6 pm. I drove over here and found parking in a vast parking lot. It was busy. I walked in. I was immediately greeted by a female staffer. I was looking for a table for one. She said that there was bar seating. No wait. Perfect! I selected a seat that faced the screen with the Argentina - Cape Verde FIFA World Cup game that was about to start. Nice! The lobster summer menu looked so good. However, I had my heart set on a prime rib dinner. I stuck with my original plan. I got the nicest bartender who took my order: - Diet Pepsi - Classic prime rib meal: - Mixed greens with mustard vinaigrette - Ten-ounce prime rib (medium) with au jus, crispy onions, mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and horseradish - Caesar brussels sprouts My Diet Pepsi came out first. It was cold and refreshing. I would get a refill later on. A couple sat next to me. They were probably in their sixties. The man said hi to me. I reciprocated. They talked about fishing and how they used to live in Ontario with one of the bartenders. They were clearly regulars at this establishment, as they ended up chatting with at least two other bartenders. My food had arrived. Three plates. It look like I hadn't eaten in years! The couple looked at everything that I had. The man: You deserve the Order of Manitoba if you can finish everything. Me: It's my birthday and I plan on enjoying everything. I am normally not that bold to state that it's my birthday. I was looking forward to this meal, I would eventually polish off all three plates of food because I was hungry and I had wanted this meal. I started with the mixed greens with mustard vinaigrette. Everything was so crisp and fresh. The pickled onions gave a nice contrast to the plump tomatoes, yummy cucumbers, and fresh mixed greens. The mustard vinaigrette was excellent. Every bite had the perfect amount of it. I loved the prime rib. It was medium. Tender. Yummy. The au jus was perfect. Every morsel got dunked in it. The crispy onions looked like a lot. However, enjoying them with the mashed potatoes and au jus was the perfect amount. The mashed potatoes were comforting. I liked that the skin was left on the taters before they got mashed. The caesar brussels sprouts were outstanding. It tasted like a caesar salad with the best creamy dressing, buttery croutons, and a lemon wedge to squeeze over everything. The brussels sprouts were roasted to perfection and were scrumptious. I want to recreate this side. During my meal, the man said to the bartender that I could buy any drink, as it was my birthday and he was treating. It was such a sweet gesture. I was not expecting it. I got a mojito. Moments later, it appeared in front of me. I thanked the couple for making my dinner extra special. They wished me a happy birthday and we clinked glasses. The mojito was so good. I love any drink with lime and mint. It was wonderful. I stayed to watch the entire FIFA game. Argentina won in extra time. I presented my gift card to my bartender. I had printed it out, as it was a digital one. I said to use it all, which would include the tip. Done! I thanked the couple again for their kind gesture and for making my day so special. They were so gracious and wished me a happy birthday again and a good evening. I headed to the women's washroom before making tracks back to Steinbach. Another benefit sitting by the bar is that the washrooms are a few steps away. The women's washroom felt fancy. The stall that I used was clean. No complaints. I had an exceptional experience here. Great food and drinks. It helped that there were friendly folks at the bar and excellent bartenders who made my birthday a memorable one. (302)
