We went to see the Advangers 7 pm movie last night and Jacob waited on us. My husband had his retired Army hat on and he shook his hand and thanked him for his service. We had gone previously before for a free movie night and I was intrigued by the idea of Smitty's Cinema. My birthday had rolled around and I came home from college that weekend. I took a girl that I fancied out on a date and we settled on Smitty's. We could have gone to the Magic Lantern or the Mountain Valley Mall Cinema but we settled on here instead. We ordered our food and got the drinks. Wrong drinks and we got them fixed. It took us about almost two hours into the film to finally receive our food. By then it was cold and we were full. Clean, comfortable chairs, average food (not a good or a bad thing. It was reasonable for what it was, just slightly overpriced). The service was a bit scattered. While I understand that it was busy, perhaps an additional staff member or two would have helped. The movie we saw was sold out, and we did have to wait quite a bit for various things we ordered. Smitty's Cinema is okay. The food was good and reasonably priced. In addition, the name of the food is made up from movie titles. The size of the screen is a little small and the picture quality was not as sharp as some other theaters in Southern Maine. If I could give a 1/2 star I would bump the review to a 3.5. read more

Had a good experience- once you adjust to the seating config it's quite pleasant. Good menu for pub style food, craft beers & cocktails which can be enjoyed while watching movie. Movie selection has gotten much better after the recent remodel. Stranded pub food but its great to have a drink while at the movies.

Went once, never going back. Apparently people feel that because they are eating during the movie, dinner conversation is ok. Schmucks.

The food was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. The mozerella sticks especially. They were so melty. Good selection of alcohol because who doesnt enjoy a good drink with a movie? The fact that they they serve pitchers so you don't have to keep reordering is awesome as well. Would definitely recommend, and I'll be seeing every movie here from now on. read more

Ticket was only $7.25, theater got kind of loud at times, food was decent but just a little overpriced (probably to compensate for the low ticket pricing,) but overall had a good time. Staff was really friendly too, I'd definitely come back when I'm up here in Maine. read more

there setup is extremely horrible...chairs are literally computer desk chairs and it's extremely crowed. the whole ordering set up is messed. it was hot in the movie theater, sitting there sweating. i ordered the bacon mac and cheese and uhhhh there was NO BACON IN IT and all the waiter said was "i'm sorry maam there's nothing we can do". popcorn was cheap but that's the only good thing about it. read more

My family has been going to the Windham Smittys for years and have always loved the experience. Our last experience was such a disappointment. The tables were sticky, the app that they had out with the QR codes didn't work (not sure why they were even on the tables as an option) the people beside us had waited 20 minutes for a server and then went on a search for someone. Everything we ordered was horrible. The steak and cheese tasted burnt like it had been cooked on a dirty grill,cheese nachos had barely any cheese on them, the soda was flat, and my sons slushy was absolutely horrible. A red slushy should be red, not pink and it had absolutely no flavoring in it. I literally spit it out. I don't usually write reviews , but for a place that we have gone to for years, I was so disappointed at how downhill this place has gone since COVID. Not to mention the movie started like 25 minutes later than it was supposed to.. You would think businesses would be trying harder to keep up their standards due to declining business. If you care about cinematography, do not come here!!! I went to this cinema to watch the film "Us". The screening room setup was a bit odd, with rolling chairs, tables, and counter spaces, but I did not (yet) think of it as a problem. Once the movie started, I could not help but noticed that they did not turn the lights off. I thus left the screening room to inquired about it. I was told by the management that they did not turn the lights off, but dimmed them down; they needed light for the waiter to bring in food to customers. I told them that I could barely see the screen, but it did not matter. There was so much light in the theater, that I could have easily read a book. I could see everything and everyone around me (no privacy). The abundant amount of light beamed into the screen, giving a glare to everything that was supposed to be black. It did not help that the film "Us", was mostly shot at night. I found myself constantly struggling to tell the actors apart from their surroundings. Due to the bright atmosphere, people socialized much more and were very loud. Thus, my experience at Smitty's was one with no privacy, no intimacy, loud people, waiters regularly walking on front of you to serve other customers food, a blurred out film, and a light reflecting screen, taking all of the joy out of the visuals. Imagine going to the library at 1:00 pm, sitting between strangers, and using one of their computers to watch a movie. Imagine the sun just behind you shinning into your screen. Now imagine the screen being much bigger; that's Smitty's cinema. If you actually want to see the film you pay for, do not come here. read more

The food was OK and the beer was good, but it hard to enjoy a movie when the waitress is constantly talking louder than the dialogue. I understand you're taking orders, but I shouldn't be able to hear you offering water to someone across the theater when an action sequence is on the screen. Then there's the issue of the workers talking so loudly in the hallway that you could hear them through the closed door. Throw in the trashy biker woman sitting behind me talking throughout the movie and I doubt I'll be back. Theaters such as the Alamo Drafthouse don't have this issue. read more

Great prices. They accidentally started a horror movie while we were there with small kids for a children's movie. The management apologized and refunded the ticket price amongst other things. That type of customer service absolutely cannot be beat! 10/10 ill be back! read more

The novelty of this place is certainly it's greatest selling point! All of the theaters are made up of cozy "office" chairs that recline and also roll around! You have your own private table and there are waitstaff that come to serve drinks and food. They are always very respectful and do not interrupt the movie much at all. The other little known fact is that every Tuesday is five dollar movie night! With a check-in prize of a free small popcorn, and the five dollar ticket price, that is an affordable and fun date night for anyone. Overall, this place is always clean and the service is great. I'm not a huge fan of the food but there are a few good things worth trying if you're looking for some greasy bar food - The potato skins and the chicken fingersThe taco salad is surprisingly delicious. If you want an adult beverage, I would suggest a beer as the cocktails tend to be on the sugary and light pour side of things. All in all, a great date night to see any current movie in comfy seats in a unique environment. read more

I don't find their food to be as good as other restaurants so we just get snacks and drinks. The ice cream sundaes are huge! The movie experience is much more comfortable than your typical theater. Lots of room to move around. It's also always been clean, especially the bathrooms, which is important to every woman! read more

The food here has always been a solid three, but the place has gone down just a little bit. It's sort of been like an upgraded movie version of Chuckie Cheese, but with beers for grown-ups. If I had it my way, I'd grab a nice pizza at Rose's nearby and then grab a nice draft Guinness with popcorn and tonics for the kids at Smitty's. The Stuffed Potato Skins are easily the best option on the appetizer menu, the Buffalo Wing order is really tiny for the money, and the Chili Nachos are absolutely revolting; a perfect storm of cheap nachos smothered in that gross alleged cheese sauce and lettuce with a few tablespoons of Mexican dog food tossed here and there with a big dollop of sour cream on the side. I'm sure my dog would pass on it, and that SOB eats everything! On the positive side, the place is comfortable, clean and the service is pretty darned good. I've had burgers here - a little on the expensive side - but they're decent. Guinness and Shipyard on tap, another major plus, especially when you got dragged by your kid to see "Into the Storm'" - probably the worst movie I've seen in quite a while. Had a horrible dinner and service experience on Tuesday, April 1st. (Check 2333 @ 6:47PM) with Brian 132, Tbl 441)...Greeted well, although not dynamically, at front by very nice young lady. Went to Theater 4 and was initially shocked to find both tables and chairs soiled and full of crumbs from previous dinners. I was particularly taken aback because ALL my previous visits to Smitty's there has always been a HUGE commitment to cleanliness. I first had to clean before I could settle down to relax. As I have been recovering most of the winter from cancer surgeries and had not been out much, I was looking forward to a nice, calming experience...that did not happen. Our server, who did not even apologize or aid me in cleaning up our section, kind of pounced on us for drinks. I was still cleaning! Since the menu had changed (again) I had some difficulty finding a substitute for my favorite wrap. The closest was the Turkey (previously, my turkey was delicious, premium and cut in deli-slices) BLT which I asked for as a wrap and not on a roll...also asked for Swiss Cheese to be added, crispy bacon (not crumbles, guys), to be topped with L& T (a "come-with), and mayo on the side...my bad, I forgot not to order the French Fries (although fantastic fires) and sub a side-salad because we (my daughter was with me) also ordered the potato skins as an appetizer. The skins, which were delivered by a young, kind of timid, but nice, male server we had not seen before arrived almost cheese-less and with one turned completely upside-down on top without any cheese at all! They were not what was expected and were just okay...I also ordered a large diet soda with EXTRA ICE...well, that was a NO! Think I asked the Potato Skin server for the extra ice (again)...so, I looked for A server to get the extra ice and no one was in the theater for forever...Food took forever to arrive and were the wraps were finally delivered by yet another server (girl, this time); asked her for the side mayo which was missing and then asked her for the ice...finally got the mayo; never the ice! (Girl server FAIL!) So I started to bite into my wrap and found not slices of delicious turkey but long, think, sinewy turkey (like turkey ends from the deli counter) "chunks" ...NO Swiss Cheese as a matter of fact, NO CHEESE! And the mayo was slathered on the wrap and not on side...ugh! Now the movie was ongoing and there were no servers to be found...waited; waited some more; and more...NADA...so, I had to leave the theater while my movie was playing and go out to find someone to re-make my wrap correctly...the hall was a virtual serer-desert! Walked down to almost the kitchen where, Eureka!, there was a plethora of servers congregated around the computer table on the left, closest to the kitchen...our original server, still was MIA??? Some older server asked me what the issue was and then, our server emerged from the kitchen and I told him that the wrap was missing cheese and that I did not want chunks of turkey, but slices...he mumbled something about how the chunks were just THICK SLICES...I told him I disagreed with that estimation and wanted sliced turkey...WRAP REPLAY: STILL HAD CHUNKS, HAD MAYO, HAD BACON CRUMBLES, LITTLE SWISS CHEESE SQUARES, AND NO TOMATO!!! I gave up and salvaged the innards into a salad of sorts...eating only half and deciding to bring the rest home to use as salad fixin's. Have to admit, our original server did stop by to ask if 2nd wrap was better...I decided to just fold and dsaid yes...then, he was gone again until bill drop time...issue is, we wanted to order dessert, especially since dinner was somewhat sparse...no servers ever arrived to ask or take an order. Really? To my great surprise, there was no attempt to comp or to appease with a dessert...oh, well, one trip to Smitty's may not garner another...after all, $16 for the tickets and $37.75 for mediocre food...and yes, we American dupes left a $6 tip! What can you say, Smitty's...think you owe me money enough to buy a lobster dinner with these prices, but at the least, we should get our dinner money back! One other observation...the manager's office seemed to be basically empty, although we did see a young man turning out the lights in the office and closing the door. So, we left without leaving comments directly. From our first GREAT visits, to this current visit, there is a palpable decline...I would say on a 1-10 scale (ten being BEST EVER), a minus 1 is even an inadequate assessment. read more
