The Nick is great-I love it! The Nick is really supportive of the local film scene, if that wasn't enough they also have $5 Tuesdays. I've been to a number of film fests there and it's always my favorite venue. The staff is fun, they recognize you and you will feel welcomed and at home. It has a great smell and they layer the butter in your popcorn with a smile and make you laugh.

The building is very beautiful inside and parking is convenient since there's an attached garage. The staff is very friendly, too.

I go to Maine every summer and make sure to see at least one film here. They show a good mix of Hollywood blockbusters and indie darlings.

Great popcorn and self serve "butter" area if it's something you are interested in. I was not. There were a few people that were partaking. Decent soda mix. The room we were in had plenty of room in the aisles. both the center aisle and the seated aisle. Even when reclined, you can get by someone to get to your seat. I was surprised to see how small lobby was. It gets crowded by concession stand pretty quickly. Despite the crowds, the staff at concessions was really nice. I took away a star, because the restrooms were horrible. They were dark and it appeared there was stuff smeared on the stall walls that looked like it wasn't 'new" - I gagged the whole time. Ugh Parking - easy and plentiful.

They…read moreseem much cleaner, there's no tears or cracking in the thick material, all the buttons to recline actually work. I noticed it a while back; this place was definitely loved hard over the past decade plus, so it's nice to see these upgrades! This is still my go-to theater: 1) I like the ease of choosing my seat and ordering my ticket online ahead of time. We've never had an issue or glitch with this. We just show up, use the little machine to scan our barcode, and it's as easy as that. 2) I like the annual Premium Popcorn Pail deal (even if the bucket is 20% smaller than it used to be). We always trade ours in at the end of the year/beginning of the new year for some kind of genuinely decent promotional deal. On average, throughout the year of using it it seems it costs us anywhere between $11 and $17 to get it filled and get one large soda (that we could get unlimited refills on if we could be bothered to leave the theater). 3) The "luxury power recliners" themselves are, for me at least, bigger and more comfortable than some of the couches I've owned. I crawl into my seat, hit the button, up go my feet, back goes my upper half, and I'm immersed in a cloud of comfort (without annoying anyone the way this same action does on a plane). And they're SPACIOUS: I can have my jacket in my seat next to me, my purse, my food... and there's still room. 4) I like that they show old movies!!! TAKE MY MONEY, I want to see Jaws here every summer. 5) FREE movie on your birthday (all you need is your ID to prove it's your big day)! Admittedly, during really busy times, it could use some additional TLC: 1) The soda area can get quite wet and sticky. 2) The bathroom trash bins are often overflowing (and actually, I think that's on you, future customer. Can you please just kind of push your towel down into the bin instead of laying it on top of it?). 3) Why are the bathroom stalls SMALLER than airplane bathrooms? I'm a small person, and I still have to contort my body to close the door. Still, it's comfortable and (mostly) clean and the staff working here can be really charming and goofy and I love that because THAT'S what a movie theater staff should be.

You could walk into this theater and never talk to or see an employee. I bought my ticket online, walked directly into the building, and freely to/from my screen without ever needing to show any proof that I had even bought a ticket. Which, like, as an introvert was amazing. But I'm pretty sure I could have stayed there all day bopping in and out of whatever movie I wanted (this was true for a midday, weekday screening, anyway). 3. The bathrooms here are not super clean, but they are super small. 4. If you're seeing a movie that's quieter, artsy, or dialogue-driven and the theater adjacent to yours is showing an action, adventure, or horror movie... that's the movie you're going to hear and experience. The bass absolutely overtakes everything. 5. It doesn't actually get that dark in these theaters. Because this cinema has stadium seating (where the seats go up platform by platform instead of going down a gradual slope), the safety lighting on the wall sort is sort of always in your periphery. I wouldn't not come here, I just wouldn't intentionally choose coming here.

I have been a long time patron of this theater. 20+ years. I've seen many owners, tons of changes, the scare that was Covid-- but one thing was always consistent besides the fresh popcorn. The staff. Many of us know who I'm talking about. The projectionist- Gracia- was there for longer then I had been a patron. She ran that place from the ground up. She even crowd funded (which I supported) purchasing the theater in 2019 before it was sold from under her. She was the bones the bread and the butter of that place. It was a labor of love and watching her adapt over the years and be so consistent was such a joy. Along with her awesome t shirts. This year there was yet another change of ownership. And I have come to learn that she was discarded like her 25 years of service meant nothing. And not only that, I was lied to that she left on her own. Which isn't the case. They also let go another staff member that has disabilities but a whole lot of heart. Sam was the light of my weekend. They worked there 12 years. My heart is heavy. This place was much more than a cinema. It was community. And now it just feels cold. I will not be returning.

Round up the family and or friends and get a ticket online and enjoy a movie or two or sometimes three depending on the time of year and what they are playing. It's hard to beat the price for a carload to see multiple movies compared to what you'd pay at a theater. During the summer they are playing the newest and most in demand movies along side some throwback nights or seasonal movies close to Halloween and just last night my wife and I enjoyed some Christmas movies. Picture quality is good, though there was a smudge on the screen that I kept noticing. The entrance felt a bit disheveled. The projector wasn't working for the pre-show stuff, which made me nervous enough to go ask the staff about it as the show was about to start. The projector started for the previews and the movie. I wish we hadn't gotten horror movie previews, though, just because it was a Stephen King movie. A couple of the seats were in terrible shape, with covering torn off them and it sounds like at least one of the speakers in the back right is blown, because it was really static-y and crackly. But, I'll echo what a couple other folks have said already: PRO: $20 for a double feature for a whole carload of people is unbeatable! CON: We were in a Honda HRV (not a huge SUV) and tried to park in the third row where other vehicles our size were parked. A man came (literally) running after us to tell us we needed to move back a row because we were "too big." The fourth row was almost exclusively enormous pickup trucks. Fortunately, the ground in the fourth row had a bit of a bump, so we were able to position our vehicle on an incline and it offered fantastic views of the screen. Also, people weren't parking near the outdated microphone stands (which are spaced out for a reason), and instead we had someone park (their mega truck) so close to us that we couldn't even open our passenger door. Sooo... just a heads-up regarding where/how you park your vehicle.

Saco Drive-In does a double feature presentation where you can come early to grab a spot via your vehicle, or you can come during the second half to watch the second movie. It is only $20/vehicle for TWO movies! You can bring your own food and drinks or you can grab something from the concession stands in the back. How it works: Park your car not too close, as you'll be struggling to see the movie from within. Turn off your engine by setting your car to ACC, as you'll have to use your radio to listen to the movie. The screen will provide you with the radio station to tune into. Turn off your headlights, and get ready to watch the movie!
