Some things to know about this theater: 1. The matinee prices - including their "bargain day" - are more expensive than other cinemas in Greater Portland. 2. You could walk into this theater and never talk to or see an employee. I bought my ticket online, walked directly into the building, and freely to/from my screen without ever needing to show any proof that I had even bought a ticket. Which, like, as an introvert was amazing. But I'm pretty sure I could have stayed there all day bopping in and out of whatever movie I wanted (this was true for a midday, weekday screening, anyway). 3. The bathrooms here are not super clean, but they are super small. 4. If you're seeing a movie that's quieter, artsy, or dialogue-driven and the theater adjacent to yours is showing an action, adventure, or horror movie... that's the movie you're going to hear and experience. The bass absolutely overtakes everything. 5. It doesn't actually get that dark in these theaters. Because this cinema has stadium seating (where the seats go up platform by platform instead of going down a gradual slope), the safety lighting on the wall sort is sort of always in your periphery. We've gone to Apple Cinemas for years and they never have any of the "menu" items they heavily advertise. Always a stupid excuse, too early, not enough employees to handle it. Today was their last chance and they blew it as usual. Do not go on an empty stomach. Bring a picnic lunch if you have to go there. Personally, I'm done with them! read more

The movies are quite expensive now a days, but I did go the other day. Everyone was friendly and it was clean. My favorite part is that you can make your own popcorn now so you can put as much butter as you want on it. $6.75 for a water is insane though. Overall I'll only go when I really want to see the movie. read more

Very misleading website, if you booked online and expected a theatre where you could still buy food guess again. Most of the concessions are unavailable. Popcorn, candy and drinks that's it. Wouldn't have driven so far if we knew it was just like every other theater. read more

The old theatre was so much better and more of a community experience with coffee snacks etc. the workers were friendly. Since won out of town entrepreneur bought it, it has an ugly commercial vibe. Feels lonely and garish. There is no coffee. Mainers go to theatres and get popcorn and coffee. Hot drinks. This is the only theatre in greater Portland with no coffee. Literally half hour of advertisements. Seats are often broken without a full recline. When you buy tickets, seats available map is invariably wrong showing a full theatre with two crummy locations. Then you go to watch the movie and the theatre is mostly empty. I hope the establishment owners read these reviews and make changes. Bring back community and coziness. Tone down the colors neon and garish displays. Improve customer service. read more

I have to admit I haven't been to the movies in along time. Everything is self serve. From buying my ticket, picking my seat before entering the theater, scooping my own popcorn and pouring my drink. The movie was great! But, I miss the old days.... I remember walking into the theater and the smell of popping popcorn and the movie attendant tearing my ticket and telling me which theater my movie is playing in. Went to see a movie on 6/29/24 @ 2pm. My husband greets the young man behind the counter as we check out with popcorn, candy, and water. Young man says nothing to my husband in response. We pay for a large popcorn but young man has no large popcorn buckets but only bags. Young man cannot open bag and sticks his entire hand into the popcorn bag to open it, which is unhygienic. Husband asks for a regular size popcorn bucket which is a dollar cheaper. Manager is involved now. Young lady with green/purple hair. Messes up the entire refund and it makes no sense. I ask for another manager. There is not one, only her. Bathrooms had no soap in the dispensers. No paper towels. During our movie, the theater next to ours had such loud music, the sound and bass traveled into our movie, making it hard to hear and enjoy. Theater had popcorn under the seats when we first walked in, as if the theater was never cleaned. Manager and workers at the stand, I notice, just talk with each other and don't do anything to help with the theater. I only saw one man cleaning. Twice now I've just walked right into that movie theater without one person checking tickets. This place sucks! read more

There is plenty to love about this theater - the extremely cozy reclining seats, the little trays to put all your snacks and drinks, the self-serve popcorn machine that lets you go absolutely bonkers with butter and is probably so bad for my arteries but hey... YOLO! What is not so great about this theater is the upkeep. Bathrooms need some serious work. The entrance and counter where you buy tickets and concessions seems pretty run down. Seems like a limited supply of things compared to other theaters. The ticket prices seemed high but maybe I'm just used to matinee. I think that, with just a few tweaks, this could be a really great theater. I look forward to coming back and seeing the improvements that they make. read more

We had a rough experience when the fire alarm went off during the 2:00 showing of the new Wicked Movie. We had to leave all of our concessions behind and they were expensive. Then we were told to go out into the parking lot which was on the back side of the building and no further instructions came. So there we were freezing our hineys off and finally my son in law went back to the front door to try and get the word, which he did. So they said there was an electrical problem and we wouldn't be let back inside. Kneeko brought the car around and we went on home. But most people just kept milling about and it was fairly chaotic. I hope my kids get their money back. I just miss my sugar free root beer and popcorn which was mostly still intact. But I feel sorry for the kids who have to go in and clean all that stuff up!!! read more

Pretty much self serve! You can buy your tickets online, pick your seats and also buy your snacks prior to the show. Drinks are fountain or bottled water. Icee machine. Popcorn, you can serve and butter it yourself and to your liking. Seat are comfortable, has a movable table attached to the seat that is a nice feature! So bummed with what this has become. I grew up with this location as a Cinemagic- truly amazing staff, exciting environment, super clean, lots of fun. Since Apple Cinema bought this location, it's a depressing shell of what it used to be. I wanted to see a movie here, so I went online to buy reserve tickets, as that is what was suggested. The website showed me showtimes but didn't actually let me click on tickets. I got to the theater and there are no employees actually selling tickets- it's two very slow-working computers that ask you several questions and require you to pick a seat and then pay. If you try to relocate your seats on these machines, good luck. They're impossible to use and extremely slow. And there are no employees around to help. The theater itself smelled awful. It was either stale weed or rotting carpet or both. Bad news. No more arcade, no more joy and excitement brought by the movies. Just very long lines brought by self-service computers that take forever and make everyone late to their movie. This is a pretty bad situation. Ok so, as the world reopens and we are making it back to the movie theaters, the new name on the building here in Westbrook gave me hope and was thinking there would be crazy upgrades as a lot of theaters are going to the reclining chairs and comfortable settings (like in Saco and in Falmouth) but this was not the case. The name is different. The theater is exactly the same. Although it felt fantastic to be back in the theater, I think I will make it over to Saco and experience the upgrades apple made there in the future. I came here on premier night for a large blockbuster and it was pretty empty, it was understaffed and was pretty lackluster. (although I liked the spacing between people in the theater with it being pretty empty) Maybe there is more to come? read more

Although just opened, it was great to be at the movies again. The staff was super friendly and nice. We saw James Bond, it was non stop action and good quiet scenes as well. We def want to go back to see more movies. read more

Apple Cinema - Theater #15 - Cinema Near Me - Westbrook, Maine

The ticket prices are 15 dollars for adults. Not terrible but not great. Candy choices are decent but the freakin popcorn is stale and disgusting. I don't understand how you can let a business carry the Apple name and give so little care to the experience. The woman's bathroom could definitely be cleaner as well and as someone who's worked in customer service the lack of welcoming attitude is astounding. read more

We were in a showing room that was renovated. It was very nice, lots of room and a tray. I like the smaller rooms.

Went to see the lion king rerelease. The theater was fine. The bathrooms were really dirty. The recliners were ok.

We hadn't been to a movie theater since before COVID. Three of us planned to meet at the theater on 4 September 2024. Some of us arrived at different times. We were asked to pick our seats at check-in. I've never heard of that before. I would have preferred just to go into the theater, find the rest of our group and to sit with them. We had to text other members of our party to find out where to sit. The theater's seats were okay. The volume was ridiculously high. We had to stuff paper in our ears to avoid going deaf. If I ever go again, I'll bring hearing protection with me. read more

Welcome back, Saco movie theater. I'm not going to lie, knowing it was under new management, I thought, "is this going to be a lipstick on a pig" situation where it's open, but the lights are flickering and zero dollars were spent getting it open. Happy to report it was a great experience. There's no longer a specific ticket person as you walk in, instead it's all automated or at the concession stand... I don't know if you can buy tickets from the concession as we bought ours online in advance. PLEASE bear with them as they learn this new system, it's just as all new to them. The staff was super nice (one younger guy helping us was hilarious!!). We went for the IMAX and recliners were comfy, the screen was great and there weren't any stains or holes in it or whatever I was expecting (lol). Just overall a great time at the movies and can't wait to go back. Do I wish you had to be vaccinated to go here? Yes. Will that ever happen? Probably not. We're vaxxed up and picked a weeknight for less of a crowd and had no one sitting directly next to us. read more

I went to see Wakanda Forever. We got the renovated theater with reclining seats, very nice and comfy. The theater was 50% full for an evening show. We got the usual, popcorn and a drink $$$. Like most people I was just happy to get back to the movies. The old days for a lot of things are gone, but the magic of going out to a movie is still worth it. Like most businesses they are short staffed and have resulted to automation which makes it a bit "Cold" but that's post pandemic for everyone. I liked it. read more

Good seats and I sorta like the tables but they ruin the view and experience. Why do I need a table for my popcorn and candy? The worst part is the 37 minutes of trailers that played before the movie. I'm 46 years old and this is BY FAR the WORST movie experience I've ever had in my life. First of off, they wouldn't even sell POPCORN!!! That's my family's whole reason to go to the theater is the popcorn and drinks! You could only get candy and drinks, even tho I already paid for the popcorn through the self checkout machine thingy. I thought it was fine cause they had popcorn popping and I thought we were going to get fresh warm popcorn, considering we did pay 72$ to go to this movie! But nope, it was for tomorrows shows, they already sold out of todays popcorn I guess. It was a filthy place, stunk like piss and everything you touched was sticky! DO NOT GO HERE! Went to see enternals (don't), new owners at the Westbrook theater and it doesn't even feel it. Just don't go to this theater, take the bit of a drive to Saco just for the seating. Seats are still same old upright ones with no reclining and back pain. Also walked out of eternals 45 minutes into it. Definitely not a real marvel movie. We just about cried when it was announced that Cinemagic was closing... yet another pandemic casualty. What a thrill to hear that Apple Cinema had purchased the place. We've just been to one movie since and yes, there haven't been any significant updates, and you buy your tickets on a computer screen. But, it's OPEN (and there were friendly, smiley employees if you needed anything) and we're still dealing with an employment crunch and pandemic challenges. So, I'm more than happy to give it time and in the meantime, just seeing a movie on the big screen again in my neighborhood will suffice. read more
