Great drive through, very large screen (we were quite comfortable with being able to see well in the back), fun space, close to both Portland and Freeport and the owners are really nice and responsive to questions from Facebook. It was late in the evening for us so we didn't get to check out the concession stand, but definitely look forward to doing so next time later in the season when showings are earlier. Thanks for making our first drive-in experience so wonderful. This is our first moving outing since covid began and we look forward to coming back for more! Tips: bring the kiddos, we saw plenty play on the lawn prior to the movie. Tip #2: bring a radio, or figure out camp mode on your car before the movie.

Evidence on the scumbag, Jeff Tevanian.

Owner preys and targets on underage girls, would attempt to convince them to go into the back room to "show them how a projector works..." There are TONS of others who has spoke up against the owner, multiple red flags and creep vibes from Jeff. There was a mom who spoke out that this isn't the first time it has happened nor he has done this before, her daughters were 12 and 15 at the time when Jeff attempted to lure them back into his "back projector room" but luckily their father was there at the time and saved his daughters in time before anything could've happen. Shut down this goddamn place and along with his other businesses, they do not deserve to earn money from families who believed this place was a safe area to bring families and friends together.

Like going back in time! Drive Inn brings back memories of when I was a kid and my parents took me to a double feature (and I was supposed to sleep through the second feature). Gone are the speakers that had a fan and heater for cool days. Now you use your car stereo for the movie. 2 features with up to 4 per car for $20 ($5 per person beyond the 4). Snack bar prices are not bad, but not of the 60's era. Of course, unlike a theater, you can bring your own snacks if you choose.

I have literally been coming here for most of my life, I'll be the first to admit that I have trailed off in the past few years, however. Due to streaming and such. However like so many before me during the pandemic have found so much classic fun and nostalgia by coming back to the magic that is the drive-in. My first movie here was the original Batman Michael Keaton movie. I am sad to say that the old playground has been removed so no before movie fun for the kids. You do use your radio for the sound during the movie, So make your car radio works or you at least bring a radio to listen in with. You can sit outside in front of your car At Your Own Risk, However. They do ask that you do not bring in outside food, However, I've never seen them do car checks to prevent you from doing so. That being said it is Not a super expensive ordeal to go to the drive-in. So def bring a few dollars and let's all go to the lobby and buy are selves a treat. Support the drive-in so it will be here for many many generations to come. Plus who doesn't love seeing one two and sometimes three movies a night. There no exceptions however on rain. If you're there and it rains you are out of luck so be sure to check the weather before you plan a trip there.

I absolutely recommend a visit. There are two screens, and every night they're open is a double-feature on both. Heads up: CASH ONLY! There is a building on-site that has a huge snack shack and lots of clean bathroom stalls. For more information, definitely follow their Facebook page where they post the movies and other info each week. On my summer vacations to Maine from Connecticut growing up, I loved to go here with my mom, brother, and sister in my mom's truck, back it in, and lay under the stars to watch a double-feature of the latest movies. We'd curl up in sleeping bags and pillows, and there was no greater family bonding time. Nowadays, I like to go with friends, especially those who have never been to a drive-in. It's such a unique experience for all to enjoy. Being outside enjoying movies really has a special feel. The previews and "commercial break" reel during intermission transport you through time. There's lots of fun little animations, old cartoons, and vintage ads. This drive-in makes the experience of being at a drive-in truly special and timeless. They also do "retro nights" in the summer where they do a double-feature (as usual) but of classic hits like Ferris Bueller, Back To The Future, The Princess Bride, Spaceballs, and more. It is a great time! I HIGHLY recommend this drive-in!

Maine is lucky to have several drive-ins. It's really all a matter of preference and geography (and…read moremaybe what movies are being offered; sometimes Saco really comes out with an impressive line-up!). But, I'll echo what a couple other folks have said already: PRO: $20 for a double feature for a whole carload of people is unbeatable! CON: We were in a Honda HRV (not a huge SUV) and tried to park in the third row where other vehicles our size were parked. A man came (literally) running after us to tell us we needed to move back a row because we were "too big." The fourth row was almost exclusively enormous pickup trucks. Fortunately, the ground in the fourth row had a bit of a bump, so we were able to position our vehicle on an incline and it offered fantastic views of the screen. Also, people weren't parking near the outdated microphone stands (which are spaced out for a reason), and instead we had someone park (their mega truck) so close to us that we couldn't even open our passenger door. Sooo... just a heads-up regarding where/how you park your vehicle.

Being from Texas, you only see movie drive-ins like Grease. WHO KNEW IT'S STILL A THING & WE LOVE…read moreIT! Saco Drive-In does a double feature presentation where you can come early to grab a spot via your vehicle, or you can come during the second half to watch the second movie. It is only $20/vehicle for TWO movies! You can bring your own food and drinks or you can grab something from the concession stands in the back. How it works: Park your car not too close, as you'll be struggling to see the movie from within. Turn off your engine by setting your car to ACC, as you'll have to use your radio to listen to the movie. The screen will provide you with the radio station to tune into. Turn off your headlights, and get ready to watch the movie! The awesome thing about drive-ins in Maine besides all the cost-efficient amenities, is you can enjoy your movie in the cool breeze, no humidity included. Don't forget the bug spray!

Sometimes described as Portland's "art house theatre", The Nickelodeon is a cozy six screen cinema…read morelocated in the heart of the Old Port. One of Portland's treasures, the Nick has been operating in the Old Port for over 40 years, and screens mainstream indie films as well as current blockbusters. Surrounded by the best restaurants and cafés Portland has to offer, it's super easy to park and combine a dinner and a movie. The garage next door is a sure thing if you're not into street parking, just know it's closed on Sundays. I probably see a dozen or so films a year at The Nick--I like to see all of the Academy Award nominated films, and this is the place to catch all of the best picture nominees. In the past few weeks I've seen I'm Still Here, Nickel Boys, and The Brutalist at the Nick. A great experience every time--I've walked right up to buy tickets with only one party or two parties in line, at most. The selection concessions offered is reasonable, and includes vegan options. Seats are comfortable, however, they aren't the giant recliners offered at the big corporate cineplexes. Also, you can buy tickets in advance, but you are not able to reserve a particular seat. This is a old school sort of cinema, and yes, the bathrooms are upstairs. They are clean, and you can say hello to Audrey Hepburn on the large Breakfast at Tiffany's poster on your way down the stairs. People really seem to enjoy $6 ticket Tuesdays. Otherwise, tickets are $10 for a matinee and $13 for an evening ticket, less for children and seniors. The Nickelodeon is one of my favorite places in Portland, one of the few institutions that's managed to stand the test of time, and I hope it is able to stay around for another 40 plus years.

Love the fact you can buy reserved seat tickets online - lessens the surprises than just walking…read morein and risk them potentially being sold out. Great popcorn and self serve "butter" area if it's something you are interested in. I was not. There were a few people that were partaking. Decent soda mix. The room we were in had plenty of room in the aisles. both the center aisle and the seated aisle. Even when reclined, you can get by someone to get to your seat. I was surprised to see how small lobby was. It gets crowded by concession stand pretty quickly. Despite the crowds, the staff at concessions was really nice. I took away a star, because the restrooms were horrible. They were dark and it appeared there was stuff smeared on the stall walls that looked like it wasn't 'new" - I gagged the whole time. Ugh Parking - easy and plentiful.

I noticed it a while back; this place was definitely loved hard over the past decade plus, so it's nice to see these upgrades! This is still my go-to theater: 1) I like the ease of choosing my seat and ordering my ticket online ahead of time. We've never had an issue or glitch with this. We just show up, use the little machine to scan our barcode, and it's as easy as that. 2) I like the annual Premium Popcorn Pail deal (even if the bucket is 20% smaller than it used to be). We always trade ours in at the end of the year/beginning of the new year for some kind of genuinely decent promotional deal. On average, throughout the year of using it it seems it costs us anywhere between $11 and $17 to get it filled and get one large soda (that we could get unlimited refills on if we could be bothered to leave the theater). 3) The "luxury power recliners" themselves are, for me at least, bigger and more comfortable than some of the couches I've owned. I crawl into my seat, hit the button, up go my feet, back goes my upper half, and I'm immersed in a cloud of comfort (without annoying anyone the way this same action does on a plane). And they're SPACIOUS: I can have my jacket in my seat next to me, my purse, my food... and there's still room. 4) I like that they show old movies!!! TAKE MY MONEY, I want to see Jaws here every summer. 5) FREE movie on your birthday (all you need is your ID to prove it's your big day)! Admittedly, during really busy times, it could use some additional TLC: 1) The soda area can get quite wet and sticky. 2) The bathroom trash bins are often overflowing (and actually, I think that's on you, future customer. Can you please just kind of push your towel down into the bin instead of laying it on top of it?). 3) Why are the bathroom stalls SMALLER than airplane bathrooms? I'm a small person, and I still have to contort my body to close the door. Still, it's comfortable and (mostly) clean and the staff working here can be really charming and goofy and I love that because THAT'S what a movie theater staff should be.

Some things to know about this theater: 1. The matinee…read moreprices - including their "bargain day" - are more expensive than other cinemas in Greater Portland. 2. You could walk into this theater and never talk to or see an employee. I bought my ticket online, walked directly into the building, and freely to/from my screen without ever needing to show any proof that I had even bought a ticket. Which, like, as an introvert was amazing. But I'm pretty sure I could have stayed there all day bopping in and out of whatever movie I wanted (this was true for a midday, weekday screening, anyway). 3. The bathrooms here are not super clean, but they are super small. 4. If you're seeing a movie that's quieter, artsy, or dialogue-driven and the theater adjacent to yours is showing an action, adventure, or horror movie... that's the movie you're going to hear and experience. The bass absolutely overtakes everything. 5. It doesn't actually get that dark in these theaters. Because this cinema has stadium seating (where the seats go up platform by platform instead of going down a gradual slope), the safety lighting on the wall sort is sort of always in your periphery. I wouldn't not come here, I just wouldn't intentionally choose coming here.
