    Beautiful tile work.

Smitty did a great job on our bathroom remodel! Good tile work and construction, managed the subcontractors--electric, plumbing, vanity cabinet and top, shower door--very well. He helped us transform our old, dated bathroom into something beautiful. We'll definitely consider him for our next project.

Finding a contractor, let alone one who is an excellent communicator and extremely detail oriented, is a hard thing to do in Bend. My husband and I really enjoyed working with James, owner of Smitty Construction. James helped us complete three renovation projects: our kitchen, a full bath and a powder room. From the beginning timeline to the final walk-through (and follow-up visits) James was a pleasure to work with. He transparently communicated pricing and change orders, extended his professional discounts, and was just plain nice to have around the house for almost two months. All of his subcontractors were a pleasure to have around and spoke very highly of James. One even mentioned how he's one of the few contractors in Bend they will work with because of his honesty and follow-through. If you want a contractor you can trust, James is definitely the guy for you. We can't recommend him highly enough!

I used James last year for a moderate sized renovation on a rental unit (left a review on Google maps back then with some photos) and was really pleased with how it turned out, so I called him up this year to help with a really big job renovating both sides of a duplex. The job included full demolition, a total of four bathrooms, LVP flooring, paint, electrical shenanigans, new cabinets, countertops, tile, and loads of plumbing. James is a general contractor, so there are parts of this that needed to be subcontracted out, but he does a really good job juggling his subcontractors. He gave me an optimistic timeline of two to three months, and had the project complete in two and a half. Given what a crack house it looked like in the beginning, it's honestly amazing he finished as quickly as he did. Last thing to note: this was a unique job for both of us as it involved bank financing, which required extra paperwork and periodic funds dispersed to Smitty from the bank. James was open to working through them as the payer, which I think shows his flexibility. I plan to use him again for the next project.

To meet someone in the trade that knew what they were doing, took pride in their work, and communicated up front any issues or decisions that had to be made was what we were looking for.  Erik and his crew took over our stalled addition; they fixed the existing floor framing, laid the sub-floor, raised the walls and trusses, sided the addition, sheeted the roof, and dry walled the interior.  They also installed all the new windows, hung the exterior doors, and installed the faux batten boards for the entire house exterior with meticulous detail. Erik took over a broken project and made it right for my family and that in itself says it all.  His crew hustled on the job site even when nobody was looking and showed up to work on time with a smile on their faces and looked you in the eye when communicating.  With an addition there is always surprises and Erik was upfront with what to expect and more importantly dealt with the unexpected professionally.  There was a lot of our project that my wife and I ended up doing ourselves, some planned and some not, but Erik was a great resource in pointing us in the right direction when we had questions.  Erik and his crew are a refreshing reminder of how people are supposed to be; hard working, take pride in their work, do what they say, and respect their customers as people just like them.

Erik made short work of our project, and was more than reasonably priced. We would definitely use…read moreFosters Framing again.

The first occurred about 3 years after we purchased, and they said "no warranty". 4 more leaks later, and I think it is workmanship that is the problem. And they don't stand behind their workmanship. How much to fix? So far, almost $200,000. Yes that is right, almost $200,000. And absolutely no contact from Pahlisch in response to our requests to discuss. So, be thoughtful and plan to go it alone if you have issues with your Pahlisch Home! Maybe, don't buy one!

I absolutely do not recommend Pahlisch homes.. We bought our Pahlisch home around September of…read more2024. We bought an empty plot to which our house would be built on. From the start, we had significant issues with the response time and lack of follow through of the staff in charge of our prior move in duties. We were the second to last faze built, however, the staff acted so incompetent that it seemed like they were still figuring things out. Our questions often went unanswered or, it took several attempts to get any answers at all. Most of the time the staff acted like we should just understand and most answers were a "just trust us" situation. Our home was completed around late January and we moved in on February 14th 2025. We began the final arrangements such as walk throughs and orientations about our new home prior to moving in. The condition of our home at our first walk through was AWFUL! Our house look absolutely terrible.. there was messy paint and SO much sloppy work and issues to fix! So, on our next walkthrough, where we do blue tape to indicate areas that need to be fixed/improved, they had clean it up a tad since we showed such dissatisfaction first time. However, the house still looked terrible. Now, one thing to I need to highlight is that they literally told us that the method was to stand SIX feet away and anything we see from that distance will be noted and fixed. We thought that was ridiculous so we took it upon ourselves to look closer. Upon doing that, we noticed how horrible the lack of attention to the details was made. We practically covered the walls with blue tape. We also noted significant issues that took more extensive measures to correct. These particular issues were set under contract so, they had to be signed off on by a supervisor after completed. One of these issues was a large patch of blue paint on our porch.. One other thing to note is we did not get to sign off on these issues.. they, once again told us to "just trust" they were fixed.. They told us that they would be fixed because if they weren't, Pahlisch would be breaking contract. So, once again, as mentioned, a "just trust us" situation. The week we moved in was the one time it snowed here. Snow was covering everything on our final walkthrough. In fact, it was quite dangerous for us to even get to the house. The circumstances were bad but we had no choice considering our move in date was coming up in days. Back to the blue paint on the porch, our porch was incased in snow so we could not see the actual area were the blue paint had been. We barely thought about it because a supervisor had signed off saying it was fixed. Well, days later, as we're moving in, we notice the blue paint splotch is still there. It hadn't even been touched, yet, it was signed off on as fixed by a SUPERVISOR!?! This is just one example of their dishonesty. The pictures i will provide are on the day we moved in. This is the condition of our 100% brand new home and how it was delivered to us. So none of this is wear and tear.. this is the finish product we received our brand new home in. Basically Pahlisch does a sloppy job, then wants you to tell them what's wrong over a ridiculous process where they literally tell you to evaluate things at a distance. Instead of building a proper home, they do the bare minimum and only fix what the owner happens to notice. They are clearly slapping up these homes at a pace that MANY issues arise because of the sloppy work. Now onto the serious stuff. Since we moved in on February 14th 2025 (it is currently July of the same year) we have had significant issues. Our master bath had the floor installed wrong, causing it to have to be ripped out and redone.. of course we had to notice this, instead of the actual worker installing the floor. They first tried to fix it with a band aid on a bullet hole type of fix. We told them that was unacceptable and after pushing them, they finally agreed to replace the floor. And that's not all.. our garage door needed to be replaced, then, later, the garage door touch pad had to be replaced. Our cable jacks were installed wrong so rewiring had to be done by the cable company. Our laundry floor had to be replaced entirely after 3 months, and, just two days ago our AC broke. We are currently having 80+ degree weather and we have no AC. We moved in FIVE MONTHS ago and our AC broke completely!?! Now, they aren't going to do ANYTHING for us for FIVE days. We have a maintenance plan that we pay for that gives us priority. However, we were told this only applies to heating concerns.. something we were not told before. The employee from Pahlisch was incredibly rude to us as well. He was angry and insulting.. he acted like we had broken our AC and we were a nuisance.. pretty ridiculous.. I absolutely do not recommend anyone put themselves through this or throw away money for such sloppy, unacceptable work.
