There is a nice walking path circling the lake with benches for relaxing and taking in the natural beauty. There is also a good mix of both sunny and shaded areas. Along side there is a picnic area with tables, and a play area for kids with swings etc... Just watch out for the geese that seem to live in the lake lol The pool was recently completely rebuilt and is very large, very clean and has areas for small children to enjoy. There is an indoor cafe that I've yet to try. There are discounted access fee for seniors.

What an amazing first experience! For years I've been wanting to try this place out and we finally…read moredid. We rented paddle boards for a great fee. They gave great information upon booking the reservation on the phone. Parking was very easy but depending what time you go I'd go sooner for parking! The women who checked us in was very sweet. She explained everything to us. She told us where to go and how to stay safe. The man who got us on the boards was equally as nice. He gave us a quick course on how to use the boards. The boards were much easy than I thought. I felt secure and got the hang of it pretty quickly. We paddled to an amazing area with a waterfall and past some beautiful houses and shoreline. I loved that you could kneel , lay , stand and just float in the water. It was definitely a fun day and I can't wait to do it again.

(The crew made all the difference) The boat is beautiful, clean, fully accommodating with stocked bathrooms (had sinks and soap!). The crew provided everything we needed, plus educated us and helped us every step of the way. We caught a ton of fish, which they offered to either descale or filet for us (and they did a wonderful, quick job of that). The highlight was the crew. Ilya and Matt were super accommodating from educating us and giving us tips on how to catch and reel the fish in, to placing bait on our hooks and unhooking each fish that my family of five caught (all while helping others as well). The captain even danced with my daughter (5 yrs old with special needs) when she came inside the cabin and was starting to get tired of being out by the side fishing. These men were such hard-working, honest gentlemen- it sealed the deal for us to plan our next trip with Osprey and every fishing charter in the future will be with them! (I'll add that our boat was not packed in without room to move like other charters, and we had many other people on our charter that were long-time fisherman that have chosen Osprey for years. That says a lot). If you're looking for a fishing charter in this area and you're either first-timers or have fishing experience- look no further. You won't be disappointed. *I'm not one to put personal photos of my family, but the crew even helped take photos of my kids' first catches and sent them to me privately. Having a young child with special needs limits our family adventures so everything they did that went above and beyond really was appreciated.

My husband tried to walk from Ocean Beach, but was thwarted on the bayside path by the gated private Port O Woods community. Apparently, he could have walked over to the beach and continued walking, but he didn't know this, so we picked him up by water taxi in Ocean Bay Park. After the forest, we walked on to Cherry Grove, and then I continued walking to the Pines, which was a lot of walking, but a good way to see the island.

If you come out to Fire Island you really need to make a day trip to the sunken forest. It's one of…read moreonly two marine forests in the country (the other is Sandy Hook NJ). The well-maintained and beautiful meandering wooden pathways allow you to see all of the beautiful plants and sea peaks of the Bayside as well as the ocean and the dunes. Don't go off the path as there are notices about poison ivy as well as ticks. It's recommended to wear bug lotion when you visit so you don't get bitten. We usually leave the sunken forest and visit Cherry Grove for drinks and food in town. Coming here on an overcast day is probably easier as there are sections that are out in the open and will be very hot. Make sure to bring your garbage with you and leave no trace behind while enjoying this national park treasure.

Seeking to ease her into a passion for paddling , I sought out a group experience on calm waters. Safe was the operative word. I saw a social media posting for a guided tour of the Connetquot charging a small fee for dropping in your own vessel. They run this tour weekend days. Until November. There was a group of about 17, some with their own kayaks or SUPs, others rented from the business. Rob provided great direction, was informative , and a genial host. Lisa and I probably had time during the 2 hours to have small conversations with everyone in the group. The canals and river were so easy to navigate, scenic, tranquil, even with some light powerboat traffic. Not an abundance of wildlife but we had a great close encounter with a great blue heron. We are probably comfortable doing this without guidance now, but might choose to join up again for the group experience! Check it out while the weather is fine and the waters are warm! P.S. - I fell out of the boat before we even launched. Looked the fool in front of all but that just started the day off with laughter.

I had a very disappointing experience with Laura Lee Charter on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The…read morebiggest issue was that we were misled about where we would be fishing. Instead of fishing in the advertised area, we spent nearly two hours traveling out into the open ocean. The conditions were extremely rough, and the boat rocked so much that many passengers became seasick. At certain points, the rocking was so severe that people couldn't safely walk around the boat, and several passengers were unable to fish at all because of the conditions. After the long ride, the first fishing spot was a complete waste of time. No one was catching fish because the rough seas caused everyone's lines to drift into each other, resulting in constant tangles instead of fishing. Eventually, the captain moved to another location, but by then a large portion of the trip had already been spent traveling. To make matters worse, fishing ended around 11:15 p.m., even though the trip was supposed to end at 12:00 am. We didn't get back to the dock until about 1:30 am., meaning we spent far more time traveling than actually fishing. Many passengers complained that the amount of fishing time didn't come close to justifying the long ride offshore. Overall, the trip was misleading, poorly managed, and not worth the money. The overall experience left many passengers disappointed, and it was obvious from the conversations on board that we weren't the only ones who felt the trip fell well short of expectations. A fishing charter should prioritize giving customers time to fish, not spending hours traveling into rough open water where many people couldn't even participate. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Laura Lee Charter.

This park is supposedly renowned for its biking trails. That may be, but we were there for camping…read more It's a small county park that charges admission unless you have a green key. There's a large, open area with at least 3 restroom facilities that I could see and a shower. This open area is ringed by woods and inside the woods, kind of well-concealed, there are several numbered drive-in camping areas, suitable for about 30 people. The private camping areas are nice and flat, and there is open access to the woods behind. There is also a playground and several open fields to play kickball or other sports and a picnic pavilion with bbq setups. Cons: loads and loads of ticks. I mean, you need to prepare for ticks if you're going camping in the woods but the amount of ticks we encountered here was crazy. And they allow dogs! They really need to spray here, one kid in our group had 15 ticks on him and his sister had 13. Good news is there were no mosquitoes and very few ants and spiders. There are no outlets for electricity at the campsite nor individual water pumps/spigots, as there are at many other camping areas. Bring your remote charging blocks and be prepared to haul buckets from the bathrooms to your campsite. Also the bathrooms needed attention when we got there, however by day two they had cleaned them up. And even though it seems remote there, we heard neighbors (not inside the park) setting off firecrackers as well as a local fire department siren. Overall would probably return as it's a nice spot to let the kids play or hike. But they've got to do something about the ticks!!
