The good is that kids skate and have fun and it's mostly run by nice people however today at 7:30 it was 80° and I asked somebody behind a very thick pane of glass why the air-conditioning isn't on she said what air? This is the town run building and then I could feel the breeze from inside her a little office. It's going to be 97° and they will be bringing campers inside to get them out of the heat outside and it will be just hot inside . They absolutely have an ability to cool the building down otherwise they would have a melted ice rink Lol Bethpage Rinx has air conditioning all summer . A classic. Normal ice skating rink in suburbia. As a teen, we would all go to "Friday Night Skate" public skate. Food is basic, but there are plentyyyy of vending machines. You can get things from new laces to Gatorade. I think there might be a claw game also. A bunch of benches there to change. We used to leave our bag or sweatshirts there on busy days They have adjusted well to COVID-19 and have temperature checks and a form at entry. I appreciate that as many places do not so temperature checks at all. The gentleman working at the on-site skate shop was very friendly and helped a lot. He sized my foot and gave me 3 boots to try on. Turns out I have a wide foot according to the Reidell sizing guide and I never knew. He didn't put pressure on me to purchase immediately, but I will be back! They also sell some apparel which is cute. read more

I have been playing hockey at the Rinx for about 20 years. The rink is well maintained with two ice surfaces. 4 locker rooms are available per rink. It is always clean and everything is in working order (showers, toliets) compared to some other rinks. They have a proshop, skate sharpener and a concession stand. The skate sharpeners have changed over the years but for the most part they have been consistently good. No complaints. read more

Worse skating experience I ever had. Went with a group of friends for their rock and roll skate night from 8:15-10pm. I was expecting great music and of course great skating. However, this is not what I got. Let's begin with the skates. The ones I received fit but they were wobbly and unsturdy on my feet therefore making it difficult for me to feel confident skating. As I skated I had difficulty moving because of this issue. Then my feet started to hurt. The ice here sucks! There were patches of snow and it wasn't smooth at all. Also, they try to make this seem like it's this fun rock and roll music skate night when I barely heard any music. It was so low you wouldn't even have guessed anything was playing. Then at one point no music at all!!! There were also wayyy too many people on the damn ice for us to move around. Overrated prices as well, $19.50pp? Such a waste of time and money. Public skates, skate rentals, hockey clinics are all cost effective compare to other rinks in the area. Great facility, clean and has a large area for people to sit and wait. Food court is decently price with a good selection of food. Vending machine and arcade games to keep the kids busy too. read more

Such a nice place. First time ice skating in LI since I moved here. Open skate is $10 and rentals in $7. Once again I didn't fall. Yes! To never falling in ice skating...but for quad skating in derby I fall plenty. On a Sunday I arrive at 11 and it was a decent amount of people there. But once noon hits a lot of people started to show up. So for anyone who wants more space to skate around then I prefer you to go earlier. Minus a star because the picture I posted. I packed near the entrance sign thinking hey I got great parking space near the entrance. So I walked up to the entrance and saw two signs on the door starting the entrance is in the other side. WTF !! So I ended up parking far from the entrance...not too far but it's cold out so far enough being out in the cold. False sign eek! Take it down. read more

I'll start off by saying that this place is great: clean, efficient, inexpensive (compared to other places out East) and fun. While we're curious about the Port Jeff Rinx, this place was perfect for a beginner skater (daughter) just getting her legs and a Dad (me) putting on skates for the first time in a little less than a decade. Thank God for muscle memory. It's not ritzy, it's not Rock Plaza, there are no frills and overall, it's what you'd expect in a Long Island skate rink. The food is mostly fried ballpark grub and smells glorious; I'd likely give it another star if they served beer ;) Lastly, I'd like to comment on the one-star reviews of this place. Sure the ice could be Zamboni'd/swept a bit more; sure the "monitors" could do a better job of policing the hockey groms weaving in and out of the crowds but that's what you get at a public ice skating rink. I'm not sure you would get a better experience anywhere else. Complaints about the rental skates aside (come on, they're rentals for a reason!), do you expect the crowd to pander to you because you're a beginner? Do you want everyone to stop so you and your uncomfortable rental skates (BTW, there is no such thing as "comfy rental skates") have a chance to get better acclimated? On a busy Sunday, there was ample room on the sides to practice. We're going back! read more

Not a bad place at all to take the kids for a few hours on a weekend. Winter or summer. It is open all year around. They rent skate and have a food court. This is a place to just get the ice with a friend or your family. It is not a place to skate fast and test yourself or you limits. Way too many people for that. Good fun. read more

Two of my sons (now 4 and 14) have been attending skating lessons here for much of the last year. Their visits have become a highlight of our week. Our little one will likely move on to their hockey program, while our 2-year-old girl cannot wait to study figure skating there after seeing the impressive feats of students in the figure skating classes. (Multiple classes are on the ice at the same time, so students regularly get to see what they are aspiring to/what is possible.) Both boys look forward to their lessons every week. They can already skate circles around me (a halfway decent skater), including skating backwards, etc. Participation in the skating program also entitles students to free ice time during the week - a perk we plan to take advantage of in the months to come. Definitely worth the time and the money for a great environment and experience. The rink also has an on-site skate shop where they were glad to advise us on a skate purchase and provide affordable skate sharpening (free, too, with purchase of new skates). read more

The Rinx Was invited out with by friends with my girlfriend accompany me. I know how to roller blade so i heard its easier to know how to ice skate. Was nervous but picked up on it. One problem. The ice was all hacked up and over packed with people. Everytime you get going you almost fall or trip. Mind you also the shoes are uncomfortable. Girlfriend had all shoes and they were killing her. The new shoes i had were cramping my legs up every time i used momentum to push off. I found myself in pain and also hitting a patch in the ice. So her and i left the ice area to the lobby. A family were speaking to each other how bad the ice is. So we know its not just us. You would think they would take a time to buff the ice ul before the big crowed comes in. Not the case. Over priced for one even for skates. I wouldn't recommend it here. Also people the guards dont tell people to watch out for others. Let young kids speed n bump into others. The ice is jacked up. And skates kill your feet also can give you leg pain. Wouldn't come here again. Horrible! read more

Nice facility, but poorly run for public skating. Hockey clinic taking up 1/4 of the ice, and figure skating lessons taking up the entire center of the ice. There is no way either of those should be going on during a public skating session. Dangerous. To boot, there were hockey coaches giving aggressive hockey drills in what little space was left for the public. I'm sure the insurance certificate for the facility would be revoked if the insurance company were to make a surprise visit. I felt unsafe with my 3 kids, and feel ripped off paying $50 to get in the door. We left after less than an hour... read more

Extremely disappointed with the new "rules" currently enforced by management. My son learned to skate here and has been taking private lessons for (5) years wearing FULL PROTECTIVE GEAR. Just recently, a rule has been set stating no gear or limited protective gear allowed for private lessons after 1:00pm due to public skating sessions. Meanwhile, public skaters are allowed to wear full protective gear as they wish. Doesn't make sense me. I guess we will be heading to Superior or Dix Hills for one on one lessons moving forward. read more

I am a parent of three children. My older boys learned how to skate and play hockey at the Rinx. The Learn to Skate and Play Hockey programs are fantastic. Both of my boys have become excellent hockey players thanks to the dedication of the Rinx staff. My daughter attended the Rinx Preschool were she would receive ice skating lessons once a week. She developed a love of skating thanks to the preschool. Since graduating the preschool, she has continued lessons at the Rinx and has participated in the Holiday Skating Show. We come at least once a week to skate during open skating times where she loves to skate with all her skating buddies. I would highly recommend the Rinx to everyone that is interested in hockey or ice skating!! read more

Nice facility, the best part was the skate rentals...nice hockey skates for the men and boys, and supportive figure skates for the girls and women. Prices are a bit much, $65 for 2 adults and 2 kids. It was packed! I mean too packed...it was like an obstacle course, with wiped out people as the cones. Some skaters were weaving like it was a hockey game....nobody said anything...good job staff! I could care less if I was alone, I've played hockey growing up...but I was too busy shielding my 11 year old cousin to enjoy myself. I'll be back with hopes that this day was a fluke. read more

I have been working for The Rinx for over 26 years... The Rinx is home to me and my son. Some may feel this is biased review, but it is very sincere. I have been to numerous amounts of ice rink throughout my whole skating life. There is no other like the Rinx! I love The Rinx it is safe ,clean and fun to skate , but most of all is fill with the most amazing, genuine staff you will ever meet. All the people I work with truly love being a part of the Rinx team and are passionate about their jobs, including myself. Many Years and many faces have passed by and still I hear nothing but positive reviews and wonderful experiences families have had at the Rinx. Meeting people outside the rink, when I say I work for The Rinx strangers tell me about the great times they have had at the rink. I am out in the public sessions everyday, and have my son skating also during public sessions. I know it is our mission to keep all of clients safe and happy. Great place to learn to skate. Both my kids have gone here for 2 years, the group lessons are cheap and give you free skating during normal session times. For the younger kids they take it slow and with great care. For older kids the process is quicker. I don't skate but enjoy going every week and watching the smiles on my kids face as they learn new skills read more

Recently had my daughters birthday here. As for the skating it was great, the girls had a great time and enjoyed themselves. My gripe is with our "party planner" at this place. Upon arrival Victoria was assigned to my party. I was expecting someone to help and ask if we needed anything and at the very least let me know she would be around if I needed anything. On 3 separate occasions during this 2 hour party I had to ask the guy at the Time Out Cafe to find her. Literally the only thing Victoria did was wheel out the food from the back. It was me and a friend who had to pour drinks and hand out pizza slices to the girls. It was my assumptions that Victoria's job was to do this . Later, she wheeled out the cake, left it on the cart and didn't even put the cake in front of the birthday girl. I had to take the lighter from Victoria and light the candles myself!! As I was lighting the candles, i turned and saw Victoria literally just sitting there on the bench next to me! What kind of service is this?? I also brought cookies which 15 minutes later, Victoria brings out and says " Sorry, I forgot about these". Overall the party was good ( skating wise) but someone needs to tell these kids who are assigned to parties that their job is to be attentive. If her only job was to wheel out the food from the back, I could have done this myself. read more

Great place for hockey. OK place for public skating. The weekend sessions start at 11 and half the rink is closed for private sessions. It's usually packed and hard to do any real skating. The ice is pretty bad by 11:30. I go there cause it's close and my daughter is just getting started with hockey but there are much better places. read more

The Rinx is a place where families can come to try to have a good time. Their skates are kept in a state of semi-dullness, which is better for beginners. If you are expecting super sharp skates, don't expect them to be rental skates, where they are being used by hundreds of people. They do not do ice cuts as often as is preferred, but that is also for good reason. Many beginners are better off with slightly chopped ice, because the slickness of fresh ice IS dangerous. Winter is their most busy season. Expecting perfect ice and skates is ridiculous, as there are so many people. If you are going over winter break expecting perfect ice, you have your expectations way too high. The staff are trying their best to be as polite as possible to everyone. It is simple. Skate the right way, at a calm pace, and show them your wristbands. If there are hockey players racing around, it is likely because they are in a lesson. That is not the staffs fault, and employees can't tell hockey players to stop speeding around when they are in a lesson. The staff on ice are not treated kindly by many patrons at all, in fact, many of the staff are screamed at over things beyond their control. The Rink attendants are teenagers following the orders of management. They are underpaid and overworked. The management is fine, again, they try their best. There is one manager who is awful and treats the rink attendants like dirt. Politeness is hard to come by with other patrons though. Many treat the rink and it's staff as though the place is a garbage can, and leave their trash everywhere, and pick fights with the teenagers. The staff cleans up after everyone, naturally. The facility is overall clean. Patrons are often rude to each other and rude to staff. It is a very uppity area. The ice, aside from middle of the season public sessions, is actually some of the best ice on long island. The two rinks are maintained amazingly. While there are some pitfalls to this place, overall it is a great place to skate. If you don't want "a terrible skating experience", don't come in the dead of winter... no rink will be perfect at those times!!!! read more

Its ok. I have been to other rinks both on long island and out of state and this one is all right. We are figure skaters and this rink is geared towards hockey skaters more than it is geared towards figure skaters. The store staff is more knowledgeable in hockey. Do not go here if you need figure skates or have any questions on figure skates. The coaching staff is good. There are a few bad apples so make sure you do your research before taking on a coach. If it is not the correct fit then move on to a different coach. The snack bar is one of the best around however. The price to skate is average. It is along par with all other rinks. Overall it is a good rink. Great to go and skate around on a Friday night. read more
