Inconsistent leagues, rink conditions are not good, and expensive. Only thing going for it is the location.

I am strictly reviewing the event hosted on a monthly basis here and not so much the venue or food. Roller derby rules!!!!! Even if it is flat track. No bank tracks here in the East Coast. :( So far this year, the Long Island Roller Rebels A team and Betty Bruisers B team had the men's New York Shock Exchange open for them. So yeah a double header for (drum roll)... 10 bucks!!!! With doors opening @ 6. Bout starting @ 6:30 pm. It goes on till about 10:30pm after intermissions and such. Throughout the night, you cheer, wince, ring cow bells (gots one me self) and wait on line at the women's bathroom. There is always entertainment. Irish Dancers. Music band Penguin Revolution, really good music. Most recently, the Stony Brook Belly Dancing Team. Hubba Hubba. You can check out their schedule/ buy tickets or even try out at http://www.longislandrollerrebels.com/ BYOC(hair). It's first come first serve to get the best seats around the track. Also get there early for prime parking spots. The parking lot cannot accommodate all the cars and it spills over to other business lots and street. Bring Cash! There is refreshments. Typical stadium food like pizza, hot dogs, pretzels, fries, chicken fingers, sandwiches and drinks. Local vendors like Long Ireland Brewery setups ups stand there. Stylish jewelry booth. Team merchandise is available of the home teams. 50/50 fundraiser drawing. It helps find the girls since they don't get paid to play. The pot is always nice ranging from 300 to 400 bucks. It's a monthly guilty pleasure to show support for the girls and the sport. See you behind the blue line! read more

What did I do this weekend? Why, thanks for asking - I went to Skate Safe in Bethpage to watch one of my oldest friends knock down chics twice her size on skates. I was so impressed by these girls - theyre atheletic, pretty, strong, fast, and effn funny. My lil Carnage Electra is a rock star - and anywhere I can knock back Long Ireland beers in a LIRR cup for 3 beans - giddiup yo. Okay so the skating rink, whatever, I don't know anything about roller skating, roller skating rinks, score boards, bleachers, blah blah blah but this was FUN. read more

I used to come here once a month with my husband for roller derby. I would take photos of the girls playing and let the team use the photographs and he would take video. We stopped attending the events on a regular basis, now we'll go once in awhile but I used to enjoy coming to Skate Safe for these events. The concession stand actually served pretty good coffee so that's a definite plus. There's plenty of room for vendors to set up merch tables, for the girls to have a changing space, for a live band to sometimes play, although when many people are in attendance it can get crowded. It's actually pretty cheap to come to a derby event, it's worth it for a good night's entertainment. There's two rinks here which seem like they are of decent skating size. Definitely a cool place to be especially during roller derby. read more

Extremely upset with this business. I play in an adult hockey league. We're required to pay a fixed price for entry. Majority of my teammates paid their share but when a few were late on payment, skate safe canceled our season. No refund, nothing!!! I may even write to the representative in our district on the matter. Terrible customer service read more

This place is a great roller hockey venue. If you want your kid to start learning how to skate, they have classes for that. I took them when i was younger, and they really help! They also provide rec leagues for all ages. The refs are very experienced as well. The actual place itself is very nice with two polished rinks. They have concession stands and games also. The people who work there are all very nice and helpful. They have a shop also where you can buy equipment and clothes. Go to skatesafe!!! read more

This place has All Girl Roller Derby once a month!!! Dont miss it. There is a Long Island Roller Derby league, the Long Island Roller Rebels as well as many roller hockey leagues that call this place home. The staff is friendly and we always have a great time when we go to a bout there! read more

I've played hockey in an adult league here for 1 season. If you're looking for good service and knowledgeable refs, stay as far away from this place as possible. When playing in a late night game, I was blatantly hauled down by a defender to save a breakaway. When no call was made, I asked "why?" and the refs exact words were "it's too late, bro. I wanna go home." And recently, myself and a few teammates paid a deposit to play during the upcoming season. When the team wasn't able to play, we informed them well in advance of the season start date. No refund was given. When I argued my point, I was told at the front desk to "get more reliable friends." This place is an awful excuse for a business. Do not send your money here. read more
