I signed up for personal training sessions with Roy on Tuesday, 7/2/19. My first day of training…read morewas on Wednesday, 7/3/19. I purchased a silver package for 2 trainings sessions a week at the rate of $445.00 a month. As a commitment to myself, I signed up for AUTOPAY on my credit card with payment due on the first of the month. On Thursday, 8/8/19, I notified Roy that the monthly payment wasn't showing on my credit card. He said it must have been a glitch in his system, and he thanked me for my honesty. It was the right and respectful thing to do. Too bad he doesn't want to return that same level of respect to me. I signed the contract understanding I could "terminate the relationship at any time and for any reason with no obligation due to the client" (myself) "beyond a freeze or transfer of any unused sessions." From 7/2/19-10/28/19, I had 5 unused sessions: Monday, 9/30/19 (cancelled by Roy for his own personal reasons), Wednesday, 10/2/19, Wednesday, 10/9/19 (cancelled by Roy for his own personal reasons), Wednesday, 10/16/19, and Wednesday, 10/30/19. On Monday, 10/28/19, I advised Roy that I would be in Florida for 2 weeks in November and would only be able to attend possibly 3 classes for the month. I also advised that I would be back in Florida for 2 weeks in December and for personal reasons, I would not be coming at all in December. I requested the AUTOPAY to be suspended. He suggested (not demanded as he accused me of saying) that I continue my workouts in December and to get "a head start on the New Year." I explained to him, that wouldn't make sense to me as I already had 5 unused days, and I would never be able to use these extra days. I left my session on 10/28/19 very disappointed with his response. My next scheduled appointment was Monday 11/4/19. On Friday, 11/1/19, I texted him to say I would not be coming in for training for the month of November and December and to remove me from AUTOPAY. I was billed through AUTOPAY on 11/1/19 for $445.00. Roy stated that his credit card company requires 30 day notice to suspend AUTOPAY, which is NOT indicated in the contract. Bottom line, DON'T DO AUTOPAY. I'm out the $445.00 for the month of November and $278.00 for the 5 unused days. I understand the no refund policy of the $278.00 for the unused sessions, but to keep the $445.00 for November, I feel, is wrong. I will never return to Fitness 4 You or recommend this facility to anyone else.

"Andy" does not work at NYSC, but you wouldn't know that if you saw him at the gym. He hangs out at the "Fitness Help" station and approaches everyone in the middle of their work outs, more often than not to insult, intimidate, or police their behavior. This morning I was in the middle of my squat set, and he chastised me to "put the weights back on the rack." In the middle of my set. I was confused and asked if he worked there. He said no. I watched him circumnavigate the gym floor over the next hour, interrupting and policing others' work outs. When I said something to the man at the front desk, he told me "yeah that's Andy, he's been coming here for years." I was perplexed as to why the staff was allowing this man to masquerade as a NYSC employee and badger their paying customers. NYSC corporate should be aware that this man is harassing their members. I am cancelling my membership to ALL NYSC/BSC/WSC locations and am telling my friends to do the same. I will not return so long as "Andy" is at the gym policing everyone's workouts.

What a crappy gym. I should have stuck with LA fitness. At least they only email me and with a good offer. But I'm not going back for a few years. I do not wish to hear from your gym again. Stop the spamming!

LA Fitness - All broken equipment with no fix in sight

I'd like to update this review as of Feb 2026. Awful!!!! 2 adjacent LA fitness centers closed. Gym…read moreis mobbed no matter what time of day or night. The circuit machines are not fixed such as hamstring and back machines. Most circuit machines tension is broken and therefore movement is very repeatedly jolted through the set causing back issues. And 3/4 of the treadmills are out of service. As well as bikes elliptical and stair masters. It's bad enough the wait time due to the enormous crowds but to have to wait bc of broken equipment no one cares or tries to fix is insane. Treadmills are ancient as well. You'd think they would just bring in new equipment. It's disturbing watching them sell the gym to potential customers . It's like selling a faulty car but not stating it. Just awful. Original review: If zero was an option that would be it. This gym has the bones to be an amazing gym. However multiple machines do not work with signs of being repaired for years ... stairmaster bikes treadmills elliptical. The circuit weight machines often jerk in movement and tension is off and missing levers to change weight. Most recently there are NO pins in 80% of machines probably more. To the point customers are buying their own pins or customers are using makeshift pins jamming up the equipment which is then unusable. Staff do not care. When they are touring new perspective clients they aren't saying the machines with signs have had these signs for months or years with no repairs. Corporate doesn't care bc if they did they'd come out and help get the gym up and running appropriately. The staff are kids and although I feel bad they are the sounding board they are representing this gym. People are buying pins on Amazon overnight yet the facility can't resolve the issue. Everyday I hope to walk in and see the issues resolved; thinking how can this even be real but to my disappointment no progress. Customers are walking around disgruntled and frustrated searching for pins and unable to complete workouts. With Centereach location recently closing you'd think they can get pins from there and swap out for working equipment. Bathrooms are outdated dirty and not cleaned regularly. LA fitness needs management who take pride in their facility. In addition they are less then a mile from DICKS where they can get pins even if it's temporary. Now they offer pins at the desk "for collateral" and these pins don't fit in all machines. This gym is surrounded by other gyms within a mile which are way less money and in working order.
