My baby brother Liam has been going here for a couple months and my mom and I love it! He has so much pent up energy that he needs to release and this is the perfect place to do so. The instructors are so understanding with kids! Almost every time we go out he says "are we going to my martial arts class?!" And he is sad when we tell him not we are not lol even at 9 o'clock at night he comes up to us and tells me to "watch this!" And he demonstrates what he learned in his classes.. he even met a lot of new friends here during his classes! read more

Innovative Martial Arts - Liam's first time in class and he couldn't stop smiling lol - Martial Arts Near Me - Commack, New York

My two boys have been going here for about 4 months now and we couldn't be happier with their progress. All of the instructors are extremely welcoming and really helped them both break out of their shells and become more confident and comfortable in each class. All of the drills in class, the words of the month, daily habits charts, and game incentives really keep them both focused and excited to keep attending. I would absolutely recommend it here! Keep up the good work! read more

My son just started not too long ago and he loves it. He was timid at first but all the instructors were so nice, welcoming and patient with him until he got warmed up. I really appreciated their patience and individual attendance to my child when needed. Class times are also great for working parents. read more

Taking self defense classes here at Krav Maga Defiance has been such a life changing experience. All the coaches are knowledgeable, personable and friendly. I have lost 50 pounds doing something I love while also learning life saving self defense techniques. The knowledge I'be gained here and the people I've met along the way is priceless. Thank you for being my "happy place!" read more

So. I'm giving it a 2 because I LOVE most of the coaches. They were just amazing on multiple levels. Sensei George, Sebastian, and Christian were so great for self esteem and had amazing energy and just did a great job in general all around with their classes every time. An ongoing issue however is the fact that they won't stop pulling my payments or refund the money they have pulled already even knowing we have over 27 sessions owed to us already. My son got sick and we had issues that they were fully aware of (we have documentation) showing they knew this was a situation meaning the cancellation policy was null and void (be careful they will throw this in your face even if your child is ill so read it and understand it !) anyway. They kept pulling funds and states that the cancellation policy reflects why. We already have over 3 full months of owed sessions in addition to the 3 months they have additionally pulled. (They refunded 1 of these months - October) but refuse to do the right thing and refund the rest. Our other close friends also had this problem and I also just read on their reviews that it's a persistent issue. I'm a teacher in the community and feel that this is unacceptable and should be remedied easily rather than me having to go to extremes. It's the holiday season and pulling over $211 again is not ok. At this point we have over $1000 in sessions owed to us and do not plan on going back due to management and owner concerns. Again, be sure to read all the terms and policies so you don't get tricked and understand. I've finally had to contact my credit card company after months of argument and go that route which I prefer not to. read more

My son just turned 4 so I was a little hesitant to start him this young. He had a 1:1 lesson before joining the whole group which definitely helped! The entire staff has been so patient, helpful, and welcoming! I'm thankful my son loves coming to class! read more

Love this place, how they motivate and engage kids. My daughter loves coming to classes

We came here after a not so great experience at another place. My son (3 years old) was very hesitant about giving it another shot but now he LOVES it. The classes and instructors here are very empowering, encouraging and uplifting. It's age appropriate and not overwhelming. He looks forward to going and it helps us with instilling good behavior at home (love the 'Daily Habits Chart'). Also, all of the parents I have met here have been so incredibly nice which means Mommy likes going too :) The environment is clean and accommodating, the music is fun and the seating is comfortable which is super helpful when you also have a 9 month old. I would definitely recommend them! read more

I am very happy here. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and it is a really great program. Krav Maga is no nonsense self defense and martial arts. In the beginning of class there is a fifteen minute work out session that gets you ready and it is very good for conditioning for those of us who can't motivate ourselves to exercise on our own. The school offers also extracurricular activities such as monthly special events such as paintball, softball, kickball, etc I always feel better at the end of class having got a good work out learning new techniques and pushing myself. David, Bendon and the two Mikes are great instructors and you will learn a lot from them, and they are are really cool guys who you'll love to get to know. read more

My son has been taking classes here for 3 years. It's really helped with his focus and self confidence. And those parents night out events are awesome. read more

The instructors are extremely patient and helpful to the students. They are helping build confidence and assisting with structured activities during each class. Highly recommend especially for younger kids! read more

Terribly run business. Have to jump through hoops and play their little games to get out of the agreement. Even after you do all of that, they continue to charge your credit card and Mike continues to make up different stories about how to discontinue classes. He might know martial arts, but he has no idea how to run a business or treat customers. Stay away unless you want to end up in small claims court. My daughter didn't like the disorganized classes that were offered at inconvenient times/days anyway. read more

Great combination of physical workout, self-defense, discipline and fun!

If you're looking for a great workout with great instructors, then this is the place! I like to go to the gym but I wanted to switch up my routine so I tried kickboxing. This workout blew my gym routine out of the water! It was amazing! I really felt a change in my body & that I was going in the right direction with my exercise/workout goals. I HIGHLY recommend taking classes here! You really don't even need the gym after experiencing this place. You truly get a full body workout! They also have more than just kickboxing. It has a cool design, atmosphere and like I mentioned before, all the instructors are amazing. Check it out!! read more

This martial arts place has taught me many things. It thought me respect, how to be a great leader, and how to be a great person. I have been much more confident in mysef, and I have been overall much happier after going here. I made many friends, and learned how to defend myself after going here. It also helped me exercise. This is an overall great place, and I definitely enjoyed coming here. I enjoyed coming here, seeing my friends, and having fun. The teachers are great, and they are so friendly. If you make a mistake, they will not yell at you. They will correct you, and give constructive feedback to improve your performance. Everyone there was so kind, and very helpful so that I could become better at karate. This is a great studio, and I would give this 6 stars if I could. 10/10 Would recommend to anyone who would like to make new friends, get some exercise, or just learn karate. read more

I studied Krav Maga for about 3 years at another school. .. it was good, and I fell in love with the techniques. I wasn't very fond of the personalities running the show tho. Now I found Innovative in Commack. ....WOW! Really. ..wow... some of the coolest people you'd ever want to meet. Very knowledgeable, very tough and most importantly. ... truly dedicated to you achieving your goals. I really can't say enough how fortunate I feel to have found this spot. Krav Maga is ... by wide margins .... the very best fighting form in the world... and if you're lucky enough to live anywhere close to Innovative, you should go down... sign up. ..join the family. read more

Horrible experience I took my son there and paid for the trail he did it 5 weeks and hated it, so over the summer he didn't go and I cancelled it, after the last visit in June I was still being charged $165 every month after I cancelled !!! We're now in September and I got charged $165 since June and my son never went I called the studio to try and work my his out with the owner before going this route and mike singer said no I can't do anything it's a 60 days opt out which means I will still get charged 60 days after u cancel I was like what?!?!!! That's stealing!!!!!!! I told him I didn't have that kind of money to spend the man had no compassion an basically didnt do anything ...I messaged him on Facebook and said I'm giving him 24 hours to make this right and of course nothing so now I won't stop until everyone knows they steal after u cancel u shouldn't be charged anymore and I don't have any paperwork showing that's their policy that I signed I'm taking this to Small Claims court and I won't stop unreasonable, young and you have no clue how to deal with the community if this is how u treat people Mike u said it's a month to month u lied 60 days is Rediculous it's stealing and I won't stop here until you be a business owner and do what's right I want my money read more

Chris, Mike, and the whole staff at Innovative Martial Arts in Commack have been amazing to work with. They all went above and beyond my expectations way before we even enrolled our boys in their program. They are professional and run an incredible product that fit exactly what we were looking for in regards to self control, self discipline, and respect. You instantly feel welcomed the second you walk in the door. Everyone knew my children right away and made them feel comfortable, but the communication is what really won is over! My children received welcome post cards in the mail, a picture and postcard from their first day (where they earned their white belt), and so much more! You definitely want to check this facility out! Great prices, great program, amazing extras, professional staff, great space! I could go on and on.... tell them I sent you! read more

I am so happy and please with this Dojo. I started my 7 yr old there last week. The staff is really knowledgeable with teaching karate. They have answered all my questions I've had. The staff is so friendly and eager to help new students learn karate. My son has a blast everytime he goes and can't wait for the next class. The Dojo is very clean. You will be happy joining here. read more

Innovative Martial Arts is an amazing place for your kids to be! Each and every staff member makes sure that each child who attends class is taken care of. Once you walk through the door, they shower you with a friendly welcome and you instantly feel comfortable. The facility itself is as sanitary as it gets, and that's one of the many things that the parents love about the studio. The kids enjoy the classes and have a great time working together! read more

Be very careful. They don't let you cancel. If something comes up, they dont care. They will enforce you to continue for 60 days and still charge you, sometimes even long after that! They take your payment info and that's it. They wont work with you or do anything but maybe give credit for more classes even if you are not returning. Useless credit just to not let go of your money. They act like they acre but it's pure business. read more

Great spot for those interested in starting kickboxing as a new fitness routine for the new year. The studio is always clean and they just renovated. The guys running it are professional and friendly. Your first class they give you a private session to improve your form. The people in the class are encouraging. The last part of class is partner work, where you do a different exercises with someone in class. Great way to meet someone new. It is a non intimidating gym with lots of support. It's a challenging workout but I leave feeling good about myself. I'm starting to see results. read more

As an experienced martial arts practitioner, I am familiar with most requirements and expectations and wanting to get back in shape I visited IMA on a random day when no classes were in session, I was greeted with warmth and friendliness and scheduled my no pressure first class. One on One for the first group class was the standard and David was awesome!!! I signed for the gold package that evening which allows for more than 2/wk which was my desire. All the other classes are fantastic, these is not a slow moving classes your cardio will be tested. However if you need to slow it down or take a break as you build up, this is not shamed. But your internal motivation will push you forward. The students are great as are all the instructors. I highly recommend IMA if you are interested in a friendly and intense workout. If you've never tried Krav Maga, this is a great place to give it a try and gain skills as well as increasing your cardio stamina. Great dojo and fun while learning. read more

As the parent of two young kids, our life revolves around them. You always want the best for them and that is why for the last five years my kids have been enrolled at Innovative Martial Arts. They have learned confidence, self assurance, discipline, hard work and self defense. This has carried on to their school work and other sports. We can never thank Mike S. And his staff enough for all they have done for our kids. If you care for your children, do not waste your time searching for any other martial art schools. Take them to Innovative and we guarantee that when you watch your kids several months or years down the road you will feel like we do. They are AWESOME !!!!! read more

I have to say this place is more than just a school, it's a family. Sensei Chris, Mike and Danny truly love what they do and are constant motivators in every aspect. I've been training since they opened and in a few months time I have seen soo much improvement in myself and others. They offer so much more than just fitness and losing weight. They teach confidence, form and having a balanced lifestyle. If there's one place where you can truly feel comfortable and want to learn to better yourself, then Innovative Kickboxing is the place for you. read more

The place is a cult. Its a social media stronghold on your life. First of all the second you join they immediately force you to be their "friends" on Facebook. And your newsfeed is being blown up all day long with their stupid posts. They appeal to mostly gossipy divorced moms who force their kids to go to horrible overcrowded classes. The place is tiny, no parking in the lot and dangerous. Dont try to cancel because Mike won't refund your money. They will continue to charge your credit card for months. Its all true. Then they manipulate the divorced lonely moms to take kickboxing clasees they cant afford but feel compelled to take. And when you try to quit same thing. Its like a cult stay away. If you have a life and want to learn Karate go somewhere else. Trust me I'm not the only one who feels this way. I just am not afraid to post the truth. Place is overrated, small, crowded no parking lot and expensive. Stay away. read more

I don't usually post but after reading some reviews I felt I had to. Majority of the reviews are positive, which the should be. For those saying things such as the staff being to involved with their customers or the fact that the instructors follow up with you to attend class... well, that just seems like the owners and staff at innovative are dedicated and care about what they do! If only we had more businesses that took that much pride in their work and clients. I recently started Krav Maga with innovative and although I have a demanding work schedule and don't get to train as much as I like, I can tell you give them a try and you won't be disappointed! The instructors know their craft, they are helpful and push you to be better. It's a friendly environment, with good people and they make working out fun. I have no intentions in giving up, this has been the best experience I've had in a journey to get fit by far! # dedicated to innovative. Keep up the good work guys. read more

Best kickboxing studio around. The workout is ideal for every fitness level. The instructors are friendly, encouraging, motivating & fun. The environment is always so welcoming and reflects that not just in the staff but also amongst all the members who attend classes. The studio itself is immaculate with cleanliness. I've been a part of the kickboxing family (yes, I said family because that is not only how the instructors make you feel but the other members as well) at Innovative for about 3 months now and I couldn't be any happier with my decision to have become a member on day 1! This place is not like your average gym and they always have the best playlists to help keep you going ;-) I've done the typical gym routines and taken other work out classes but never saw results like I've seen from kickboxing at Innovative! The instructors continually motivate you and even make you feel more confident while working out. They not only help you reach your fitness goals by taking the classes but by also providing nutritional advice at every class! And the fact that the other members are so encouraging and welcoming makes this place even better! Not only is it a great work out but it's also fun, an amazing stress reliever and a great way to make new friends! Everyone should give it a try... I promise you won't be disappointed! read more

Am very disappointed by this place. After my husband was hospitalized for weeks due to amputations caused by diabetes and I found time too scarce to participate in much extracurricular activities I decided to cancel my expensive membership(I think it was for $125 per month, if not more as I included the option to cancel without any penalty). When I called to cancel the woman was gracious but insisted that I need To pay a penalty for cancelling. I protested and insisted that I paid for the higher monthly fee so I would have this option. She also said that I could not cancel immediately- I would still be charged for the next month's charge which made no sense to me. It took a couple of calls and I demanded to speak with one of the owners and he did call me. He promised that I would not be charged automatically on my card which they had on file. I was furious when the next month I found out from my bank that I was charged again. I'm not the type to check my checking activities all the time so I just came upon it accidentally. I felt this was very deceitful and i demanded my money back. He acquiesced but there's no reason that a client should be treated like this! I'm glad I cancelled! read more

I started going to innovative kickboxing after my son started karate, Some of the moms in the waiting area were talking about the kickboxing class so why not check it out... I did the trial and after the first night I was hooked. I had a baby 4 month prior and the strength I've gained in just the short time, I've been going is unbelievable. I feel great, the atmosphere and vibe is the best you can ask for, The instructors are always encouraging, friendly, and motivating. I'm so proud to be a part of the innovative family!! read more

So I did the normal gym memberships...always positive that THIS time I would be consistent and show up for the monotonous treadmill and weight machines. EVERY time there seemed to be a reason not to go. "I'm too busy...I'm too tired...I'm not in the mood...I don't have the time". Then one day a girlfriend begs me to attend a kickboxing class 20 minutes from my home! I figured she was nuts...and I was even more nuts for agreeing to go with her... but I figured, what the heck and tried a class to help her out. Fast forward to today...I LOVED IT!!! It was motivating and energizing. Sure there are closer kickboxing places near my home...but I FELL IN LOVE with the staff, trainers, and clients. Everyone is friendly, outgoing, and so so motivating. They actually make you want to come back again tomorrow. I'm never bored and never questioned attending. That to me speaks volumes. ACTUALLY WANTING TO WORKOUT!!!??! Go figure! THANK YOU INNOVATIVE KICKBOXING for making me enjoy working out again!! #morethankickboxing #innovativekickboxing #lovetoworkoutagain #lovemygym read more
