This would be a 5 star rating like normal for me but tonight the security guard was extremely rude, didn't get a name but he was old hispanic man with grey hair. I will be back because its the store i go to but that man does not need to be at my local grocery store. i come here every week and he treated me like i was homeless. First off this is a very nice Smith's. They recently revamped the entire store and and it is very nicely layed out. It is well stocked and everything seems clean. However the pharmacy sucks. The main pharmacist seems pretty good, but he has an assistant that has a horrible attitude. This last weekend I called probably 8-10 times to see if my script was ready. Not once did anyone answer the phone over three days. The rude assistant (with the worst fake eyebrows you have EVER seen) tells me that they are very short staffed and they haven't gotten to it yet. That's all I needed to know.... Thanks for wasting my time! And what is with her eyebrows??? Good Lord. read more

The entire meat department smelled like a decomposing corpse. The stench filled half the store.

Just called the deli department. A nice lady answered all my questions and told me how I can request those delicious BBQ ribs they sell. I've gone several times and the deli employees are so so helpful and nice even if they are all out of the BBQ ribs or didn't make them that day. Also they be been kindly helped and others around me when they are cleaning up for the night. Thanks for being nice even if you don't have what I want when I want it. I keep coming back! read more

First I want to say, using Smith's for curbside pickup has been top notch, Smiths Associates pleasant. I Used Instacart HOME DELIVERY from Smiths for first time today. Received wrong items, that MUST be returned in~store. The delivery person placed grocery bags on the ground, when was a table and chairs were in plain view to place groceries. The bags were torn and wet. When I called out to delivery person he just kept walking to his car and did not turn around. Groceries fell everywhere . I thought service would help, due to issues that prevent me from going in-store. Soooo disappointed read more

unfortunately every time i come to this smiths the yogurt and milks are out of date and they NEVER throw the expired products they just let them sell. also noticed the dairy pallets were sitting there while me and others tried to find what we could no workers were stocking the empty sections. needs new management asap i would give it no stars if i could. read more

There is a worldwide pandemic. For months, epidemiologists and other medical experts have warned, nay, IMPLORED us to spend as little time as humanly possible in enclosed spaces with strangers. Some stores, to their everlasting credit, have taken that to heart. They have made the checkout process smoother and safer, and they limit the number of customers allowed in at one time. And then you have a company like Smith's, who not only puts no limit on the number of customers allowed in their store on a Friday afternoon, but then only opens half the checkouts so that long lines form everywhere. They care about their profits, they do not give a single fuck about public health. (Everything I wrote one year ago still applies: the store is still filthy and employees still stand around doing nothing.) read more

Three days ago (March 31, year 2020) I went to Santa Fe to get food for two "shut-ins" (people at high risk of COVID-19). The store manager (a grown man in his 40s) mocked me because I mimic sounds I hear such as cash registers (see "echolalia"). He also sneered at me and scolded me for putting a bag of sugar on the check-out conveyor belt instead of leaving it in the cart with the bar code facing the cashier. I am utterly baffled why he did both bizarre and abusive behaviors. I am autistic; I have no control over my autistic behavior. I do not deserve to be mocked, abused, and sneered at because I am autistic. I have changed my medication pharmacy from Smith's to CVS, even though CVS does not accept my medical insurance and I must pay 100% of the cost of the drugs prescribed to me. Smith's manager cannot be bothered to treat me like a human being, therefore I cannot be bothered to shop there again. read more

It is extremely frustrating not to be able to reach a live person when calling the pharmacy at Smiths on Pachecho Street in Santa Fe, This is what I go through: the automated "How can I help you" that won't respond to "I need to speak to the pharmacist" until she goes through a whole litany of other options that aren't useful. When I finally have the opportunity to say again "Speak to a pharmacist" and she says, "OK, I'll connect you to the pharmacist," the phone is not answered. Then I get "The person you are calling is not available. Please press the extension of the person you are calling," which of course I don't know. Then when I get "Would you like to speak to a customer service representative," and I say yes, that phone rings endlessly (really: right now it's been ringing for at least two minutes). Ultimately, the only way I can get an answer to my question is to drive to Smiths. I'm considering changing to a different pharmacy. read more

Talk about rude employee, the employee at the lottery counter at the Smith's on Pacheco St. was the most rudest person I have ever encountered at any Smith's grocery store. She was yelling at me in front of other customers calling me a liar, telling me to never come back to that store. Simply because I asked her not to be so rude after she barked at me that the counter was closed. I asked to speak to the manager on duty and she just let that rude lady talk to me, a customer the way that she did. Said nothing to her. I was walking out of the store and she's still yelling at me. The manager on duty at that time tells me she's a nice person And she'll tell the manager. I REALLY DOUBT THAT SHE DID. I think after 5 years of being a regular customer I'm going to be done here. 1 cashier at any time, if that, they can't even hire people to work both self check out spaces. Staffing is hard, but if you're a major corporation maybe you can start paying people what they're worth. The problems at smiths are related to the pathetic executives at corporate. Take a pay cut or they will see losses at stores. Additionally, the store is filthy. All the carts are broken. They can pay security but can't pay cashiers. Things are expired on the shelves and produce is rotten. I will be shopping at Trader Joe's or Albertsons from now on. This place has grown ever more disappointing every time I go. read more

Beware Smith's on Pacheco's bakery goods are marked incorrectly. Purchased a White birthday cake for someone allergic to Chocolate, cut it at the party and it was Chocolate. Such a disappointment for the Birthday Girl. Party was 1.5 hours from the store, no way to return it. Tried calling the store numerous times and no one would answer. Let the phone ring for literally 10 minutes at a time. Also ridiculous there was only ONE checkout lane open and some of the self checkouts were down. The interior, selection, and prices at this store were comparable to any other in the Kroger chain. But I was shocked to learn at checkout that they do not accept Visa credit cards. I have traveled the world and found my Visa to be accepted almost everywhere, but not at this major-chain grocery store in the United States. The cashier informed me that I can use a debit card, but this would not accrue rewards (and I honestly don't remember my PIN). I won't be returning to this store when I can use my Visa card virtually everywhere else. read more

Was there this afternoon and ordered some meat from the butcher counter. Not only did the guy working behind the counter not say one word during the whole transaction he dropped some meat on the floor, picked it up with his gloved hand and then continued to touch the meat in the case and add it to the meat on the scale AND THEN PUT THE FLOOR MEAT IN MY PACKAGE. I couldn't even say anything I was so disgusted and he clearly hates his job/life so much to think that it's acceptable to do that to anybody's food and have such little disrespect for other people. I went to Smith's this morning. I was very troubled to find that some of the staff appear to regard masks as discretionary, wearing their masks around their necks with no face coverage, or over the mouth but not the nose, or simply not wearing a mask at all. When i mentioned that masks are now required, a staff member pulled his mask out of his pocket and said the strap had broken. Are there no spares at Smith's? Another staff member assured me that he was healthy, and that God was watching over him I like to use self checkout to avoid having a checker touch all my purchases. When my machine required that i call for help, the staff helper proceeded to unbag out my items until I asked him to stop touching everything, void the transactions, and let me begin over. I could hardly get out of the store fast enough! I now understand why so many people are using online shopping. read more

Disappointed with what used to be my go-to grocery store on the Southside of Santa Fe. It began with the new disjointed layout that I still haven't memorized, and I'm not the only one. Just about every time I have visited since the new layout was installed, I see patrons wondering around mumbling, "I can't find anything anymore". Today I overheard a gentleman ask, "Where is the bread aisle"? The response was "it's on several aisles." I mean, why would you want to find all the bread in one place? The new layout can be forgiven, and alone was not worth taking the time to log on and write a bad review over. However combined with the new checkout layout I feel it is time to complain. Do you, Smith's, know my name? No, because I don't work there! Asking me to check myself out is asking me to do a job that I don't get paid to do. This sudden push for self-check out is not only annoying to me, but it is a strain on your employees; not just the ones who I assume you laid off and are now are without jobs, but also for the one's you have kept. Today was my first experience with this new checkout format and I was outraged! I felt bad for the single lady who was flustered trying to help 6 customers at once with self-checkout machines that weren't working and also the lady operating the ONLY open regular checkout lane. Both had big lines and they seemed overwhelmed. It was a lazy Sunday morning for me; so I had no issues waiting in the long line at the regular checkout lane. However, I can imagine that they will have to deal with aggravated customers who are in a hurry and will no doubt take out that frustration on them. It was only 10 AM on a cold Sunday morning today and was not very busy; I can only imagine the circus that checkout area will become this afternoon as things get busier. This on top of the no VISA acceptance after April 3rd is a big pill to swallow Smith's and you just might find that if not changed, it will cause you to loose this loyal customer and I am sure I won't be the only one. Personally, you will NEVER get me to use those self-checkout machines. If I have one item or fifty items, I will always choose to deal with the human being over the machine. I enjoy interacting with my favorite grocery cashiers and baggers. They make the store a community not just a grocery store. Get rid of them, and you will get rid of me. Bottom line of this rant is: Bring the regular checkout lanes back! read more

This review is for the Pharmacy. I have repeatedly had trouble filling the same prescription. They either don't have it, or enough of it. My bigger issue is the incompetence of the Pharmacy staff, in particular the Manager. Besides not keeping a common thyroid drug in stock he has directed his staff to misrepresent their issue. Instead of contacting me to let me know they son't have any the auto send a text saying it's ready to pick up. This time around it has been 6 days an 4 trips back to the pharmacy and still not able to get the meds I need. I'm transferring the prescription today and I will never shop at any Smith's stores or use their pharmacy again. The highest level of incompetence is at work here. read more

The produce was fresh, crisp and bright colors. We stopped by for some groceries on the way back to ABQ. My wife's mom who lives in the ABQ area said she'd shop there if it were closer to her home. The store had everything we wanted. Santa Fe is a liberal town with a $10.84 minimum wage, which keeps it among the highest in the nation. Santa Fe also has a Reusable Bag Ordinance that requires places like Smith's to charge you 10 cents for each paper bag. Nine cents goes to the city, and one cent stays with Smiths to cover administrative costs that Santa Fe has burdened them with. To my point, with the mandatory minimum wage and bag ordinance fees, you'll pay more for products in Santa Fe than you will in outside of the city limits. I do enough shopping to know the prices were 10% to 15% more on average. Want plastic instead? Then you better bring your own. Ask residents or workers about the bag fees. You'll get an earful. Another reason not to live in Santa Fe. But thank you Smiths for a very nice grocery store. read more

Smith's management still doesn't get it regarding the pandemic. It is the law that everyone has to maintain at least 6-ft distancing [no, it is not your right to claim that's a violation of your rights. The 10th Amendment to the Constitution gives power to the states and local jurisdictions to set local laws -- including wearing clothing in public, and masking and maintaining social distincing during a pandemic]. So, Mr/Mrs Smiths Management you need to get your checkers to do just that. Okay, it is pretty clear that given the congestion in your check-out areas that maintaining distancing is difficult for your staff. Not a problem. You are a big wealthy corporation. Just move some of the useless stuff out of the way [like the flower shop, or Starbucks] and create some required distancing areas for your staff and customers. Get a clue. This virus is going to be with us for the next year, at least. Contribute by reducing the factors that cause contamination. Create more space in your check out areas! read more

This is my go-to supermarket now. It's no Whole Foods, but its really close to home and LEAGUES better than that crappy old Albertson's down the road. It's large, recently renovated, and they have a killer selection of high quality deli items like olives, cheeses, etc. They also have a fairly large organic section for a chain supermarket. read more

It's Smith's. They're a good enough chain store. Not much in the way of organic produce or goods though. Prices are competitive with any other grocery in town. Staff is consistent and helpful. Good hours. Redbox for movies. Starbucks for when you really need a quick coffee fix. Purified water dispensers. The cheese deli is a lot of fun. The deli-deli is great. There's a reason the reviews are all bad about the Smith's on Pacheco in Santa Fe; It's a horrible store! The manager is abusive to the employees and I'm told there is a 60% turn over rate! We used the on-line ordering and bought 5 bags of groceries. One entire bag was bad; spoiled apples and cucumbers, mis-marked meat, and dented cans! When I returned the bad groceries the attendant said he could not help as he had other orders to fill. I went to customer service who told me she gets around 3 returns a day from the curb side service! Really? 3 returns a day and the management can't improve the service! The meat dept. mis-marks products and doesn't appear to know the cuts of meat. We got a Sirloin Steak that was not Sirloin so I returned it. Went to the meat department and there were many to select from. The order said there was no lump crab meat and when I went to the department there was plenty of lump crab meat; it's just plain bad service! This is our neighborhood store, however, we'll be leaving the neighbor to shop. We can no longer support the bad service. I'm disappointed that Smith's has not improved over the years. This store is so understaffed and poorly managed. There are long check out lines (only 2 or 3 cashiers), the shelves are not stocked, boxes and merchandise clutter the aisles, grocery carts are filthy, dairy products are past expiration, and new (temporary?) cashiers are not fully trained. Today I had to write a check and it was declined because the cashier had trouble with the "new" system. Apparently scanning my drivers license was done incorrectly and should have been input manually, but instead I was told my check was the problem and received attitude. (my bank assured me the account is fine) I have tried the pickup service and delivery, but both of those methods are poor substitute for selecting your own groceries; both had missing or incorrect items. The pharmacy is poorly located in the front of the store and there is no room to socially distance or allow the flow of shoppers through to the exits. Smith's in Santa Fe need to make improvements and perhaps should take a look at how Albertsons has accomplished a well organized makeover. read more

Yes I have shopped at the Smiths on Pacheco for 15 years. I understand Covid restrictions and that sometimes food items are not available. But that is not my concern. On Sunday at 1 pm, having checkers standing, lean on their elbows while waiting for customers and box people standing and talking and playing on their cell phones. I watched before me, during me and after with my groceries the cashier never once wiped the counters or the grocery belt. I didn't observe any one of them using sanitizers themselves between clients.There were no carts inside, no sanitizer left at the doors, trash containers by the door (both doors) overflowing and trash on the floor, and blowing around the foyer. Carts were in the way of parking places all over the place. I was never greeted with even a hello, by the cashier, stockers or anybody in the store nor did anybody bother to make eye contact. Yes we all feel a little burnt out but this was so sad. I am very clear about my decision not to ever come into the store again to buy my own, my family or friends groceries. And that is the biggest shame of all because this was known by the community to be the best store/cleanest in Santa Fe until recently. :-((( read more
