I live in the Elderado community, and I am at this store multiple times per week since it is literally walking distance from my home. Unfortunately one of the cashiers was very rude. I'll add her name next time I'm in. She is probably 5"5 and has long blonde wavy hair probably in her 50s. I was helping my daughter buy a chocolate in self check out and was planning on going in line after, but my daughter needed help as she's 12 and learning how to use a credit card. This woman stared me down like I was stealing and as I was about to leave to get into a check outline she proceeded to say "don't forget all that stuff hidden underneath your babies stroller". I was no where near exiting the building for her to insinuate I was stealing. I told her I was going to get into a check out line. I hope she gets fired honestly. Not sure if she was racially profiling me, but it felt that way. I know she's seen me in there all the time so I don't know why she would think I was stealing this time. Again I'll be adding her name next time. Disappointing. This happened July 11th around 11:00 am so if you're the manager, and see this she was the one cashiering near self check out. read more

This is an amazing well-stocked store with an excellent variety! They had everything that we were looking for, and then some. The fresh produce, meats, fish and deli sections are great, frozen food food aisles, everything you need. Very friendly and helpful staff. And it sure beats driving all the way into Santa Fe! read more

BIG SHOUT OUT TO MANAGER'S GUY AND BIANCA for their STELLAR CUSTOMER SERVICE in helping me attain my wallet back that was taken from my cart. When they went back over the camera footage and noticed the man who took it, the Manager's kicked into action when the same man showed up four days later (today) to do some shopping. That was when Guy called the man out and demanded he pretty much go home and bring it back into the store as I had been there four days in a row looking for it. It's nice to know that the Manager's took it as personal as I did and got my wallet back for me. All the wallet there had to do was bring it to the front desk and return it, but he didn't as he said he wanted to make sure I got it back. We are lucky to have such stellar managers who not only look out for their community at large, but also went above and beyond the call of duty to help me with this challenge. Bravo Eldorado Market! Hi Guys, I often rely on you to get my morning started before work. I have a very busy day and very little time. More often than not (every week) i run into some difficulty at your store. This morning i pulled up and 5 people were waiting at the door after opening hours because no one had bothered to open. I had to call to get someone to open the door and got the dirtiest looks form your staff. Then as often happens i had to literally hunt for someone to come let me pay. i could have just walked out with my stuff. AS per usula my burrito was poorly cooked and had hard inedible bits in it. I really just want a reliable market that actually cares. Your staff all act like they're doing me a favor. I just want a darn breakfast burrito and for you to be open when you say you are. This store continues to move into a really important place in the El Dorado area. It continually tries to establish nice produce. however .....they have now started replacing some of better foods with a product that is sort of a catch all called Craven which is a clear step down from the other product...just not quality.....they had better....a lot better.....one other issue of concern is the deli area which is continually maned by folks that Clearly do not practice good hygiene. Hands are almost never washed...counters are cleaned with dirty rags, and the help needs to pay attention to their own cleanliness, not always and there are some great people back there, but they can be hit or miss...... and there is NEVER any real supervision.....why they can get away with this is a real mystery when it is soooo apparent...and when the manager is a huge step up in his hands on approach to this store....An amazingly alert and concerned gentleman..... read more

Look, it's definitely not great. The produce, as many people have pointed out, sucks. The store does not feel clean. And the prices are not good. But it's extremely convenient if you live in the area and need a bottle of wine, gallon of milk, or something similar and you don't want to drive a dozen miles to the nearest market. Not bad for a relatively small grocery store. High quality for the most part. Not cheap, but has a wide variety of healthy items. Wish they had better selection of fish - but that might be hard considering location. read more

Say what you will, it's here and it's handy in a pinch. We get water, dry goods, the occasional dessert, bbq pellets, dairy. Things we don't get, to be fair: deli items, a lot of the produce, beer or wine... Nice folks doing a good job with what they have to work with in terms of products and customers. 5 stars to try and offset some of the negative reviews. read more

I just purchased what I was told was Alaskan cod. It was deep fried and had an appearance of tempura style batter. Well after the first taste nothing could be further from the truth. The batter, though it appeared not over fried, to a bite it had the consistency of an impenetrable crust with no taste. When I reached the fish content, its consistency was without any fish like flesh, just a mushy mouth full. Did I say that there was no discernible taste at all? Even a good dose of salt could not disguise the disappointment. NEVER AGAIN! read more

The grocery store had everything we needed for the vacay at the Airbnb. It is also a full service liquor store. The prices were a bit higher than chain groceries, but the convenience and well stocked store was a great surprise! The store was clean, in a nice location and everyone was super friendly! read more

The Eldorado supermarket is a good option when you don't want to drive into Santa Fe - they do have nice organic options and a good mix of everything. The prices are fair and often less than in town. Some of the employees can be a bit harsh to the customers but maybe they are just having a bad day. read more

9/29/2017 - Well, as if you required another reason, beyond the high prices and the reality that many of their products are sourced from grocery salvage companies with close to expiration dates, I stopped by the John Brooks supermarket in the Agora to grab a Mexican Coke -- only to see a big fat mouse scurry out from the baking aisle and climb up under one of the liquor shelves. Hmm, where there is one mouse, there are more than one mouse. In a grocery store, possibly an infestation of hundreds of mice. Does not bode well in a region where upwards of 10% of rodents are known carriers of the Hantavirus, in addition to a potpourri of various other contagions found in rodents of the Southwest. Hmm, suddenly the drive to Trader Joes and Whole Foods does not seem so far - two groceries that charge as much as the John Brooks Supermarket at the Agora. Except, in a clean environment, with fresh product. read more

This is a great mid-size store with all the staples, along with the things you'd otherwise need from a higher-end market like Whole Foods. Prices for the basics are competetive, and specialty items are no pricier than Whole Foods or La Mantanita. The deli is decent, but of course the selection is limited. They feature Boar's Head meats and cheeses, custom sliced, and there's always a variety of soups. Service is friendly and personal. Folks in and around the Eldorado area are fortunate to have a store with such an extensive, well-chosen selection. If there's a weak spot it's the produce, but if something looks wilted there's usually someone to bring something fresh up from the back. I've noticed a definite improvement over the last year. read more

I've lived in Eldorado for 13 years. This market is a "last resort" stop for us. The produce ranges from barely acceptable to "why is this even being sold?" quality. The prices are high, especially for what you get. read more

I have patronized this store primarily because it's convenient. And the meat counter is quite good. But it's overpriced and produce is abysmal. Recent additions to staff, i.e. young men hopefully is an experiment. They need training and a lesson in common courtesy if not proper service etiquette. When I asked a new bagger to take care with the Tomatoes he was tossing into my bag, all I got was a sneer as he threw the last one in. Today, the checker never acknowledged my presence with a greeting ot uttered a thank you. Again the bagger with whom he was chatting during my entire transaction, upended the wet package of chicken out of the plastic bag I had placed it in. Result, my baked goods were soggy by the time I got home. Rude. I am going to be driving to Santa Fe, except for dire emergencies. I don't know how to do a Minus star. read more

Horrible store, you would think El Dorado community could get a better grocery store for this location. Overpriced, old produce, old grains, I would not touch the meat, its shameful. The only thing in a pinch is water, chips and liquor, but that is not diet to live by. I don't understand why the community is not lobbying for something better. read more

This store has gone downhill in the past year especially in customer service and availability of products. I used to be able to ask for a certain product to be carried in the store and they would happily stock it for me but that no longer happens. The check out personnel and the on-floor managers are horrid. They have become very snippy and downright mean to customers. I can't believe the negative behavior I've seen in this store and I'm concerned that this issue has not been corrected. This location is convenient at times and I'm glad to have that choice. read more

El Dorado is a great store of convenience and the products are good it's just everything is a bit pricey!! And they great fried chicken!!

Nice to have a grocery store local to Eldorado. It is well stocked with a variety of foods. Their wine, beer and liquor inventory is impressive !! They have lots of choices from the deli as well as fresh meat to choose from. However, they can charge the higher prices since they are the only dance in town... would be nice to see less price gouging. read more

I worked here for almost a whole year, some of the shopers had attitudes but hey you never knew what kind of day they had. other then that I loved all my regular customers that I would get, I loved working there, but the management did not know how to run the place or certain departments right. make sure you always check your milk because the girl who is in charge was not very good at her job I did her job and many other peoples jobs. I could have been an assistant manager in less then a year because of how good of a worker I was. but I got sick and ended up in the hospital and lost my job. I love the store but not management only a few good managers but most didn't know what they were doing or even how to run the place or order things on time. read more

all the negative reviews here are accurate but J Brooks does not care. The store is unkempt, and actually dirty. Frequently they are out of stock, don't rotate items, staff makes excuses, more expensive than Whole Foods for products like Sure fine, which are (products founds in poorer grocery store chains). The flowers are expensive and they let them die. I witnessed 3 young boys fill a backpack with stolen items, they saw me watching and ran. They are on the store video but the manager didn't want to print the photos out to post, let alone share with the employees. Management is the big problem. Too bad they don't train like Trader Joe's. It would be a better store all around. I don't trust the produce, seafood, now sushi, or meats. Deli selection is tired..except the fried chicken, which is good. Employees walk around doing nothing and there is a lot they could be doing. All in all this store just sucks. If someone offered to be a part of a cooperative shopping experience..like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's once a week....I know many people who would participate. read more

Convenient store for those in Eldorado and they carry an amazing selection, considering their size. The deli is great for those who don't cook and the chicken enchiladas are great. I love the fact that they are open from 6 am to 9 pm. I suggest the lady from Ft. Worth who called the store "nasty" go back to Texas. The worst quality food paired with the rudest customer service. Almost every staff member seems genuinely upset that you've asked them to do a basic part of their job. Need something from the deli or meat counter? Be prepared for the people working behind them to be completely rude to you. We live in Eldorado but drive all the way into Santa Fe for all of our needs. I will never go into this store again. read more

I am so over this nasty place. I have been trying to do my weekly shopping here for about a month, so I feel like I can give a fair review. Prices are high. Most items are close to expirations. The prepared food section is crusty and disgusting. Most disappointing to me is that I would say 80% of the produce I have purchased here is either currently rotten on the inside, or goes bad within a day or 2. I'll go back because they always have kombucha in stock and a few other things like ketchup, otherwise it's DEFINITELY worth it to make the drive to Santa Fe. I hate saying this because I am a huge supporter of small business, but the quality is just too poor. read more

This store has very high prices with a mediocre selection of items. The produce is of poor quality. Items are very hard to find as there is little order to the placement of products. While most cashiers are friendly, one actually yelled at me because the U-Scan machine would not process my scanning. This was not my fault as I am quite capable of swiping a bar code. read more

Strongly advise against patronizing this store. The staff are of little help and in need of training in basic civility and customer relations. The food on display is overpriced and poor quality especially the offerings at the deli counter. The veggies are wilted. The outside of the store is enveloped in a sickening stench presumably from a defective septic system. Only go there as a last resort for some forgotten item. read more
