Smiths has always been my store for years!!! Here in Rio Rancho, the bakery has gone to h---!!!! Everytime I go to check if the dates are ok for me to purchase an item, I land up giving the hateful, mean woman that doesn't care, and has no help, a bag of rolls or bread that's blue!! Always find something rotten!!!! , I asked her one day, "do you have any fresh quiosants" and she yelled " I don't know, I just got here!!!!!!". Not , let me check or anything ever. I popped in at 4:30 to pick up a few items for dinner. I got to the deli and there were 2 ladies in front of me. I left my cart in front of the showcase and turned around to get a few items out of the self serve olive, marinated mushroom, and specialty items. I turned back around and the deli girl was just finishing up with the lady in front of me. I said that I would like some of the wildflower honey ham, and the deli girl said, "Sorry I am closed!" I said "What?" " was waiting for you to finish with the 2 ladies in front of me." She said " You weren't here." I said that " I was waiting for 10 minutes for her to finish up with the ladies in front of me." She just refused to wait on me and it was 4:45. She just walked into the back. I told her that "I was going to call the manager." And she kept walking. I tried calling the main store number right there on my cell and no one picked up. I spotted another lady named Maddie, and she told me to call the customer service number, and still no one picked up. Maddie called for a manager over the intercom system that could be heard throughout the store and still no response. Maddie then put on her hair net hat and cut the 2 thick slices of ham that I wanted. She then walked me to the front of the store, and we found the manager Christi. We both explained to her about the girl Anessa refusing to help, closing down the deli at 4:46. Christi said the girl was not supposed to close it until 5:00 and she would go talk to her, as she would still be cleaning up in the back. This total lack of respect for a paying customer and walking away was beyond rude. The deli manager was going to also be told about this girls total lack of professionalism. read more

On a mission at the last minute I realized needed a pie for thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately Walmart was closed so I couldn't go there. I didn't dare go to Walgreens because the one by the Walmart off southern was packed like you wouldn't believe. Luckily I arrived half an hour before they closed. There was a line but luckily it was moving and not that far from the entrance. I was in the store within minutes. Once inside I b lined it straight to the bakery. Unfortunately the pumpkin pies were sold out so I settled with some cheesecake. As I circled the store to find over pies I noticed they had a good supply of toilet paper and paper towels. I needed both so luckily was at the right place at the right time seeing as these are scarce items these days. Staff was very friendly. One of them was kind enough to scan my items at the self checkout and all I had to do was pay. It was great. Normally I'm not ok Rio Rancho much these days but next time I'm in the area I'll definitely return. read more

Don't you just love it? You get to scan all 100+ items at self check out... the machine times out every other item and tells you an attendant is on the way. Yet, there's no one to help you. No cashiers to ring up all your items... it's quite the experience! Oh the joy! After scanning all my stuff, the machine keeps telling me I missed an item - no I didn't. "Help is on the way"... no, they're not :D What is this help you speak of? The gal is too busy gossiping with her co worker or looking at her phone. I'm not the only one stuck in check out purgatory... I look over to the section where they normally have ACTUAL cashiers and it's completely deserted. Really? Self check out is literally the *only* option...? Prices are going up astronomically.....stores don't pay enough to keep staff, so, customers have to ring themselves up... I'm not getting a discount for doing *your* job... I'm aggravated as all hell that y'all MAKE people use self check out for all of our items, it takes twice as long (which is hell for anyone with physical disabilities), have to wait for who knows how long to get help for a single item.... just for the machine to need assistance AGAIN... It's not like it's going to change any time soon, that's for sure! read more

I came to the Smiths store for shoe polish, the have an empty rack. No show polish no brushes nothing at all, it seems like nobody checks their inventory or care to have someone in charge, really disappointed to continue coming, mut go to the biggest corporate stores like Walmart, my question is we try to support the medium and small business when you know the big corporations stores have it all at one place, the gas discount is good but I don't think is necessary when you can pay 60.00 at Costco or Sam's and get better price so no excuse for Smiths not to carry one essential item like shoe polish. read more

You're often better off finding a different check-out line unless you want someone to talk down to you while you're checking out and she gives you a lecture about using a coupon. Signs for coke bear when you buy 4, no one had any clue what I was talking about. I asked the lady at the register and she read the picture I took of the sign and asked if I was a rewards member (which the sign states you had to be) and I said yes and put my phone number in, we proceed to the end and I ask again where my coke bear is. She says what bear? Again I show picture of signs in their store saying buy 4 get a coke bear. She says they arnt doing that. I go over to customer service, wait forever, long line behind me too. Finally talk to a manager. He thinks he can recall the tiny little coke bears they handed out last year, and will make some calls. Tiny or not, I never got my coke bear :( read more

I started to shop Smith's about a year ago. One of my favorite things about Smith's is they have boars head cold cuts. They are so fresh and delicious. The produce is awesome and on a good day they have good meat deals. The self checkout is so easy and if you get stuck just call Stephanie and she will run right over to help you. I stopped into Smith's this afternoon, I cut my hand on one of their boxes they hold the canned goods in and after I got my groceries, my cart locked at the front entrance. The lady behind me starts yelling obscenities at me because I can't move my cart. I don't I don't understand why my cart stopped. Their pharmacy is borderline lazy and incompetent. I have a prescription sent to them 6 hours before I arrive and it's not ready. The rep tells me that I have to call in or they don't process it. Here's the catcher, I did call beforehand. I called 4 times and no one answered...the phone just rang and rang. Now I'm sick...wandering waiting for an order that should have been processed 7 hours earlier and at least if they answered their own phones, sick people wouldn't make a trip down just to wait. I have always encountered friendly workers at the Rio Rancho Smiths, and because of that, I always return. Today, however, I returned some food that I had bought only a few days ago, but it appeared to have some leakage around the lid. Melanie, who was working customer service, just stood there, never said a word and stared at me coldly. Since she said nothing, I explained why I was returning the can and asked if I could put the refund back on my card. She replied, "well yeah, if you have your card!" After securing the refund, I politely said, "Thank you." I got no response... just a blank expression. As a manager myself, I would think it would be in the best interest of the store and for her if she were assigned to tasks with minimal customer interaction, perhaps stocking shelves. read more

My absolute favorite place for groceries (and most of Rio Rancho's!) Smith's has the best and freshest meat selections, freshest produce, a good deli and a great floral selection. As a rewards member I earn points for gas and now I can order my groceries online for a quick pick-up. Plus, they're usually open until midnight! This smiths is the best one in all of Rio Rancho and Abq! . Awesome customer service. Their hours are superb being 6 AM to 12 AM, (which is even better than Albertsons since they now close at 11 PM.)Their self checkout is open until midnight. There sales are the best that I've come across in in Rio Rancho. Their produce and meats are stellar top-notch and you're going to be trying hard to find anything better besides the fresh meat market. Very tired of their ads that say produce is fresher than fresh. One of my pick up orders recently that included cherry tomatoes had more mold than tomatoes. In store shopping strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries all had some mold. Maybe fresher than fresh means over ripe and rotten. read more

I used to visit this Smith's all the time. Moved a little north of town, so not so much. Here is the deal. The good: the employees are great. Stephanie and Shirley are outstanding. Stephanie is working the registers and has a sparkling personality. Shirley is always busting her butt stocking shelves and is the best there is. The bad: it's tough to move through the parking lot. Not sure if it's a design problem. It is almost always crowded. The construction on Meadowlark makes it worse. The Visa thing: I understand that it eats into profits (get it?), but it is inconvenient. Please reconsider using this as a payment option. read more

I ask what do I need to do to get the sales price?? I ordered the turkey dinner with trimmings so that it would be easy for tomorrow. The dinner was supposed to serve 6-8 people. The turkey is frozen and all of the sides are in small packages from Home Chef. The potatoes would barely serve 2 people. I called the store since the label said the turkey should defrost in 2-5 days. Not good for tomorrow. When I spoke to the Deli, they said they were very sorry and to defrost in cold water, against Butterball's statement on the turkey. This was a huge disappointment for $80. Would never do this again and would advise people to not try this dinner. Not much customer service--"we were told the turkeys wouldn't be frozen this year." No offer to make things right or even offer for a manager to call me back. Stay away! read more

Most of the employees are great, and have even helped me through a time when my car keys broke off in my steering wheel. Not today. I grabbed the last two packages of liquid pectin and was just looking for the quickest way to check out. I didn't care if it was self checkout or a person. Random employee's lane was empty and he was standing near the bagging area as I approached, holding my goods. He fumbled with putting his own purchase into the Smith's bag, fiddling with the handles of the bag, and edging closer and closer towards the bags to the point that I thought maybe he was on his break or leaving. He started whistling as he turned around. I figured he was done, and didn't want to be that rude customer that yells, "Are you working?" However, I just wanted to get out, thew my hands up in confusion and frustration as I walked off- because he wasn't ready at the register and wasn't leaving or indicating anything at all. As I checked myself out at the self-checkout, I saw that he decided to approach the register when an older couple needed to purchase their items, but I had to wonder why he couldn't communicate with me. read more

Don't use the pharmacy here. There is literally one on every corner. These folks do not care about your business. Brittney was quite possibly the rudest person I have ever encountered. This pharmacy gave me a diabetic meter that stopped working after a couple of days and I called them because there was no other number on the box besides Smiths. She explained to me that it was not any care of hers since she "did not make the meter" she could not offer advice, she could not give me the number for the manufacturer. She was no help at all. It scares me to think that she is mostly dealing with internet unsavvy folks who would need extra help to maneuver these types of things. I was also hoping that the pharmacy manager would have called me after the crap I was fed but nothing. They do not need your business. Beware! Smith's uses Instacart for deliveries. Instacart recently updated their "services" and customers can no longer change the tip after the order is complete. This screws the customer, because if you tip well before the delivery, and they mess up the delivery, you're out the tip. But if you don't, and the shopper does a great job, the shopper gets screwed. They are going to lose shoppers, and they just lost a customer. read more

The delivery service is through instacart. Be careful!! The person who does your shopping will add items to your receipt that you didn't order. When questioned, they'll tell you to call instacart. Instacart will tell you it's smiths problem & smiths will tell you it's instacart problem. You're left with paying for the drivers lunch & personal items. Really stupid system. read more

First time delivery from Smith's. Excellent service all around. Good communications with the person picking the items in the store. Instacart delivery person was especially kind. She had to find my apartment. She was well prepared for grocery deliveries with the right insulated bags and a cart for cartons of sodas. She was able to make the delivery in one trip. Do not use their delivery service! Even though they advertise the service and ordering is done directly through the Smith's app, they contract a third party to pick groceries and deliver so management refuses to accept any responsibility for any incorrect orders. Mostly FYI. Yesterday, I thought this an unreal, unprofessional attitude by checkout employees at this Smiths on 528 in Rio Rancho. Something simple. I just needed to purchase an exchange propane tank for my grill. Carefree, not a priority, ho hum, sorry, we lost the key, can't find it. It was about 1:30pm. "You can't sell a tank?" Sorry, we lost the key. I cannot believe that the store manager allows this as an excuse. It seems that as soon as a product can't sell because of a lost key, that they might cut off the lock and replace it with a new lock. Simple. I had to drive up to Albertsons up the road. Smith's Clicklist review; So far we have used the Clicklist app twice. The first time there was a small glitch which was quickly fixed in-store by a very nice manager. The second time we are having a HUGE ISSUE. The estimated total for the bill is being held by either the Smith's or my bank. The estimated total was about $96 whereas my actual total was $36. My account did overdraw and there are no notices on the Clicklist app that mention this might happen. According to Smith's there is no charge to your account until you pickup your order BUT they use the estimated total to verify funds and your account. Either the bank is holding the money or Smith's is we'll see how it plays out.BBB here we go. read more

The pickup is a completely failed system. They have employees standing around in the store but only 1 employee delivering groceries and answering the phone. You arrive and call to pick up the order and they answer the phone and leave the phone off the hook so you can't talk to anyone and your other calls are not answered either. 45 minutes to pickup an order. read more

Love going to Smith's and the staff is very friendly. Love to say Hi to Amy in the meat department. The produce staff is very friendly and helpful and the Staff that does the order and pick up are very nice. We picked up our first online order this morning and was a great experience. The lady who brought out my food helped explained the whole process for me and was very friendly. Wish the bulk and "Health Food" area had not more products. I'm a displaced Californian now living in the desert. I'm glad to have found a grocery store that carries pretty much everything I could ever need or want under one roof. I was blown away by their selection of cheeses from around the world, their meats/deli, and their produce. Smith's definitely competes with the Sunflower Market just down the road in Albuquerque for fresh produce and cheap prices. They had a deal on avocados, lemons, and limes recently that I found hard to pass up. They also have a bunch of SELF check out stations which I LOVE, and prefer to regular check out when I have just a few items in hand. This store reminds me a lot of the Ralph's I used to frequent in San Diego. read more
