And the meat department manager was short in conversation with the woman working the checkout that was trying to ask about it.

Smiths is our go to store usually. We spent around $200 2 days ago, and my man was like hey go back and get a prime rib for the dinner of the year, and i went in and was told i needed to spend $25 to even purchase one. Which is not that big of a deal except we didn't need anything except the prime rib. I was definitely not happy about it and as a loyal customer for many years thought any member should have the "privilege" of just purchasing a prime rib. Maybe for non members that would make sense to have to make an additional $25 purchase but I didnt see any sign saying this either so i was definitely blindsided at checkout. We did go somewhere else and got the same weight for less $. Its unfortunate, but mostly its just a heads up i bought one here last year and this wasnt a thing or maybe i slipped through the cracks when paying. ‍

Recently I broke my leg but had to go to get somethings at Walmart…read more As I hobbled in from the parking lot to get a drivable cart (no handicap spots available I might add) there were none to be had. The "greeter" said to try the other end of the store"...yah right....did she notice I could hardly walk? I left, such POOR customer service. Went back several times later, again with bad leg, no drivable carts, no available HC parking. It's my feeling that in this community of elderly and handicap people that they need more the 6-10 handicap parking spots and many more drivable carts. OR, police the use better. I'm always seeing those NOT handicapped getting out of cars parked in spots reserved for HC. Also see younger people riding thru the store on the drivables and/or the carts being left in parking lot for extended times. Do the community a favor Walmart and get your act together and help us handicapped people out more. Better customer service would be nice too.

This is often one of our first stops when hitting town to get some basic food items. I have no complaints as far as the availability of items go. But that's mostly because I don't look for anything too out of the norm. Staff is there. But I have very little interaction with them. They're certainly not walking around work smiles looking to help. But meh it's Walmart. All in all I'm glad to have it to get what I need.

Most recently, I went in for sandwich stuff - the lettuce I wanted was wilted and I would've gone for another type but they were out of stock, the deli wasn't serving sliced meat or cheese that day only what they had prepackaged previously (thanks, I wanted fresh cut lunch meats not prepackaged), they only had sourdough loaves I needed french bread loaves (sorry, my family does not like sourdough), Hormel pre-cooked bacon was on sale which would've been perfect for our sandwiches...if Albertsons actually had it in stock but of course they were sold out and apparently the people who work there don't know what pre-cooked bacon even is so they were completely unhelpful and didn't even try to help (she basically said I don't know and then left - wtf you can't ask someone else for me?? Do I have to walk around asking every single employee until one has any information?? NOT good customer service at all!), the packaged sliced cheese section was completely barren out of ALLLL the types of sliced cheeses they carry they ONLY had swiss and cheddar.... Obviously I had to go to Smiths to fulfill my sandwich making needs for my family event. Anytime I go in for fruits or vegetables that are on sale, they're sold out - and it doesn't matter if I come at 6 AM, 8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM, and I've even tried going multiple times throughout the day with no luck, just a waste of time money gas and mental health. And on top of that they never have people working the actual registers when it's busy! If you go in during any rush time, like lunch, expect to wait 10-15 minutes in a line because they only have 1 or MAYBE 2 lanes open. PSA - not everyone want to use self check, there's a lot of older folks here and they need someone at a register. The only positive thing I have to say about this store is their carts are actually good, but I never have to use a cart anyway because they don't have anything in stock to fill my cart with. I have walked out of this store multiple times after getting 1 or 2 items on my list and then realizing the other 15 aren't in stock. This Albertsons SUCKS, whoever manages it should be fired. I have tried Albertsons time and time again with zero luck. Countless times I've gone there and only ended up having to drive to Smith's anyway. So, I'll happily use Smith's crappy carts, at least they actually have stock in their store.

Back then we nicknamed it 'the M & M store' because we were always treated to M & M's. There were inexpensive toys for purchase that we always looked forward to getting during our shopping excursions to help us pass the time. Neighbors relied on this store to get fresh milk and produce and it was a lifesaver as my Grandparents only went to Vegas once a month to shop at a full size grocery store. Over the years I continued to return to this store as an adult when I'd visit the Amargosa, and after my Grandparents died I would visit with Marta Becket in DVJ and get my supplies here. Sunny is a delight and it's been so heartwarming to see this formerly very rough little store turn into a very inviting shop & restaurant. I don't know when it first opened under the original ownership but the fact that it's remained a vital Amargosa Valley market these past 54 years for me is precious. Thank you Martell's for being a constant treasure in my life.
