I purchased salmon from the meat and seafood counter. It was without question the worst salmon I've ever tried eating. When I got it home, I unwrapped it and the fish smell about knocked me over, after grilling I thought, how bad can it be? It wasn't edible, it was so fishy tasting, we couldn't eat it. Today i went in to see if they had any cubed beef OR pork which I purchase from them, and still nothing! I asked one of the meat manager when will this be fixed or be getting a new one. Smith's and Walmart are your only two grocery shopping options in Mesquite. I prefer Smith's because it's easy to navigate with their wide open floor plan. This grocery store has a business center, pharmacy, deli, slot machines, and self service check-out. The employees are always friendly and easy to find for questions. The prices are similar to Walmart if using their club rewards card and they always have daily deals, especially in the meat department. The store is always well stocked and the floral department always has a wonderful selection of plants and flowers . It's always easy to find parking in the massive parking lot. read more

In March we went to Smiths for some grocery items. Saw Bounty paper towels on sale. $25.99 each. On sale $23.99 each. $18.99 With Card. We have a card. Bought two. Checked out our items. While leaving store I saw we were charged $25.99 each for Bounty. Went to customer service and received our $15 or so refund. Couple weeks later, I wrote and mailed a complaint letter to the store manager. Received no response. I had hoped the manager could tell me about his efforts to contact any other victims of this error!? We will never know! But!!! Story is not over! Food stock requests aren't getting through because the manager [name removed despite the fact Yelp requested names to prove individuals but then state they can't be stated for legal reasons, make up your mind Yelp] is letting their inventory go unattended. Getting insurance and funding by collaborating with fake inspectors on health violations (this is a huge income in funding for them). All these stories about heath violations are a scam. Online ordered items are excluded because inventory database isn't synced, manager knows about this but doesn't care. read more

Tried their App for home delivery of cases of water after I had knee surgery. It said I would receive my order by noon but here it is 5:30pm. Now it wants me to lend them $75 bucks for the next 7 to 10 days until they can refund my money. Pathetic! Don't bother with this "service". read more

There are only two grocery stores in Mesquite, Nevada, i.e., Walmart and Smith's. Walmart is absolute crap. Most of the employees are old, dumb, and irritating, and most of the checkout is self checkout which is a pain. Everytime I do self checkout, the scanner malfunctions, the bags stick together, and the give-a-senior-a-job attendants are constantly harrassing me. Today, the scanner beeped on several items but didn't register so the the useless employee came over and said I didn't scan them. Then she said I should peel the bags apart a certain way which I was doing but she failed to acknowledge she was wearing latex gloves which is why she got grip. One time I asked to to buy a watersoftener salt containing citric acid (Morton's Rust), pointed it out in her order book, and she said they didn't carry it even though they had it on a pallette. Their presentation is hideously ugly and junky, lowest quality items and frequently out of stock and their self check out attendants are irritating and useless. Anyways, I started going to Smith's and while it's not a fantastic, it's infinitely superior to the Walmart which I absolutely dread going to. Better inventory, nicer presentation , and there's a cashier and bag person. Hurray! No more awful Walmart self checkout! read more

Definitely rude employees. Early morning talking loud in the produce section to other employees like they are at home. Never have produce stocked in AM, poorly run store. They are par for course with Walgreens across way. This is a gambling town and these trashy employees are probably, angry they lose at the casino. On our road trip to Utah we stopped at this Smith's to grab some road snacks and some liquor/beer (I was concerned about poor selection of the latter at our final destination). It turned out to be a mixed visit. For food, this was a huge store with plenty of variety, though primarily with food from national chains. We ended up finding plenty of snacks, but the beer selection was absolutely TERRIBLE - not a single microbrew or craft beer to choose from. My friend S. grabbed some whiskey, but he was disappointed that Smith's didn't have some some higher-end brands he enjoyed. He settled for a large bottle of his standard go-to brand. At least the price was decent. (And yes, over the course of our trip we finished it.) read more

We have been in Smiths a few times since we recently moved here , so today we decided we would try the scan and go app , but to my dismay I didn't have the correct app the lady that I asked for some assistance that worked at the curtesy counter was very rude and I told her there was no need to talk like that I was just asking for help. Also produce was not very good had to pick thru onions and apples to find decent fruits and veggies. This is by far mr favorite supermarket of all time! The meat department is always stocked with the freshest seafood ever on top of the fantastic beef, chicken, pork & lamb. I can't say enough good things about this department! Over all, this store is very well stocked and very attentive to customer needs. The very best part though is the incredible staff. Friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered among the 4 states and 3 countries I have lived in! Can't say enough good things about our Mesquite, NV Smiths supermarket except this. This grocery is open 24 hours and has a gas station that offers 10 cents off per gallon for every $100 spent on groceries/perscriptions - just complete their store discount card application. Store is always busy, very clean, fast check out, very helpful staff, and as we eat low fat and mostly vegetarian, they have a good selection of fresh fruits and veggies. read more

I was relieved that they are part of the Kroger family because we were able to use my customer card from the store near our hometown that's under the same company's umbrella. I live in Overton, approximately 30 miles away, and shop at Smith's for all my groceries. Great store with a friendly staff. Their produce is gorgeous and cheap compared to shopping in Overton. Alcohol is competitively priced and makes one stop shopping for food and booze convenient. Smiths is a superior grocery store in Nevada and also in Utah where I spend my summers. read more

Great grocery store in this town, I love to shop there. However, on Saturday evening of 9/10 (before Sunday 9/11--Terrorist attack on the Twin Towers Memorial Day) I spent 45 minutes in the Magazine and book department looking for something to buy in Memory of 9/11 and much to my surprise no articles, pictures, books or Magazines had anything about it. I asked the nearest young male Clerk about it, he briefly and vaguely looked and found nothing and just walked away. Young people need to be reminded and so do our Grandchildren. I asked him to please ask his Manager. Hopefully, next year they will invest in something of this sort. I was just at Sun City Pioneer Clubhouse and they had a fantastic commemorative Display with a wonderful picture book AND a commemorative U.S. cloth Flag with all the names of those who died that day. This is without a doubt the best grocery store I have ever shopped. I am disabled there is always a cart, one time a cart wasn't at the door I came in and before I could ask for help a box boy realized my dilemma and flew to the other end of the store to get one. They even help unload the cart and always help me to my car. Once again this Smith's has managed to insult and disappoint me. Apparently if you return too much you are put on a list where you can only do returns when the district manager is in the store. Mind you I always return with my receipt, and my returns are legit plus this is the only Smith's in my very small town. I hate hate hate this store...all of the management team are rude with one exception...Jackie is the only member of management that has showed my husband and I any respect. Kudos Jackie! I'm writing this review because their liquor manager is terrible. The lady that use to run the department was fabulous but she retired. She had an email mail list and kept everyone on the list informed about upcoming sales. The manager now says he has a list but never sends out anything. I live 30 miles from the Mesquite store and called the new manager 6 times so that I could make sure that I was on his list. He never returned my calls, so I drove down to talk to him in person and make sure that I was on his email list. He insured me that I was. That was 6 months ago and I still haven't heard from him. I have shopped other places but nothing compares to Smiths, I find them very helpful and staff always willing to help. Even their fuel station is easy in and out. Only on a couple items do I have to go elsewhere. They have great sales too. Even when I have not needed help they still ask if I seem lost for an item or if I needed a certain usual item in customer service...they got to know my shopping habits.
