(Oye vay, our house had needed a lot of work, so we did the inside, and landscaping first.. while the roof waited patiently) This month we FINALLY scheduled to have our - very old, badly maintained, bondoed.. duct taped.. (from WAY back) ..mess of a flat roof ... TOTALLY FIXED! We interviewed 3 companies and went with VANDERHOOF. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made since moving to the area. Vanderhoof came in with a swat team of capable roofers, and worked like a band of Army Engineers. They tore off DECADES of badly done roof work, layer after layer after layer. (What a mess of construction debris!) At the end of every work day, they left our yard immaculate. Then they built, and built, and restructured, and redesigned. (Flat roofs need expert attention). The work took a bit longer than they estimated due to the amazing number of layers to be removed, and their painstaking rebuilding process - but the Syracuse weather cooperated *(!!) and the work finished yesterday and it looks fantastic! (Photo shows NEW SPECTACULAR FLAT ROOF! Later I'll dig out the original roof.. it looked like a moonscape of bulbous waves and misguided historic attempts to mesh a labyrinth of disconnected ill selected materials. They never showed up. Gave me the excuse it was a weather specific job, plus they weren't in my area. Well the whole month? I think it's because my driveway wasn't a huge paying job and they picked and chose the higher jobs. If you want to wait to whenever they decide to be "in your area" use them. Today is July 10th still no notification as to when to expect them. I canceled their service.

When I stopped home during the day to check the progress I noticed spare rib bones in the driveway and in the grass. When I went back after the dumpster was gone there was still a couple bones in the grass. I went to mow the lawn and there were about 15 thick plastic clamps that were left in the grass by the side of my garage. I came very close to mowing over them. There were about 10 more in my backyard by my pool, which I again almost mowed over. About 10 pavers that outline my front landscaping were knocked out of place and not put back and a ceramic planter was moved and not put back in place either. I sent in pictures and received a phone call. I was informed that my dumpster was denied because there was a recliner in it. I was told that my neighbor had one in his front yard across the street. I went over to ask him about it and he said one of the workers actually helped him put it in. He then showed me his ring camera footage which backed up what he said. I called back and was told that their workers know to not do that. In the meantime I found several nails in the back yard. I mentioned it during that call and was told that someone would come out and take a look all around the house. The gentleman that showed up spent all of 2 minutes, if that, and looked around the front of my house but never even went into the back yard.

They aren't the least expensive, but that is for a good reason. Their work ethic, very in depth estimates, customer service, and craftsmanship are worth it. That being said, they're not overpriced either. They are also extremely efficient. I just had a complete tear off that they completed in half a day. And that included some structural roof issues that were discovered that needed repair. All in all, best roofers in town. Highly recommend this team of professionals.
