They set up an appointment to inspect the house, and they found leaks in our attic that I didn't know about. I couldn't do the whole roof, so we focused on the damaged area for $223/month. The crew, led by David, came out the next day and completed the task before the day was over. They worked with us to make sure we got the roof we wanted. James came over a few days to inspect the finished roof and make sure we got what we wanted. Will work with them to finish the roof sometime.

I started asking around for recommendations for some roofers. Called and got estimates, the usual. However, my neighbors used Forte Roofing earlier this year, so we decided to give them a call. They were very responsive, very quick to get back to us and even did the roof sooner than expected. Very reasonable estimate, much more so than others. They came bright and early, started on it and finished all within a day. I have a split level ranch with connecting garage and sunroom off the back. Very impressed with the team. A few guys came back a few days later (rained the next day after the roof was put on) and did a sweep for nails. All in all, very happy. Easy to work with and very professional. Would recommend them over and over again.

After nearly three weeks on our project and more than $40,000 in damages to our home, Edward…read morePurcell admitted that he did not have insurance, despite repeatedly telling us that he did. Providing proof of insurance was one of the first things we requested before hiring him, but despite numerous requests, he never provided it. We then fired him. We were told the roof would be completed in 3-4 days by a small, experienced crew. Instead, the project dragged on for nearly three weeks and was still unfinished. We were also told that plywood would be used, not OSB, that Owens Corning shingles would be installed, and that our newer gutters would be removed to prevent damage. None of those proved to be accurate. We came home one day to find a worker sleeping on our roof and, on other occasions, sleeping in the supply truck. Workers, including Ed, stepped in and on our gutters, causing damage. Ed also stepped through our ceiling multiple times, leaving large holes and debris throughout our home. The roof was left exposed during rainstorms, resulting in water intrusion and damage throughout our house. The work that was done was defective and we had to start over with another roofer and pay an additional $7,000 beyond the cost of the roof to correct the mistakes made. After admitting he did not have insurance, Ed signed a promissory note agreeing to pay for repairs. To date, he has paid only $1,520 and has not responded to us or returned our attorney's call. He did not return any of the money we paid him. Throughout the project, there were conflicting statements regarding insurance coverage, including references to using his son's insurance. We made it clear that we expected proper insurance coverage and truthful information at all times. Homeowners should thoroughly verify insurance coverage, licensing, and references before hiring this company. JUST WOW! AWESOME! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU VANDERHOOF ROOFING COMPANY FOR EXEMPLARY WORK!…read more After a 6 year wait to 'get to the roof'... (Oye vay, our house had needed a lot of work, so we did the inside, and landscaping first.. while the roof waited patiently) This month we FINALLY scheduled to have our - very old, badly maintained, bondoed.. duct taped.. (from WAY back) ..mess of a flat roof ... TOTALLY FIXED! We interviewed 3 companies and went with VANDERHOOF. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made since moving to the area. Vanderhoof came in with a swat team of capable roofers, and worked like a band of Army Engineers. They tore off DECADES of badly done roof work, layer after layer after layer. (What a mess of construction debris!) At the end of every work day, they left our yard immaculate. Then they built, and built, and restructured, and redesigned. (Flat roofs need expert attention). The work took a bit longer than they estimated due to the amazing number of layers to be removed, and their painstaking rebuilding process - but the Syracuse weather cooperated *(!!) and the work finished yesterday and it looks fantastic! (Photo shows NEW SPECTACULAR FLAT ROOF! Later I'll dig out the original roof.. it looked like a moonscape of bulbous waves and misguided historic attempts to mesh a labyrinth of disconnected ill selected materials. (We inherited it in 2016. ) I can't recommend Vanderhoof highly enough.

Very friendly admin on phone, she made me feel comfortable as this is "what they do in the off season", roof repairs. Well, "Rick" came right out, climbed up into my crawl space attic (not an easy feat) took a few pix, assessed the situation and identified the problem immediately. He not only advised me what the issue was but made a short term fix (For Free) that he said would last several months or more if I decided not to go with the long term solution at this time. He left and I got the quote same day. I was very grateful for the short term fix and I decided to go with the long-term solution anyway. I left it up to them when they wanted to come back and do it and they said they'd give me a call. A couple of days go by and Rick stopped by with another person during a snowstorm. He said no big deal that's what we do. Two hours later I have the correction in place w/pictures that will last me another 50 years and I couldn't be happier. Quick, friendly, accommodating, quality materials and installation. Kudos to Rick and his team Highly recommended

I also had a part of my patio roof that was made of wood thst had broken off. The Roofing Guys came in and fixed both within a few days and the work is seamless. UPDATE: As of 2/9/26 Melo has reached out and has begun the remediation process to make this right…read more Our warranty has also been reinstated. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We hired Melo to install a new roof in mid-2025, including an extended water membrane to prevent leaks from snow melt and ice dams. Within the first winter, melting snow caused a leak. A private contractor identified compromised rear siding, so we scheduled siding replacement. To be safe, we also submitted a warranty service request with Melo and clearly told everyone involved that no one was to touch the roof because it was under warranty. After the siding work, photos showed the roof's new drip edge was unsecured in multiple spots... on a roof only months old. Before even inspecting the roof, they tried to tell us over the phone there was "probably a structural issue with the home". This was not the case. Melo inspected the roof, made some repairs to the drip edge and "loose shingles" (already??), and then abruptly told us the entire warranty was void. Their reason was an unproven claim that our new contractor "removed an ice dam." This never happened. There was no ice dam, no roof work done, and Melo could not provide a name or proof that someone "told them" this. We repeatedly asked for a supervisor and received no calls. With ongoing leaks and no support, we were forced to pay another contractor to replace the drip edge, which resolved the issue. It was clear from the get go that they were looking for a reason to void our warranty. After talking to several community members it is clear Melo is known for doing this to customers.
