This company was once great for parts and service information. Unfortunately, they went downhill fast. I called the service department with questions about how to remove my hydraulic fuel lines for the loader on my tractor. The guy told me: "Oh boy, that's tough!" I asked him for the procedure and he told me: "Use TLC." I called another dealer and they explained the procedure with great detail. My last time doing business with Smith Tractor. read more

I have a 2002 ford excursion with 7.3 liter engine. I had a bad oil leak that was spotting my drive way badly. I took the excursion to Smith Motors in Washington, NJ for estimate of repair. After three days I received call from the service advisor. $7,200 was the estimate. Everything under the sun was said to be wrong and leaking. Biggest issues were leaking oil pan that they said had rusted through and rear main seal in engine that needed to be replaced. Fuel lines leaking, etc. I made the mistake in telling the service advisor I was soon taking road trip with the excursion, pulling my boat out west to Utah because I was moving there. I couldn't believe the repair estimate. I was told they would need to pull the engine to make repairs. Crazy! I elected to just put oil in the engine every time I stopped. I must have put 2 gallons of oil in the engine over the course of the next four days of driving. When I got settled in Utah I took the excursion to a family friend who owns an auto repair shop. They cleaned off the engine and looked for leaks. They found the leak. Two high pressure lines on the top of the engine. Fixed it in a few hours. No other leaks were identified. The engine didn't need removal. Oil pan was not leaking, no replacement needed. Real main seal not leaking. Basically none of the items Smith Motors wrote up in their estimate were needed. The guy who fixed my oil leak was related to my wife, her cousin. He only charged me a couple hundred dollars to fix my excursion. SMITH MOTORS ATTEMPTED TO SELL ME FRAUDULENT, phony repairs. They lied. I called Smith Motors and spoke to Mr Smith, the owner, himself about the facts of what happened. He wasn't very concerned and he defended his business and the estimate. Sort of my word against mine. My wife's cousin laughed when I showed him Smith Motor's repair estimate. He said they were just looking to rip you off and he said in Utah you will find most people are fair and honest and he said most of the shops he knew were more concerned about their reputation than ever looking to make fraudulent repairs. DO NOT USE SMITH MOTORS. DO NOT TRUST THEM. GET A SECOND ESTIMATE. DO NOT BUY CARS FROM THEM. YOU WILL REGRET YOUR DECISION. read more

I own a Jeep Liberty. There is an outstanding recall on it... over 9 months old. Twice I have called to schedule the work. "We don't have the parts, but leave your number and we will call you when they arrive." Still waiting..... Took my Jeep Wrangler in to have a repair. Looked at it, took my number and said they would call to schedule when part came in.... 4 months ago, still waiting. Lousy dealer, no service. Skip them and drive over the Delaware to PA. Smith Motors is staffed by a bunch of cheats, including service manager Mike Coley. I have tried hard to rectify this situation without having to post this, but got no where. I have owned 5 Chryslers in the past and the Smith Motors service is SO bad, I am seriously considering switching brands (sorry, Chrysler. You make a nice product but your dealership in my area is full of liars). If you want to spend a lot of money and not have the problem fixed, Smith Motors is the place for you! Do yourself a big favor and don't waste your time with them. 1. There was a recall on my brakes, and they replaced my brakes with used parts that had the same problem. I had to go back and complain several times, before Mike would re-do it. The brakes still have a problem but Mike said the rumble is normal. Way to go Mike! 2. There was a recall on my key fob, and Mike replaced it with a broken and cracked key fob. Mike said there is no warranty on the plastic part. Way to go Mike! 3. The air conditioning was fixed in April, but still doesn't work. Mike replaced a hose in April and said the problem was fixed. Now, two months later he said he needs to replace the hose. ?? He said the system was re-charged and not leaking, but now he said it is leaking and that he must have been mistaken. He cannot even keep track of the lies he has been telling me! I had an excellent experience buying a used 2007 F-150 from them. They went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Richard Gogal was very professional and I felt like he honestly cared that I was happy with my purchase. I felt the price was good (especially since they replaced the tires with new BF Goodrich's and put in new brakes (even though they were only about 50% worn). I purchased my vehicle from Smith Motors (Ford dealership showroom also located further down Route 31 Southbound in Washington) I went to look at my vehicle on Friday September 7th. The target: a preowned 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE with navigation. Undeniably, a nice looking vehicle from the outside. The car windows were open, (I was told the sales rep took it out before I got there, with no gas??) I opened the door. the car was disgusting. REAKED of stale cigarette smoke and was dirty. Water stain on the shade for the sunroof, nicotine residue on headliner by window. I was fed the line that the car was traded in 3 weeks earlier and they were so busy they weren't able to clean it because they were deliverying so many new cars and used cars that they didn't make prepping the unsold cars for the lot a priority. Note, each time I have been to the showroom since, I was the only customer there... so much for SO BUSY. Fine. Whatever. Long as it's clean before I pick it up. I started the car up. Immediately heard a howling/whistle-like sound. I thought possibly a belt or something. I'm not a car expert, but the sound was coming from the drive belt area, so I assumed. And we all know what happens when you assume things. They said it could be a pulley or a tensioner and they would bring it in the shop and fix the issue. While I had been pointing this issue out, I ALSO noticed that the engine mount was cracked. I was told it was not an issue to worry about and it probably wasn't critical to change it but they'd check it out as well as stand by their vehicle. I took it for a spin. Being I have never driven a CVT transmission on a V6 before, I didn't really suspect anything by the way it was handling. I figured it was normal and went on with the drive. I, again, am not an expert. However, the technicians at the dealership SHOULD be, right? I struck up a deal and left a deposit. Note: I paid for the car in-full, check. They told me it would be in the shop Monday and I would receive a phone call to let me know what they find. Monday comes, I get a call. The sound was a "dirty belt." and they ordered the engine mount. I had told them, after doing research, I had thought it might be a concern of dry rotting on a drive belt which will emulate a sound similar to what i have heard. They assured me that wasn't the issue. I get a call on Wednesday that it's done and we schedule a pick up on Friday at 1230. I get there. Car looks clean, I sign the papers. I have a 9 month old with me and was entertaining her and signing papers with one hand at the same time, so I was a little pre occupied. I got the car-seat all strapped in and put the baby in there. Got in the car, drove off. Not really paying too much attention. Car shakes at highway speeds. No big deal. It happens. Maybe it sat for a while. I pull into the parking lot at Shop Rite to pick up some things. The sound is back! I call immediately and was told to bring it back and they would replace the belt. I make an appointment for Tuesday at 8am so I could have my Mother watch the baby and get it taken care of. I get to the dealer right at 8, and sit. for 2 hours. They cant hear the sound. They wont replace the belt. (pissed off at this point because I was told they would replace it!) I was told I should have never been sent to that service department, but to the "heavy duty truck" service department since they worked on it originally and back to that tech who had heard/diagnosed the issue the first time. I DIDN'T KNOW A NISSAN ALTIMA was a HEAVY DUTY TRUCK?!?!?!?! They stated that the cars front wheels were out of balance. How did they discover this considering I watched the driveway and they NEVER DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT. So they balance the tires and mount the front license plate bracket. I drive home to get the baby and the car starts shaking even worse than before. I pull in my driveway and WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THE DAMN SOUND IS THERE!!!! I gave up. Smith Motors let me down twice. Why give them a third shot. Through the course of the next few days, I noticed the transmission is taking a long time to engage when shifted into Reverse or Drive. as much as 4-5 seconds. COMPLETELY UNSAFE alone LET ALONE with a baby in the car, and at times 2! I was nervous. I didn't trust Smith. They don't know Nissans, CLEARLY, so I brought it to a Nissan Dealer directly.(the CVT on a Nissan is covered for 10y/120k on 2007 and 2008 models. Guess what?! The transmission valve body needs to be replaced! I HAVE HAD THE CAR 9 DAYS!!! I called and spoke to the Sales Manager, Doug. How he is in his position I have no idea. He was rude. He essentially told me I had no right to be frustrated, even after apologizing to him and telling him I don't mean to take it out on him. I have the right to be upset, no? 9 days and 300 miles and the transmission is gone? I have to pay for a rental AND the tires that they misbalanced to be balanced. read more

Got my work tractor serviced here after going to rymons and smith gave me a better price.

I purchased a used truck from Smith Motors and was told that their mechanics had fully checked out the vehicle. Taking them at their word, I drove off the lot. They were supposed to have done a tire rotation before delivery...which they did not do. The next day, and for the next 3 days, I had to jump start the battery, which was basically dead. In addition, and in the meantime, the check engine light came on, and stayed on. The fasten seat belt wouldn't stop sounding. They said they would make it right and then kept my truck for 3 days while they were apparently getting parts in. They gave me a work order with 6 items on it..all said to have been done...and only the tire rotation was done. Everything else on the list was falsified. After trying to get some satisfaction from them they told me that they had no intention of fixing these problems because the truck was sold 'as is'. Hmmm. Why did they take and keep my truck for 3 days? I would not buy a bicycle from these people! read more

I purchased an F350 Super Duty Truck from this dealership on the 5th of April 2014. They stated one owner. During the purchase I bought an extended warranty. The following week I drove the truck to MI only to have it overheat. When I took it to a dealer, the Warranty was under the previous owner's name. Made me wonder if this warranty was purchased twice, once by the previous owner and then by me. A week later I recieved a call from the dealer saying I needed to get a MD VIN inspection. Doesn't exist. I called them back to double check and they confirmed and even said they had sold another vehicle to someone else from Md and they had to do the same thing. So I called motor veh in MD to find out nothing like that existed. Just on the off chance I took it to have the MD safety inspection accomplished. By this time the temp registration had expired since they only provided a three week window. Turns out they dealt with a third party for processing the registration. The dealership told me 4 different dates I would have the registration by. The tags arrived 3 weeks AFTER the expiration of the temp tag. The sales staff is very apathetic after the sale. I'm only writing this review after I read the last review. The guys at this dealership could not be better I have purchased several cars from other dealers over the years and never knew what I was missing until I found this dealership they are friendly outgoing and helpful they go way beyond anything I would have ever expected from a car dealer. We don't go to this dealer because we have Fords my family Buys Fords because of this dealership. We have bought 7 new cars and 2 used cars from them and have recommended them to friends family coworkers I even sent my boss there and now his family buys everything there also. It's like going back in time they treat you like a real person not just a # I can't say enough about the guys at the Ford dealership you wouldn't understand unless you've been there. Not that this has anything to do the people there but they always have some cool antiques in the showroom I love the old gas pump!
